First Blitz

I started playing ffx recently and even though Im way past this point by now, I was just wondering. is it hard to win your first blitzball game? I had 2 points to their nothing and thought I was good, but they came back and crushed me, I couldnt even break even.

So, is it hard, or did I just suck?

No, it is hard. Because you’re up, in a figure of speech, against a tank with a slingshot. Litterally. However, you’ve got a diamond for ammunition : Tidus.

Having the Jecht Shot for that game nets you an almost sure goal. So, if you manage to make them not score, it’s a sure win. Also, when *spoiler* Wakka gets into the game you have a short amount of time to net it with the Venom Shot.

But it’s still not easy. I’ve won two times out of four against them.

The scores went like this for me on that game :

0-2,1-0,1-2 and 3-2.

So, that gives you an idea.

If it’s your first match and first time you play Blitzball then it’s hard. I know I lost greatly x.x but somehow managed to score. I was kinda annoyed with the controls, it didn’t feel that well to play the game nicely. But that’s just me.

The first time I played, I didn’t get Jecht Shot and definitely got whipped.

Definitely keep the ball away from the Luca Goers at all costs. If they get it, they will most likely score.

I have won this game without Tidus scoring once and instead having to wait for Wakka come in. You really only get one chance at Jecht Shot, so if that doesn’t work, then Wakka is your only hope.

I lost 1:2. It was Tidus who scored the one goal, and sadly sadly one of my opponents had to score shortly before the end of the match. It was so close, so close. Almost 1:1…

My second blitzball attempt was against the Guado team and I lost 0:4. That was devestating. O_o

I lost 5-1 or something like that. I know I definately scored, but I dont know who it was.

Perchance it was an on goal on the Luca Goers behalf? :p

Yeah, you’re very first time playing FFX and then you’re thrown into a BB game against a team who’s very good with a team who’s not so good, yeah, that is hard…

However it is possible. You best bet is to learn the Jecht Shot on the boat and use it in the second half. Basically, during your first half you want to get the ball and pass it around. Not only will this prevent the Goers from getting the ball, but it’ll give your characters a bunch of experience. Hopefully, you can get all of your characters to atleast Lv.3 with the exception of Keepa. Getting to Lv.3 will take every character to through 6 successful passes (mean a pass that is caught by whomever the ball is being passed to) except for Tidus (who needs to pass only once, regardless if it’s successful ro not) and Keepa (you can’t pass to him).

Once you’re done with that half you’ll want to equip all your Lv.3 players with a tech they have, mainly give Tidus Jecht Shot. If you don’t have Jecht Shot then you’ll have to settle for Sphere Shot which is not so reliable. Once you get the ball, imediately pass to Tidus and have him swim as close to the goal as possible while having no more than 2 defenders on you. Then do No Break -> Shoot -> Jecht Shot and you’ll knock off your two defenders and score. If you use Sphere try to get either zero or one defender on you (if you have to, lure both away using Datto to give Tidus more open space to shoot). Then do Sphere Shot and you should score. I only say it’s not reliable because a defender can steal the ball easily from Tidus while Jecht Shot can take care of the defenders. Then get the ball back and hold on to it or pass the ball some more until the game ends. Don’t get greedy though…

I lost this match my first time through but I have beaten it everytime after that…

BTW, you get a Strength Sphere and a slightly different scene if you win. Otherwise, it’ll make no difference if you win or not.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">The first tiem I lost 3-0. :p I didn’t have Jecht Shot either, and Tidus didn’t even level up in the frist half so I couldn’t equip Sphere Shot either.

The next time through I kept trying to play until I could win. I managed to win 3-2. The Goers got the ball at the start of the first half and scored straight away, but after that I just kept passing between Tidus, Letty and Jassu for the rest of that half. They all gained 3 levels.

Second half I got the ball off of the start, and went forward to do a Jecht Shot, which brought it back to 1-1. Then I managed to somehow tackle Bickson, and I got the ball back to Tidus who just did a normal shot and somehow managed to score. At that point Wakka came on, but the Goers got forward again and managed to equalise it at 2-2. Then as my last effort I took Wakka forward through Balgerda, but unfortunately Graav also got back. I could only break through Balgerda, and Graav’s block stat is fairly high, so I was expecting Raudy to save it. Anyway, I got thuogh Balgerda with 1EN left over, then graav only took Wakka’s SH down to 9, which was enough to put it in. That was near enough the end of the game.

It’s pretty tough though unless you get a good strategy. Every time that I tried going forward in the first half I just lost, so I had to start doing the passing.

I was actually doing OK even without Sphere or Jecht Shot in the first half. I scored at least twice, and had managed to keep the Goers away from my goal. It all turned around in the second half when Wakka came in, perhaps this is where my bitter hatred for Wakka came from, I lost my scorer, and my team lost.

Nah, it wasn’t hard for the third try :B After that Blitz only gets easier xD Especially the more moves you gain.

It is quite hard but if u have jecht shot it would be much easier. The first time I played i barely beat them 2-1. During my second game it was very easy, i found out if ur winning 3-0, tidus automatically gets switched out for wakka.

I really disagree about Wakka being stupid. He can win the game for you if Tidus isn’t able to pull of Jecht Shot.

I really didn’t have a problem and won the first time i tried. It’s strange cause the mini games in FFX are accually easier for me then the accuall game in some situations, like several bosses that others don’t usually have a problem with.

Whoa , the first game……..
I had sucked in my first games but now at my 4 walkthrough there no problemes. sure it is a little thing to luck, but talent is needed to. my high score in the script game in luca is a 3:1 victory… It was close to a 4:1 Victory but the time runs out in the shot..
My highscore in the normal games is 12:0.

First few games were harrder then rocks! But then as I later paled and progressed, I’m first place in and games now.

On my sixth try i finally beat it in 2nd overtime lol… do i suk?

I found it really hard the first time, because the controls felt extremely strange to me. I’ve won all the other times I’ve played through the game, though.
