How exactly did Red XIII have offspring?!
I mean… he was the only one left after all. And 500 years later he has… pups!

As for the offspring, I mean, there’s a lot of different theories we could all go by for this. The ending of ff7 left a lot of questions unanswered. I don’t directly recall the ending cuz it’s been so long since i played it, but I think it’s because of Bugenhagen, but I’m not really sure.
Especially after 500 years, anything could have happend.

What I’m going to write here is pure speculation, so don’t read any truth into it whatsoever.
Lifestream and Mako are the same thing, and the planet was all but engulfed in Mako when it moved to counter Meteor. It’s possible that something might have mutated into whatever Red XIII is and became his soul mate. (Remember that Mako was used to create the monsters in the Nibelheim reactor.) Being exposed to Mako may have had the same effect on one of the creatures and altered it.
Or it could just be something as simple as Bugenhagen was waiting for Red XIII to fulfil his destiny in saving the planet before revealing to him that he has a soul mate.
I think Square deliberately left this unanswered to fuel this sort of conversation.
I remember Bugenhagen saying that Red XIII was the descendant of the guardians of Cosmo Canyon, but I can’t remember whether or not Bugenhagen said Red XIII was the last of his kind or not.

Maybe hojo wanted to make more of his kind and being that nanaki was the only one alive or to be found so to say that hojo found a way to inseminate him , no one knows for sure but thats just one way i look at it i could be extreamly wrong or extreamly right.
And A-Sexual is possible, also there is one other possible thing its a fantasy world what if his kind were different then normal animals of our world…and the males gave birth..and who the hell knows its for us to talk about.

1) Red displays all the characteristics of a mammal, and mammals are not asexual. on the other hand, the world of FF7 isn’t meant to be real, so he could be an asexual mammal? kinda weird. if there are any biology experts here, mebbe they can shed sum light 😀

I thought Bugenhagen died just before he gave Nanaki his ultimate weapon so how could he if he was dead. (not 100% sure)

well not in the game but ff7 ending is one that is left wide open for intrepratation so you amy not think that she could come back but that is how you see what happens. I am not saying that you are wrong and I am right or visa versa this is a game with more then one posible outcome it jsut depends on how you look at it.
