Quale ***Possible Spoilers***

I was just wondering if anyone like me has managed to get 100 frogs like I just did. I read somewhere that you get Quina’s best weapon for getting enough frogs and after I got 100, I fought Quale. That was unexpected, I thought Quale would just give you the weapon, but nooo, I fought it. I’m sure it’s got more HP than Ozma and Necron. Luckily, it doesn’t attack with too much, because I had Quina, Eiko and Freya with Zidane at the time, completely unprepared. So if you haven’t gotten 100 frogs yet, I’m just warning you lol, have your best characters with you, or you’re in for a long, item draining fight.

I played for hours and hours one day ….waiting for those god damn frogs to respawn so I could catch em.

And what do I get? In a boss fight with Quale!!! Holy hell! And I was not prepared at all! How was I supposed to know I was walking into a boss battle hhhmmm? :confused:

But I did get Quina’s ultimate weapon too so I guess it was worth it.:D

I expected a fight with Quale cause I read it from PSM. Quale wasn’t that hard, just that he has alot of HP.

The best reason for fighting Quale is all of the cool stuff you can steal off of him/her. Be sure to have Zidane with all of his thievery enhancement abilities equipped and you can get neat stuff like another Robe of Lords and a few other goodies. Quale mainly likes to use status attacks and water attacks, so have armor that absorbs or blocks 100% water and as many status protection abilities enabled as possible. Quina’s Angel’s Snack blue magic will take care of the rest if you still get hit by something (Mini is one you can’t protect against.)

neways, i did it! and i fought quale. he was easy in my opinion. easier than necron (the easiest main dude ever), but not easier than osma (who i have never beaten).

i didnt wait around for the frogs. i would just go do other stuff and when i was finished i would search all the swamps.

damn those frogs got kinda hard to catch sometimes. erk.

That’s what I do. I try catch an average of four or five in each swamp and make sure a male and a female is remaining. And, of course, never take the Golden Frog.

Once you’ve gotten 100, though, it’s kinda fun to do a kamikaze run and empty all of the swamps, since once you get Quina to level 80-85, 120 frogs or so is enough to max out the damage.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I used to just go round catching all the frogs in every swamp I went to. :erm: I know it’s a bad idea because of reproduction being slowed and such, but I did taht in between Chocograph hunting and such, so there were always a few frogs around every time I decided to visit the marshes.

I had already heard that you do fight Quale after 99 frogs, but wasn’t sure if you actually would. When I did fight him though I just decided to steal, and you get some pretty good items (I can’t remmeber exactly what right now, although I did write an FF9 boss guide… I’m pretty sure Rube of Lords was one of them…).

Yes, Quale has 65535HP, which is more than either Ozma or Necron. Also, onmce I fought him I didn’t bother catching any more frogs, it was annoying enough just getting up to 99.

Hee, annoying? Did anyone else here think frog-catching was fun? Because I kinda liked it.

Sometimes it can be a bit annoying, but a bit of a different minigame. Btw, Frog Drop damage = Quina’s level x number of frogs caught.

Quale does have more life than Necron, Ozma, and Hades. Quale has 65,535 HP. You can steal an Elixir, Ninja Gear, Glutton’s Robe, and a Robe of Lords from him. You also get like 10,000 gil from beating him.

I really liked the frog sidequest, although running around to get all those last few frogs was a bit frustrating. altogether – Go Frogs!

Catching frogs for fun for about the first 40, then it got kinda repetative, so I did it over a long period of time :P.

I’ve never tried to catch 100 frogs. True, I’d gut out a swamp so they couldn’t breed back, but… Never tried for that magical number. I guess all the sub games of FFIX bored me.
