Who was responsible?

Who do you think was most responsible for what happened in FF7? Shin-Ra, Sephiroth or Jenova? I think it was all 3 of them.

Jenova: for coming to Earth 2,000 years ago and trying to take over.

Sephiroth: for trying to finish what Jenova had started.

Shin-Ra: for carrying out the Jenova experiment.

I think it was pretty much Jenova and Shinra Inc. alone, Sephiroth was just a victim of both their schemes…

I believe that it was Jenova.

You are right, she (I think it’s a she) did try to take over the Earth.
She had strange powers which were used in many ways, especially…. to manipulate. Do you remember when Hojo admitted to injecting Jenova Cells into Lucrecia’s womb? Which meant that Sephiroth had them cells in him. Which also meant that Jenova had control over him. Please, don’t blame Sephiroth, it’s not his fault.:(

But if anyone, I would blame Hojo. For driving Sephiroth insane in the first place!! 😡 He had this mad dream of making his son into a supreme ruler. But it was really Jenova’s dream. So in a way perhaps, while Hojo carried out experiments he probably got a little brainwashed himself. You know, spending too much time with Jenova.

But none of this would ever have happened if Jenova left the Earth alone.

I don’t believe Sephiroth started off truly evil. He was more misguided, and he twisted the truth of his heritage to build himself up as a demigod. If Professor Gast hadn’t been killed, it’s possible that Sephiroth would’ve learnt the truth from him, and therefore he wouldn’t have been so devastated to learn it from someone he trusted, and therefore not turned evil.

Jenova DOES seem to be behind a lot of the trouble, seeing as her cells are present in Sephiroth, all of the clones and Cloud. However, she was in a "geological stratum" when Shinra found her (which means fossilized, I guess) and therefore not able to do an awful lot of trouble in that state (although I agree that landing on the planet didn’t really help matters to start with.)

Ultimately it was Shinra who used Jenova’s "ancient" abilities in the hope of creating a super warrior (Sephiroth) who they could use to conquer the world and lead their army and such-like.

I think that it’s a mixture of all three, because they’re all to blame for the troubles, and it all adds up. Jenova COULD’VE stayed clear of the planet, but she didn’t. Shinra COULD’VE left Jenova alone and not experiment with her, but they didn’t. Sephiroth COULD’VE turned out okay if he’d discovered his heritage from someone he trusted, but he didn’t. All big problems are made out of smaller problems, so when these three problems are added up, they make the huge problem that existed in Final Fantasy VII.

I think it was mostly Shinra. Jenova was evil too, but I think Shinra was the most evil. The reason why Shinra didn’t seem to be as evil as they were was because they were weak. If they had Jenova and Sephiroth’s power they would have been much tougher.

I think Shinra and Jenova started it all. i never really paid that much attention to the story, but I know most of the facts.

I agree with Jade, if jenova didn’t land on earth, Shin-ra would not be capable of Creating a super-human, like sephiroth and all of his clones, without the help of Jenova……Therefore it is Jenova’s fault.

Just like most of you have said, its got to be Jenova, because if she haden’t of come to Earth non of the mess would have started.

from what infor you get in the game shinra was only a weapons manurfaturing company befor the discovery of jonova then mako was disoverd and mako reactoer #1 was aproved for the jonova prodject (sp) after that the shinra rose to power dont you think jonova could have used the shinra to weaken the planet and creat sephiroth to use for her planes

I’d say Jenova though Sephiroth does the most he only is misguided cuz of the Jenova cels in him. And Jenova isn’t Sephiroth’s mother but Lucricia is.

All of em are responsible. Shinra made Sephiroth and Jenova, and Sephiroth destroyed stuff. Wait, that means Shinra is responsible then. O_o

Jenova. It started all the trouble thousands of years ago and shinra might not have even existed if it hadnt been for Jenova (the cetra would still be about.)

Shinra started everything. they did the experiments and hell went lose.

It was Jenova, but Shinra came along and pushed it to the brink by creating Sephiroth and manipulating the situation. O_o

Sepiroth was just following what he thought was right and his instinct. While Jenova was the catalyst, Shinra was responsible for reviving it and bringing all of it about including the insanity of Sepiroth. If he had been sane, Sepiroth would have been a great leader and soldier. I blame Shinra 50%, Jenova 45%, and poor misguided Sepiroth 5%.

I blame Hojo. The mans a loony, a mad scientist I tell you. If Professor Gast was in Hojos spot, none of this would of happened.

Don’t blame Hojo but Jenova becouse of her cells the reiounion could take place. Hojo only used Jenova cells to make Soldiers stronger. Then when Hojo thought je reiounion was going to take place in the Shin-ra building, Jenova herself begun to move away. Here comes cloud into play when he posses the black materia and gives it to Sephortoh, the location is in the Norther Crater but Rufus believes this is the promised land because of all the mako, but actullay this is where weapon lives and awakes becouse of the reiounion taking place there weapon awakes trying to kill (a lot but..) Jenova.

Shinra:
You know, I don’t really dislike the Shinra. Sure, they were evil and all but they did try to undo their mistake towards the end. Although they weren’t truly "good" guys, Rufus did take steps to stopping WEAPON and destroying Sephiroth. He did save you from the Collapse of the Northern Crater as well.

And it wasn’t their fault when they released JENOVA. They were IGNORANT! They didn’t know what they were getting themselves into.

But they DID know what they were doing when they created Sephiroth, so they ARE bad guys.

He didnt’ have to kill all those people. He could have expressed his anger other ways – like getting a Self-Help book or something (I dunno really… its just he didn’t HAVE to go nuts; he knew what he was doing).

Shin-ra did not create Sephiroth. Sephiroth is the child of Lucrecia and Hojo.

He was BORN to Lucrecia and Hojo, but the Sephritoh WE KNOW was the product of JENOVA infusions and Mako bombardment, without which Sephiroth would have been just a normal person. You think he was born with JENOVA and Mako naturally?

Do you want me to be more specific? I can say:
Shinra "created" Sephiroth.

If you don’t know that Sephiroth was (in a sense) created through JENOVA and Mako UTILIZING a human baby named Sephiroth, then you missed a MAJOR part of the storyline buddy.

Think about it like this: The PTM I am now is one who typed this article, but the PTM before this article was different. The same goes for Sephiroth.
