There was no other game all year (quite literally.) I lost track of about three months of my life (but I was at home away from most of my friends anyway, so that wasn’t too important.) It hooked me in, and would not let go at all. I would find myself looking at the clock in 1 in the morning and thinking "perhaps I should go to bed now."
I can’t honestly remember another game I bought over the year.
X-Box : Halo for its enjoyable multiplayer shooting game
Also Warcraft III deserves to be mentioned.

The Editor’s top ten of 2002 for Eletronic Gaming Monthly held only three mentions of GTA: VC out of 11 people. The most votes went to Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime, I believe, with GBA games coming in close behind.
I, quite frankly, enjoy GTA, Metroid Prime, and Animal Crossing quite congruently, but I will stretch the line and vote Prime first and GTA third.

GTA3 came out for the PS2 2 years ago (2001)… But it came out for PC in 2002…
I like to say FFX is a very good game this year (ya know, PSM missed this game on the Top 10 Games…). Plus Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 has to be the best racing game this year! I actually prefer this game over GT3 (but I liked using the RGTs, lol)… Oh well…
I don’t think Virtua Fighter 4 should have been #2 in PSM… It’s OK and all but it’s a fighting game and lotsa people burn them out in like 1-3 weeks… I think VF4 is overrated in a way…
I think this is what the Shriners think their fave game of 2002 was not what it actually was by the sales statistics.

Well, for starters, there is ME :p I just don’t find anything "fun" with Grand Theft Auto but then again it’s just me…
My fave of 2002 ? Hum…Hard one…Kingdom Hearts, Arc the Lad Collection,Virtua Fighter 4,Warcraft III, Suikoden III… those were all awesome in my book. I think I’d go with Kingdom Hearts as the one I had the most fun but Suikoden III as the deeper one.
I only got Final Fantasy X in January 2002 but it was "officially" released in December 2001 so…
Fave game of last year. Hmmmm….
PC – Warcraft II, I know it’s old, but it’s still a great game; and Renegade – Battle for Jacob’s Star, an old game by SSI, but I tracked down a copy last year and it’s a good Space combat sim.
PSX – FFVIII – I admit, I addicted to FFVIII. I have the original release, platinum copy (Got last year) and the boxed set. Castlevania Chronicles – I thought it had been released here in Australia, imagine my surprise when I found a copy of it, brand new, in a mark down bin for $5.00 (AUS). Suffice to say, grab it I did.
PS2 – Shadow Hearts – I love it! A dark game, battling against enemies and the sequel to another game I have, Koudelka. Looney Tunes Space Race – It’s Looney. Escape from Monkey Island – Lucasarts, brilliance.
Those were the game I got last year, so I consider them to be my favourites of 2002. As far as GTA3 and FFX, I prefer FFX because of Auron, and Auron alone.
