Thoughts on Blitzball

Hi, I just wanted to get everyone opinion on the Blitzball game. The pros, the Cons, corrections that could have been made, and your personal favorite character.

This game is awesome. ITs like a real sports game, u hire people and compete in leagues and tourney and ge stronger as u play more, contols are easy.

I wish it was more fast paced and it gets repetitive after a while. Too easy too.

Wedge is favorite.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I used to really like Blitzball. There was a point where I just played Blitzball and nothing else, I seemed to be addicted to it. :erm: But after a while, it just got repetitive winning all the time, so I’ve virtually stopped playing it now.

The game in itself is very good though, I like the originality of it, and how you can sign different players and learn different techs from each other and stuff. It does get a bit easy to win all the time though.

I don’t really have a favourite player, I like all my team. 😉

BlitzBall is one of my favorite FF mini-games! Yeah it does get boring after awhile but to me, I just play every so often and/or make short-term goals. I actually played to Lv.99 twice (once w/o Wakka and one w/Wakka…). The only that can make it better is probably more techs, somewhat faster speed time, and probably more characters and teams. My favorite character is Larbeight cause is he the best shooter in the end plus he kinda looks like me…

I think that the mini game is one of the best that square has come up with to date. I even made the Besaid Aurochs in my football and soccer games. My favorite charater is of course Wakka:D

It would be A LOT better if it was faster paced and harder… it gets way, WAY too easy. And once u get Jecht Shot 2 or invisible shot it becomes immpossible to lose unless you try.

blitzball got boring after a while

btw, i am 75% positive there is blitzball in FF10-2. maybe someone can look into it and double check for me…..

Yep your right. FFX-2 does have BB. Which sucks because you dont use anny BB players in game so Yuna likes suddenly learns BB, how lame.

I used to play Blitzball a lot. It is easily the best minigame because it involves the main storyline, it gives you key items you need to battle (namely Wakka’s moves), and it is highly complex compared to previous games.

But then it gets boring. I only used Tidus to score, so he was over twice the level of any other player, making it easy for me to make a shot from half-court. It is too easy to have an uneven team. Your higher level characters will just swim around while the normal level characters score goals on the low level characters. It’s hard to have a good offense and a good defense. Also, the game is too slow. When I play a game, I score an average of ten goals or more; one game can last up to an hour for me.

Tidus is the best. Tidus is my only high-level character, with Brother in second.

try playing blitzball in the pool. very fun. what i do is get a bunch of peeps 2gether and we all wear our goggles so we can see in the high-chlorine-concentrate dihydrogen monoxide. then we get one of those balls that sokes up the water to use as the….well…the ball. we stay under unless we are passing, shooting, or getting air, but you can tackle under or above the water. the goals r those little soccer nets for elementary school kids located on either side of the pool.

i would like to get scuba equipment and a heavier ball and try it underwater some day. how great that would b.

as for the actual minigame: it was fun…the first thousand times i played it. but it duz definitely get too easy.

Actually, I don’t think Yuna plays blitzball at all. I know Rikku does, and I’m not sure about Paine, but Yuna I’m 89% sure doesn’t play blitzball.

Who knows? Maybe the original Besaid Aurochs will show up again?

P.S- Blitzball is easy with invisible shot, all you do is aim outside of the net, you’re not allowed to miss, but they can’t get the cursor on to block it, so you make it 100% of the time.

The first time I played it I thought it was an amazing concept, but when I got beat in my first game my enthusiasim died down, that almost made me give up on it. but when i found out you could get extra Wakka overdrives and such that got me back into it.:cool: As with other ppl at a point I became really addicted to it and did nothing else when playing FFX, spent many hours buidling a quality team and winning tournies. My fave character when playing has to be Tidus simply because of his Jecht Shot, that ruled:dI cant remember if there was a jecht shot 2 or not…..aw well

It is defo one of thebest mini games in a long while but comes behind the chocobo raising and racing in FF7 and the chocobo hot and cold in FF( they were so f*ckin amazin:D

I wasn’t much for it at first (even though I beat the Goers and won the trophy) and didn’t play another game until I got the celestial mirror and am trying to get the better weapons.

Since then I can’t get enough of it! I’ve played 27 games and lost only once to Al Bhed in the final of the first tournament I played, the bastards used nap shot on my keeper and then they scored, otherwise it would have gone into over time cause they score at something like 9 minutes 45 seconds so there was no way I could come back from it… bastards!

My team on the whole is ok. Team level is 5 and scout level is 3, i’ve won 2 tournaments and one league, only lost one other tournament, haven’t not won in 24 matches.

My team and levels are:

Tidus (15)
Eigarr (13)
Brother (28)
Kulukan (12)
Shuu (15)
Jumal (14)

I have conceeded in no more than 5 matches so far and now that brother pisses on every other player in the league, I can just give him the ball and he can swim around so that four of the players on the other team are following him. I wait until he has just escaped them all so that it doesn’t end up in a break and then pass to tidus, sphere shot, no one saves it… except for sometimes nimrook, he is one little bastard!

I did sign Wedge earlier on and released him without realising the importance of ATK, his passing was 3 and he always gave the ball away when I passed with him, but he is the top scorer in the league besides Tisud and Eigarr and Bickson (I released him too cause Eigarr was better than him.)

But yeah, briliant game!

I would be all for Sqaure Enix making a singular blitzball game. Have the option of changing the length of the games (5 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins etc), make the speed faster, give the players more attributes, make more players, more teams, multiple league so you can be promoted and relegated, mopre techniques, two people commentating with their voices instead of text coming up on screen, a larger database of history of matches and players, a better contract system so players can turn you down if they don’t like the sound of the offer, being able to make offers to other teams for their players (which would also mean a proper money system), giving teams their own individual stadium and having merchandising etc to bring money in to make money to buy new players, make training routines to help build your players stats up instead of them only improving in matches, better tactics other than just having things like "centre attack" and "all out defence" so your players can have their own individual goals and tactics in the match as well as team tactics, and other stuff. It would make a great game on it’s own.
