Well, I have beaten Ozma a LONG time ago… But I have to say it was one of the better battles I have ever had. Basically, all I did was get Zidane, Vivi, Eiko, and Steiner to Lv99 (I believe I decided to fight Ozma once I have gotten everyone to Lv.99.) and then I fought some battles to get their Trance’s almost filled, so the next attack they take they’ll go in Trance. Then, I gave them all Auto-Regen and Auto-Haste and set off to fight Ozma… It was pretty easy too… All I had to do was Focus with Vivi (to get his Magci up) and then Ozma used Curse. Then everyone went into Trance to not only cure all the status ailments given from Curse but to also stall for time so everyone got fully cured during the Trance sequences thanks to Regen… Then I unleased round after round of Grand Lethal, 2 Flares, 2 Holys, and Shock and Ozma wasn’t alive any longer… If he did another damaging attack to my party and I needed more HP, I would have just summoned Madeen so Regen can work it’s magic while doing the 9999… It was truely an eays battle. It would have been more easier if I could have taken Zidane out and used Amarant instead. Aura would have been a big help in case Ozma got lucky…
As for my opinion on Ozma, I think he’s a great challenge with great attacks and all, but I think he should have had an original attack and a more of a monster design. I mean a Super Ball? I would have never expected the ultimate boss was something I can pay $.25 for…
So where do I need to go to find the super dooper… Um, ball thing?

He’s in the chocobo floating garden. (I think that’s the name of it, not sure.) You need to have a flying chocobo, then locate the shadow where it’s located. Use a dead pepper to get there, then instead of talking to Mene, just go over to the other floating island. There’s a cave there, examine it and ignore Mene’s warnings to start the battle with Ozma. For winning the battle, you get an Ozma card (Mene gives it to you, you can also win one, which happened to me) and you also get a sort of "card game manual" thing. (It’s nothing particularly exciting.)
I think you get pumice after defeat it so you can summon Ark(Garnet’s final summon), otherwise you have to synthesis 2 pumice pieces after defeat Hades at Memoria.
Steal: Elixir, Dark Matter, Pumice Piece, Robe of Lords
Win: Pumice, Dark Matter, Strategy Guide (the unexciting card tip thing)
Never heard of that…? @_@
Recommended party: Zidane, Steiner, Quina, Dagger
Give everyone armour or other equipment that can guard against or absorb Shadow attacks. Equip all characters with Antibody, Clear Headed and Bright Eyes. Also give each character Auto-Haste and Auto-Regen. If your characters haven’t learnt these abilities yet, you should learn them before you attempt to fight Ozma
You shouldn’t really have a problem in this battle unless Ozma decides to use Meteor. Shell will reduce the damage caused by this attack by 50%, so get Quina to cast Mighty Guard often. However, with Auto-Haste equipped, this will run out fairly quickly. Meteor is his most devestating attack, on a bad day this may wipe out your entire party for 9999HP damage each.
Every character should have at least 5000HP before going into this battle to be able to survive most of his attacks; and try not to have anyone with a level at a multiple of 5.
If you haven’t equipped Auto-Life before this battle, get Quina to cast it on all characters. With the abilities mentioned above equipped, Curse should only cause Mini; and this can be healed if Dagger casts Mini on the entire party, or Quina uses Angel Snack (but this will use up 4 Remedies.)
If you use any character’s special moves e.g. Steiner’s Shock, Ozma will counterattack by Berserking that character, so they will only be able to attack physically. Throughout this battle, Zidane and Steiner should be attacking physically. You can steal some good items, but it may be better just to fight the battle quickly. He drops a Pumice and a Dark Matter after battle anyway.
Doomsday will not be a problem; in fact, it may help you. If everyone is protected against Shadow magic you won’t take damage and you may even absorb the attack; and Ozma himself isn’t protected from Shadow attacks, so he will take about 5000HP damage by using this move.
Flare Star’s damage is based on your character’s current levels. It does 50x the current level in damage. So, for example, if you are level 1 it will do 50HP damage, if you are level 2 it will cause 100HP damage, etc.
Even with Auto-Haste equipped, you will probably only get 2-3 of your characters to attack in between his moves. However, the animation for most of his attacks will take a long time, so you don’t really need to heal your characters much; the Auto-Regen should be sufficient.
I actually found Ozma to be one of the most annoying optional bosses I’ve ever fought, particularly because of his randomness. Sometimes he uses Curse and Meteor many times in quick succession and even with Auto-Life it’s hard to recover from that. In a way I’m glad he only has 55535HP because it’s annoying getting it that low, especially as special attacks generally result in you being Berserked.
The thing is despite writing that strategy I preferred to use Amarant to Dagger; although that’s probably because I didn’t level her up at all throughout my games. :p The fact he can use Aura though means that he probably would work out being more useful as he can attack too.
Ozma was a good boss although sometimes beating him relied more on luck than skill, which is never a good thing.
I tried like so many times but still can’t beat him…. haha…. never mind… I think I’ll just give up…
Ozma is the way tooooooooo fast and I duno… Just don’t have the chance to attack it, I was keep healing my members… (>"<)
I’m so so so hopeless….
What drugs are you on dude!?
