Yeah, a movie would pretty much suck. Hell, square didn’t even do a good job with an original story with TSW, they’d slaughter a FF7 movie. Anime movie might be good however.
ff7 movie?? hmmm….i liked the story in the video game, but when people make those kinds of things into movies, they usually mutilate the whole story. For example, read lord of the rings and watch the movie. there are many conflicts between the two
the book is too long to make into an accurate film. the film wud last for much longer than 3 hours if u wanted 2 make it accurate to the book.
FF7 isnt as long as LOTR, so cud b made into a decent film, staying accurate to the plot.

The idea of an anime sounds ok, but I don’t think it would work.

I doubt real actors could do the part. It would basically be imposible to find someone to potray them. CGI would be OK, but I personal think anime would be the best. Voice actors could be problem mind… But I think anime is the best option (at least IMO).

They do have an anime series based off FFV… I’ve sen it. The dub, anyway….

The spirits within was not a final fantasy movie…What did it have in common with the games?
Square claimed to be making a "Final Fantasy" movie, it was just a CGI science fiction film.
A FF film would have to have magic, familiar monsters, wierd, but cool hair, and of course, CHOCOBO’s!!!(most of the games had chocobo’s right?)
Anyway, an FF7 film would be cool, but if it was crappy, it still wouldn’t ruin the game ‘cos i love it!:D

I think an FF7 movie would flop. What wouldn’t flop, would be an FF7 anime. Depending on how they adapted it to the screen, an anime for FF7 would be really really good. Seeing as the characters are already pretty anime themselves. It wouldn’t be too hard. The only thing they’d have to adapt would be the fight scenes and such.
And to that lord of the rings thing… there is a little thing called screen adaptation. You can’t POSSIBLY fit everything in that book onto the screen. They did a spectacular job with how they played that movie out. You want to watch a 9 hour movie in a theatre go for it. But personally I think they’re 3 hour condensed version was beautiful. I applaud them.
