However, what i have seen of FFXI, I might just have to give in.
Just look at Diablo II. Free access to battle.net and it’s one of the worst examples of a system that they really don’t have incentive to fix.
Tseng*Turk: yeah, the FFXI online system is totally separate from your ISP, so you’ll still have to pay for it.

IMO I don’t know if I will play FFXI for that reason, first; because you have to receive patches and game fix’es you have to buy the Playstation Hard Drive. Seems like one of those Micr*soft monopolies.
As to the monthly charge I can’t really say its unfair since I have played online pay-to-play games myself such as Everquest.
The only thing that puzzles me which I would like to see, is how the game plays out. All FF games have been famous for their detailed story lines, plot twists, and battle system, but when the game is launched online most of that will all dissapear. It is very hard to put a story line where potentially thousands of people may play.
Well, thats my out take on it, I hope square pulls it off… but it will never be a TRUE Final Fantasy.
