Need ‘buy’ advice

Is FFX alone worth buying a ps2 for? I want to play Final Fantasy again and playing FF7,8 and 6 over and over again is boring, so I’m currently looking into getting a ps2; but want to know if it’s worth the money.. since the larger part of games which I will buy are for the GC and not for the Ps2.

Well… FFX is a really good game, but possibly not worth buying the system for. BUT there are a lot of other great games on the PS2 and since it’s down to $179 there is really no reason not to buy it. Some other great RPG’s for PS2 are Grandia 2, Dark Cloud 2, Xenosaga, the dot.Hack series. FFX-2 is out now also.

And if you like other games besides RPG’s the PS2 has the best games period.

Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Metal Gear Solid 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, Rachet and Clank, Jak and Daxter….

So many great games, you should buy.

i would agree with loki: it IS pretty good (though def not the best ff), but not worth buying the system over. im not too familiar with how u game (that sounded dorkish, eh), but the ps2 does have really good games. and i use it as a dvd player too, though that is supposed to ruin the eye.

have u played the ps2 and games on it? if u havent, then try 2 borrow it from a friend and c if u like the games it offers. if u dont, then i wouldnt buy it. i wouldnt pay that much for ffx unless i was a true ff collector.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I wouldn’t ever say that it’s worth buying a console for a single game, no matter how good that game is or if you think it’ll be the best game ever. Saying that though, FFX is only one of about 5 PS2 games I own, but then my mates play games at my house sometimes too. :p

Anyway, if you think the voice acting won’t annoy you, and you can find a couple of other games you’d like on PS2, then I’d definitely recommend it. FFX is probably my favourite FF right now. Although lots of people complain about the voice acting, I do think it makes the game seem a lot more "real", you can really feel the emotion in it.

I’ll say only this:
I did it.
I never regretted it.
I’d do it again.

After all, it’s not as if you can only play FFX on this console… *thinks about FFXII… but others also*
And you can play your PSX games on it~ So sell your Playstation and buy a PS2~

Like Loki said, FFX alone might noe be worth buying the entire system for, think of all the other stuff you’ll be able to do with it. Like watch movies, listen to CD’s…I know I pawned my DVD player after buying my PS2! :lol Plus, all the other games out there that just kick ass! 😀

Well, if your going to continue to play the FF series, then get one… As already mentioned, it doubles as a DVD and CD player… And now that FFX-2 is out, I suggest you buy both FFX, then beat it, then play FFX-2 (so you don’t spoil FFX for yourself ^_^)… And FFXII looks promising so far!

Anyway, no game alone is worth buying a system for (except Halo for the x-box, so I could team up with my 3 friends in a 16-player brawl ^_^)… But we’re not talking about 1 game, it’s future FF’s for the next few years (FFX-2, FFXII, and maybe SE will get started on FFXIII or whatever they want to call the next FF they mar or may not be brewing up…)

Well, I got it at first to play FFX, but now I play other games on it too. (Okay, other Final Fantasy games and Kingdom Hearts.) But, yeah, you might find that it’s worth it.

Oh it’s worth it, I got FFX, GTA3 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2 with mine and now I’ve got NHL2k4, Kingdom Hearts and am getting True Crime, Smackdown 5, FFX-2 (when it comes out), and Tony Hawk’s Underground… the games that are exclusive to PS2 are the best games even if Sony are laughing at us for buying a PS2 instead of an XBOX or a GameCube, because the console is shit compared to the other 2, but it has the best games to make up for it.

Almost finished the storyline and such; not all the extras though. Omega was a disappointment…

Omega sucks. Finish the monster-catching quest for the arena in the Calm Lands and then take on Nemesis. That’s the real challenge. Oh, one thing – did you make sure to Bribe Omega for some cool items before beating him? That’s the real benefit for fighting him.
