And the dub is horrid too.

I liked it so much that my daddy bought me the DVD yesterday! 😀 hehehe…

Anyway, Angel Sancuary was on my wishlist for the longest time. I’ve always wanted to get it but got discouraged in some way. But now that you say tis great, I think I’ll go out and get it. =D
However, I don’t know the anime so I don’t know the animation, but I like the story a lot. It is indeed unique, and full of weird, yet somehow loveable characters… (Hey, I like Katan’s clothes in volume 6! *dodges several thrown objects*)
😉
First of all, the dub is one of the WORST I have EVER heard in an anime. And that is seriously saying something. I’ve seen alot of badly dubbed anime. Maybe thats not fair and I should watch it subbed and blah blah, but even still thats only one reason why I didnt like it.
Like Kayin said, the animation is simply not there. The whole anime looked as if they just wanted to get some kind of product out there so they used a ton of filler and still frames and slow moving pans just to eat up time. Now I can’t say that the art was badly done. It had some pretty nice banckgrounds and such. But I think that’s about the only good thing I can say about it.
The plot.. Ugh! This anime takes advantage of every cliche of a "fallen angel/angels vs. demons" story you can shake a stick at. It was completely predictable. I LOL’d a few times at it. I was like oh COME ON! Gimme a break! So not only was the animation bland, the story basically kept up thesame pace. Like the creators just wanted to get something out there so they took off their thinking caps and slopped in the most obvious crap.
The dialogue between the characters is laughable at best. It’s like a bad soap opera meets a bad horror movie meets… Angel Sanctuary! A 9 year old couldve written a more believable script.
Ok maybe I’ve exagerrated a bit but my point is, I really disliked Angel Sanctuary. If you happen to like it, good for you 🙂 I’m glad youre entertained. But I could never reccomend this to anyone.
hey, hear me out.
i want to read the manga more than i want to see the anime. they condensed an immense complex plot into a teensy oav. that stinks.
from what i have read and heard the manga is better than the anime . . .
i wish it was translated.
*sobs*</font>
I think the art is super good, but the movement is kinda cheap, the story was just nuts, I couldnt figure out what was happining at all…Oh and the fact that the subing job was so fast I could barly read it didnt add to the expiriance at all.
All in all it was cool to watch, but I dont think im going to get any more than the 3 oav’s.
I have a question first:
Honestly, did you understand the story, only from watching the anime? I think I would not have understood this anime at all without my knowledge from the manga…
I must complain:
From what I have seen they left out legions of characters. The cool characters, that is.
Plus, they left out dialogues and scenes. All the cool scenes where you get to like Rosiel a bit were kind of gone. I think it must be impossible to get to love the supporting cast… too much is missing. And too many angels and demons.
The anime can impossibly stand alone… It is not much more than load of pictures from the manga, animated a bit, you dont know the end, you dont really know whats going on. Hell, was there a scene where we learn about Kiras true identity? I must have missed it…
Pfff… the last thing is about colours. They were too bright. The feeling of the manga with its gloomy, detailed black and white drawings, with the thin lines and the dark scenes… it s lost. The colours are too bright and just dont look or feel like AS… There could have been a bit more play with shadow and light. A lot more.
What a waste of celluloid, time and money. Buy the manga and read the story instead of watching this fragment. 🙂 Hey, the manga is really good! Somehow you get more for your money.
