Actually, that’s not true. You can get any weapon, regardless of whether you have the appropriate magazine, as long as you have the needed parts and the required Gil.

Elnoyles are rare enemies and so hard to find, but there is one place you can always find them. From the Airstation, come towards you for 2 screens (which should be near the entrance to Odine’s Lab), and then go up (away from you). There will be a person standing on the path to the right. Talk to him and you get an Elnoyle to fight. Then if you leave this screen and come back, the man will be there again. So getting Energy Crystals is easy. 😀
And I’m not thinking about playing it again (because I didn’t like FF8 and 10 as much as the rest of the series)..
for letting me know how to get those darn energy crystals. Iv’e been fighting elnoyles for a few days now and can’t get any. But I’ll try leveling them up to 60 and use rare item. Thanks!
In regards to finding energy crystals, there is an easier way, though it is tricky, and painstakingly slow. (I did this, and I had Lionheart for Squall right after you can take off in Balamb Garden, in disc 2.)
On the Centra continent, where Edea’s orphanage is located, head towards the big desert, and you’ll come across some forests. Head towards the forest which looks like a hammer and park Garden, then head into the forest. Run around the forest for awhile and you’ll come across some enemies called, Blitz (The ones which use Thunder magic on themselves, so when you attack them, your character take damage), who every once in awhile, once you beat them they drop 1-2 energy crystals, sometimes you can steal them from Blitz as well, but just wait for them to drop them. As I said before, I did this, and I had Lionheart as well as having Irvine’s pulse ammo as well.
