just curious..

just curious as to the habits of my fellow FF gamers:

does anyone else here rename their characters after people they know or have known? i usually name the main character after me, of course, 😀 and everyone else i name after people i know, depending on what the character’s personality is like in relation to people i know. so am i the only one that does this??

FF7 was my first Final Fantasy, so I promptly named them all after my friends and family. Aeris looked like my little sister "Amy", who I hadn’t seen in years,

*AERIS SPOILER* then "Amy" died. It was horrible. *END AERIS SPOILER*

I have never, EVER, E V E R……….used personal names for FF again.

for ff6 and 7 i did the name change thing. but i named aeris after a girl i liked at the time and when she died it was more personal.

i thought it would be cool to see myself as the hero i always imagine myself to be, complete with love interest. after all, it IS "fantasy" and in a fantasy world i am a mighty warrior-hero that has a hot girlfriend. 😀 reality is much different, of course.

anyway, ff9 and 10 i left the names as they were.

Wow Nymph, I thought I was the only one that renamed Aeris "Aerith" =P No, I never rename my characters…except in FFVI, I’ll rename people for kicks, and then change it back. Rename cards are too fun, haha.

I renamed Squall because, in my view, it’s not the best name to have for a main character. I also renamed Zidane, as I didn’t want to think of the character as the French football player all the way through the game. (Which is seriously what I thought when I first read the manual.)

First time I play an FF game I use te default names. When I replay I change one or two names (like making Terra "Amanda," after myself. I can relate to Terra.)

Why do people call Aeris "Aerith"? She’s Aeris in the English version and Aerisu in Japanese, right? Where’d Aerith come from?

well my first was ff7 and i thought why not and named them all after family memebers and the main myself of course but then i found out there was some romantic parts to the games so i changed them but i always name the main charecter girl after my one true love jennefir (sadly im not going out with her anymore)

yeah, I renamed all characters for FF7 once, but i prefer the real names, cos for one it’s confusing and…i mean it’s they’re real names, it’s what they’re called. It’s like renaming Mario to John or Zelda to Chris. And how fun would that be 😀

I’m also try to rename my character’s name, guess!!:D what is the name of course LABURNSKI, cool isn’t it.

you too, huh? i thought that as well, until i saw the strategy guide. that would have been interesting though. special attack "swerving zizou kick" 😀

Unfortunately I hardly thought of it as a spoiler because as ShadowNINku pointed out, it’s all over the place!!! There are so many websites dedicated to that one scene it’s ridiculous. 🙂

I rename chracters when I can, sometimes after people I know, sometimes after characters in movies or books, sometimes I’ll make up a name or two.

I rename most of the main male characters after me, but other than that I leave all the names the same. It’s just cool to see your name in an rpg.

I played some of "Zelda: Link to the Past" on an emulator once. In the beginning it says "Enter your name" without telling you anything about Link. You have no idea how bizarre it is to hear other characters talk about "a young man named Amanda." :uh?:

well i named Ixion in ff10 Ramuh

and also in ff7 like the 4th time i played through i named Barret, Kulutues (try to guess where the name came from) which was a huge mistake

I usually don’t…though one time I decided to have some fun when I was playing FFIX…

Can’t remember all the names but I named Quina SallyS (for Sally Struthers)…

o ya in ffix i named quina Idiot because thats what she looks like
