I understand you were trying to make FFIV hard and I applaud that. It’s not often you see a game these days that’s that difficult and it’s certainly way harder than something like FFVII. However, the following are just wrong.
– Magic casting delay
How am I supposed to heal my character if I just get knocked out before I can even cast a spell because it takes forever to cast magic.
– The preemptive and back attacks setup
Okay, let me definite something. Preemptive attack means that all of my characters should get at least one good attack before I get hit with anything. It doesn’t mean "if I’m lucky, maybe a couple characters get an attack and then the enemies can have their way with me." And don’t even get me started on back attacks. Pow pow pow pow and by the time I get to get anything in, I’m old and have a beard.
– Save points
A few more of them, please?
Sincerely,
Agent0042
If you can’t stand the heat go play Mario RPG…
Yes, I know that was harsh but its the truth. Its like saying turn down the music because its too loud, if you cant stand it then dont listen to it.
But I agree with the other two more save points, because i’ve come across about 5 different save points through out the game.
I kind of liked the delay factor with spells. The more powerful they are, the longer they take. I just wish they were a little faster. The strongest spells are almost useless because of it. (Meteo… waiting to cast meteo… still waiting…. Cecil defends Rydia until he is KO’d… Rydia gets KO’d before she can finish casting meteo… Game over…)
They use a similar system in FFX. Your next turn comes faster if you use an item than if you attack, for example. (I like the CTB system better than ATB anyway, but I digress…)
There are enough save points. If you need to save and there’s no savepoints, just warp to the surface. You’ll get a lot of experience when you go from the surface back to where you were before warping. You want to talk about a game with a shortage of save-points? FFX. There’s no world map, so save points are the only places where you can save. It sucks.
About the battle back attack and preemptive attacks. It isn’t that bad…. I can attack with 3 characters if I’m lucky before the enemy strikes… and as for the back attack…. heh o_o
There are enough save points, you have a whole world to save in if you are in diar need of saving and most of the caves/whatevers seem to have a save point in my copy :eye:
Yeah, that’s true.
Oh, and I’ll give on the save points, since I know now that the earlier FF games didn’t even have save points.
Heh, yeah in FFI you actually had to pay to save your game.
? You sure abuot that? I always thought that you just said no to sleeping at the in and yes to saving your game… I could be wrong though…
My first FF was FF1, my second was FF4…
FF1 is the one where you saved at Inns..
FF4 was the one where there was a hard type AND an easy type.
FF4 hardtype is the true hardtype that we see in FFChronicles.. More items, More spells, harder monsters and bosses, cussing, the porno mag and all that good stuff. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE IT THE WAY IT IS! ITS PERFECT! END OF STORY!
FF4 easytype is the FF4 we see in FF2US.. The storyline was changed, theres like no cussing, monsters and bosses were easier, fewer items/spells, no porno mag or programmers room.
As a master of FF4, I KNOW THESE DIFFERENCES. The delay with casting spells like fire3 and meteo is SUPPOSED TO BE THERE.
The game is perfect. One of the best FF’s of all time. Nuff said.
It requires you to think.. If you dun wanna think, then go back to FF7 or 8
Hardtype is way better. ^_^
Actually, you could save on the overworld map too. If you had a Cottage or a House.

I know that as well. I’ve known it since I started playing the game when I was 6.
