i wanna know

i don’t care if it ruins part of the game. who does cloud keep talkiing to when he goes to sleep and when he gets knocked out? its really pissing me off i need to know.

Well you said it yourself, you don’t care. So here goes.

It’s never actually TRULY revealed, but as if you havn’t found it obvious, it’s Sephiroth. Sephiroth later explains to Cloud in the game that he is but a puppet. As in, he tells him what to do, and Cloud does as Sephiroth commands. Cloud refuses to believe it…but anyway.

i geuss that makes sense. i always thought he was an ancient cuz it says about aeris being an ancient and she hears voices. i thought it was his mom/dad talking to him.

i have another question (i’m only at the part where u sneak onto the boat and find sephiroth) when do u go on the date? i’ve been trying so hard to go out with barret cuz it would be so funny, am i even close.

Sadly, you have quite a ways to go. The date is near disk 1. Remember, if you want to have it with Barret, treat Aeris, Tifa (And Yuffie if you get her) very badly. Otherwise, you’ll end up getting one of them. G’luck.

You don’t know that it’s Sephiroth. In fact, it’s equally as plausible to ascertain that it was JENOVA dictating the actions of Cloud – after all, it was HER cells that he had infused into his own (although scientifically, this makes no real sense… hell, it’s a game), not Sephiroth’s. This leads to the question "Was Sephiroth a marionette as well…?" And unfortuantely I’m not going to answer it (here) because I’ll save that for if and when I get a place to post my theories (of which there are many, and of which this is one of).

Additionally, the voice in Cloud’s head could be a stream of supressed memories trying to escape from the inner recesses of his subconcious. Wrought with turmoil, the "real" Cloud could be trying to burn through the thick fog of lies with a single voice of truth trying to guide him towards what really happened 5 years prior to the game in Nibelheim.

Thirdly, we may even go so far as to think it was Zack’s voice, because he was so close to the former SOLDIER. People have reported many instances where loved ones have made apparations and/or brought messages from beyond the grave (whether or not these are true are debatebale). Seeing as FF7 already bends the laws of science, why not bring in supernatural ideas as well?

Building off of this, it is probably more plausible to say that it is "Zack." (Zack in quotes is different from Zack without). "Zack" is nothing but an alternate personality concieved by Cloud after Zack was murdered at the hands of Shinra MP’s outside of Midgar just prior to the game’s beginning (or was he? No substantial proof of his death, but let’s not get into that). This "guiding voice" may be Cloud’s form of coping with the trauma of not being able to save his best friend from the bloody hands of the Shinra, from not being there to protect Tifa from Sephiroth, and from not being there to protect Tifa from falling off of the bridge (Cloud’s early childhood). Split personalities are well documented, too. Who knows!?

BTW, you can expect more of this kinda stuff (much longer too) if I ever get a place to post my theories (I’m new and I’m not sure if it’d be okay to just start making threads based on my theories).

I always thought it was Cloud’s inner being type thing. That the voice in his head was really his other "true" self trying to get out. But, PTM, I really like your Zack theroy. 😀

ok i got another question(they just keep coming). Is there a way to skip caharacters? this is the order i got mine in so far cloud, barret, tifa, aeris, red XIII (i think its 13), and cait sith. but when i buy weapons it shows up in that order except cait sith is on a different line when he should be beside red XIII.

I mean, he’d seen her the day she died, probably had lunch, and had a chat, like when he was young. And then Sephiroth came and burned down the town, and killed her, and left Cloud with no family. That musta pissed him off…

Maybe, but he he didn’t see his mom when he returned to Nibelheim 5 years ago. He was ashamed to a measly escort guard and not a SOLDIER 1st class like he had promised everyone he would become – he avoided Tifa by leaving his helmet on and he definately avoided his mom. He fabricated the conversation he had with her when he explained it to his friends in Kalm.

There isn’t a way to skip characters. I know, there’ll be some gaps between character lines when that menu shows up, but that’s just because you may miss getting Yuffie or Vincent (secret characters which you don’t have to get.)

Every time Clown went to a reactor he heard things in his head. This obviously goes back to when he found Tifa slashed and all that shit and Seph was the one who did it all who I would have to go with Seph. I can’t remember any other places where he hears voices now. But everything dates back to when he was with seph and everything went wrong and that is what triggers everything off. I would have to go with Seph.

And that gap will deffo be Yuffie cus you can get Yuffie before you go to Junon Harbour and you don’t get Vincent until Nibelhiem.

other places where it happens is when hes sleeping. some guy/girl says wake up and stuff. and when he falls into aeris’ flower spot he talks to somone in his head before aeris wakes him up.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I remember now. And at the start of disk two when Seph disappears and he tells cloud where to go. it’s all coming back to me now.
