Worst FF and why

OK, what’s the worst FF and why?

I don’t like FF8, the story wasn’t exactly amazing and the junction system is STILL the worst magic/ stat system ever, I ended up not using magic because my stats went down to much…
Also the money system sucked- I want to get money by twatting things, not by my SeeD rank.
And I didn’t like having GFs straight away, it worked in FF10 because you could use magic without worrying about your magic stocks or junctions so you didn’t use them all the time.

ff X-2 annoyed me, it was too charlies angels for my liking, i’m not saying i don’t like it, it was just weird…

Well, to tell the truth there�s no FF I really want to blast away!

They were all really amazing. Even Final Fantasy VIII. When I think about it again I realize that the story was awesome. Somehow strange though… but hell, there was Laguna! ^-^

I don’t really dislike any of them, I like them all infact. But the one I guess I had the most problems with was FF6. How many characters do you need? I like variety, but thats just annoying having……13 characters at your disposal. Also the problem with having so many characters is many of the don’t get developed properly, thus you rarely use them.

Also I myself thought the main storyline was a bit too quick, the side-quests extended the game by quite abit (which may I add is very impressive), but it just seemed to fly by, and I don’t have many memorable parts of the game in my head.

if 8 wasn’t named final fantasy, god would smite all of it’s little peices, gf’s? more like gay friends, the fucked up espers….

I voted for FFIX for many reasons

1) the characters lacked the depth that charcters from other FF games portrayed so well.

2) the story was way too "Legend Of Legaia" and seemed like a blatent rip-off (hello…Mist??)

3)it was more like a Dungeons & Dragons session than a video game I could lose myself in

Its either between Final Fantasy IX or X-2. I know FFVIII will be a popular choice for those not seeing past the surface of the story and those who didn’t appreciate the innovation or ambition of the battle system.

On FF9:

I felt had the best cast and character development, people were truly 3D in this game, emotionally. However, the epic portion of the plot doesn’t move us, the gameplay isn’t as deep (you’ll find more magic and commands else where) and large as the previous FFs, the adventure elements are weakened by only a few sidquests not being moogle or chocobo related. The game doesn’t have much ambitions and plays it way too safe.

On FFX-2:

Some great and somewhat fresher gameplay…but oh man. The direction of dialouge, music, and etc are a complete let down. Stupid situations about characters that are not. I do agree with Misao when she says "FFX-2 will reveal that its not shallow, but that the people playing it are" because its another game, that will likely turn you off at first but you need to tolerate it in order to see what lies beneath.

You all present good arguments, FF9 seems popular and I do count it as my second worst FF, after FF7 and even FF8 the story WAS a bit thin and the battle system had less commands than just about any other FF. (See the fact that Dagger and Eiko had virtually identical Wht. Magic moves for confirmation This dissapointed me because Eiko had some good summons, but my ‘way’ meant that I only used one White Mage at a time… 🙁 )

I was surprised to see 6 put on the list, you don’t HAVE to use all the characters, but I guess 13 was a bit much.

Hey ff9 had class. If anything about the series sucked it had to be X-2 in all honesty. It seems that ff fans love to fuck with me for talking about this games weak points.
The way I see it ff9 and ff8 were the shit X-2 compared to them is a piece of shit. Not that completly hate the game its just if you want rate the worst ff DONT START WITH THE CLASSICS DAMIT!
seriosly X-2 was fine for a sequal but as for a complete solid ff no way! Why isnt this game getting most of our votes instead of ff9 I dont get some people. :notgood: :notgood: :notgood:

I some what agree with Gandalf though ff9 did play it safe. But like I said ff9 has class I for one was not let down.

Yeah X-2 really bit the big one. Most people think that the only good thing about that game is that you can see Rikkus thong but the only good thing about that game is Trigger Happy!

X-2, purely because of Rikku’s astounding moment of stupitidy, "Oh, poopies."

No FF was really that bad, but X-2 takes the cake.

Oh, except for Mystic Quest. But I don’t consider that a game.

:notgood: i don’t completely hate its okay for an average rpg, but when you put the name final fantasy on it, it has a lot to live up to, that game lacked everythin that makes a good game the hotness, battle system okay, the music gay the gayest soundtrack ever, stupid story(if you can call it that) the only cool characters were shuyin and gippal, somthin about shuyin that makes me think he’s badass, but enough ranting i’ll end with this:

Final Fantasy X-2 really had major direction problems…I mean girls jumping up and down talking silly, only thing missing is twirl your hair. But the game took a big dare on being different, and it worked for the gameplay, but not the direction.

X-2 mostly because it was so bad compared to its predicessor X. x-2 had no storyline to it it was just bs. th ending was horrible and the music sounded like elevator music.(except for 1000 word) the dress changing thing was also wierd. and biggest disappointment was that u couldnt SUMMON!!:mad:

I liked all of the final fantasys they all had they good points and bad points. The best thing of all is the variety of games, theyre all different win many ways.

CRAPPEST GAME EVER!!!!!!

Firstly, to you FFVIII hater’s… I seem to recall hearing that Square made FFVIII to appeal to the percentage of gamers that were women. Personally, I liked it, but even I have to admit, it had it’s moments where it… lagged.

Personally, my most hated FF is no surprise really… FFX. I really, really, really, REALLY HATE, DISPISE AND LOATHE THIS FF! And I suppose I also hate FFX-2. Why? Simple, what made FFX so damn special, that a sequel had to be made for it? I’ve already listed my reasons for hating FFX, from the lack of story (based around a religion? If I wanted to play a game based on religion, I’d find a copy of the Wisdom Tree games. Then I’d go kill myself for playing them.), lack of character (Tidus – A blonde, hyperactive boofhead, who has weapons of… water? The Excalibur in FFX, was the sword of Water!), sound (Voice actors… I HATE VOICE ACTORS!! and FFX’s voice acting sucked worse than a vacuum machine.).

Anywayz, I’ve had my rant. Now I need to have some medication. Later.

I didn’t like FF2. The whole stat system was just screwy. Before I knew what was going on I was already 4 hours into the game when I finally realized, "Hey this girl has no attack accuracy whatsoever." So I gave it back to my friend.

VII, the best?
Its battle system was just okay, and character development (stat wise) was non-existant, if I remember correctly. And materia-wise? I won’t begin to understand how a little shiny blue ball in my sword lets me use the other green ball next to it to hit everyone? What’s up with that?

(actually, by no means do I hate VII, but it would’ve been better for it and VIII to have switched places. Then I wouldn’t have been as let down over VII following the best FF, VI)

i am sorry but square enix must have temporaraly sacked their staff and hired chimps because FFX-2 was the worst i mean how low can they stoop. They included chats about breast size and incestuous (i think thats how you spell it) cousins (brother and yuna). Olso they got rid of the chocobo music which i usually sing along to with the lyrics courtesy of www newgrounds.com and they got rid of the traditional fanfare, i guess thats because Noubu didnt work on it. All the creatures are the same as in FFX i dont expect them to change them totally but add some new spines or a second row of teeth or something other than making them bigger with different names. i only played simply because it was a sequal to FFX (which was no masterpiece itself) i had high hopes for this game but they were crushed. Did Honorbi sakaguchi work on this on because his name is not in the credits.

Hironobu Sakaguchi is no longer heading the Final Fantasy series, as he has been sacked from Square Enix. In regards to the music, Nobuo Uematsu is still in charge, but it looks like he has two others vying for his role, in charge of the music, Junya Nakamo and Msashi Hamauzu.

Well I dont care who’s in charge as long as we dont have to put up with that shaft music from X-2 again!:notgood:

Just forget X-2 ever happened, block it out of your memories and simply look forward to FFXII and better times for all.

I’ve not played X-2 but have seen my friend play it and have no desire to play it. Also the fact that FFX was one of my least enjoyabe game experiences contributes to the fact that I will never play X-2, if only to stand up for my principals. Or some such other load of bollocks that don’t really mean anything.

Ok I Agree with some things you said like the dullness (if thats a word) of the story and that pain in the ass junctioning system witch is the worst of all ffs!
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND!!!!!!!!!
The limit breaks were kick ass, Cgs were good, it had some of the hardest bosses and enemys, And ok squall was a lame ass but their was Zell!
I personally think that this is one of the better ffs specially compared to the more recent stuff like *coughs*x-2 (shhh):eye:

Yes, trust me, I read that. Maybe you should reread what I said. It’s basically: Of course you can simplify a game’s story to X versus Y, but you can do this with about every game. Hence the examples.
And trust me, I know this was written in a blind rage to FFX. It has "dumb blind stupid hateful rant with no backing up" written all over it.

Well, X-2 seems to be leading the pack.
I haven’t played X-2, but I am planning on buying it, regardless of how crap you people think it is- and it may well be.

Anyway, FFVII hasn’t got any votes yet. Hmmm, I wonder why?

Same for FF1… which is really odd… I mean… you complain about FFX-2’s story and characters, and still like FF1…?

The worst FF… Well, I have heard bad things about a lot of the sub titles outside the main series. Crystal Chronicles, Mystic Quest, etc, but I have never played these so cannot say.

I can’t even say WORST FF, I think I’d prefer the term "Least Favourite" and at the moment, it’s Final Fantasy V because it’s the one I’ve played the longest without finishing. The storyline is not as deep as the other games, and the battle system feels more awkward than the others.

Final Fantasy 1 would come close because I haven’t played it as long as the others… Again, no real storyline, no real development of characters, but an easy to understand battle system.

As for ffcc yeah that thing sucks alright! without multi player its just not even worth wasting a breath of good air about. I think square should of just named it cc without the ff in it. It can have its moments but yeah other than the gba link thing it has nothing going for it at all!!

I did kinda enjoy Mystic Quest though!;)

here’s my complete review for x-2 which shows why i dislike x-2(won’t say hate, its to harsh)

storyline:
okay, what storyline?:confused: there’s a BIG lacking in storyline here, it’s like "OOOOOHH, we are sphere hunters, lets hunt spheres with our slutty thongs showing!!!" of course near the end the storyline picked up and had one, but it was pretty basic here, nothing really special or good, pretty mediocre

battle system:
now the battle system i liked, was very fast and had class changes, i wouldn’t mind seeing this in another ff(one of its only redeeming factor)

graphics:
awesome as expected

music:
o god, words can’t explain the lameness of the music in this game, except for 1000 words and Real em. it was pretty gay. some of the tracks were "alright" but most were gay and didn’t fit the scene or the game

Fun factor:
now it was fun while playing it doesn’t take from the fact that there is no replay factor at all, i always play my ff’s at least 3-5 times over, i even played ff8 4 times over (ff7 like 50!!) but i have no want at all to play it over again

that about it, if there’s somthing i missed i’d like to here it, and i can back all this up with examples so try me.

Im gonna have to come to this games defense *wonders what the fuck he’s doing* and say that the weak points in the story line were due to the fact that it is a sequal the first ff sequal ever I might add! But other than that I pretty much agree with you!;)

No replay factor? Are you serious? I know I missed tons of events and missions and items and dress spheres the first time through the game, didn’t get the "good" ending etc…
FFX-2 does more for replay-value than most other FFs before it. O_o

Yeah X-2 is by far not my favorite ff but it does have very high replay value! Not just because you have to get everything but because that battle system is just too kick ass to not try again. I usually dont stick up for this game at all because I dont think its as good as the others but that doesnt mean it sucks. This is just my personal opinion about X-2. But yes it does have high replay for one reason or another! 😉 😉 😉

maybe for you guys but not for me, the reason is cause i did almost everything the first time, got like 87% complete, and i would start over if it wasn’t for the stupid way they did new game+ you get all dresspheres and grids and items but not the same level, come on thats one of the basic rules of new game+ i can’t play a game over if it has new game + without keeping your levels:notgood:

Name an FF with character development on par with VI’s. True, there are some characters that are more there then anything else, like Gogo, Umaro, and Mog, but all of the other characters have godly storylines. There are 14 characters in VI, not 13, so maybe you missed some stuff?

As for my vote…….I went with V. It’s the only Final Fantasy I haven’t beat. I’ve just never had the motivation to, and I suppose that makes it my least favorite.

IV hasn’t got any votes yet. It’s strange, that. The only three FFs without any votes are I, IV and VII. I can understand VII, but I and IV I can’t. Is it just nostalgic memories?

I wouldn’t say I dislike 7. I would say that it’d overrated, though.

It has some of the weakest character development in any rpg I’ve ever played, and I despise the ending.

I loved the first disc, but after that, it just all sort of fell apart, for me.

I used to love the ending to FFVII, but now with advent children coming out I’m not liking that ending at all now.

If I hadn’t already voted for 8 I’d vote for 1. It’s state of voteslessness is starting to annoy me.
Anyway, I thought VII’s ending as pretty good, and as AC is set 2 years after the events in VII then the *final* ending to VII isn’t applicable anyway.
But it does leave a lot to the imagination…

I dont like Final Fantasy X. Its my least favorite. I dont like the idea of using voices in an FF and I cant stand Tidus. And it was so extremely easy,except for the Monster Area part. But I was expecting Omega weapon to be really hard ;s. Instead,it only took one hit and he was dead. o.o And the ending bosses were simple too. I think it was stupid that they had a "You cant die even if you wanted too" on the last boss by giving you Auto-Life.You didnt even need Autolife.

Dont like the voices? I think they are great. The voice acting is pretty good i think. Surpasses Shen Mu by a mile. By the way, my fave quote from that is

"Hey Ryo, will you play with me?"

Makes me laugh every time.

I just think the vioce acting takes away from the storys emotion because silence just makes things seem so morbid and I personally like that about ff. but just because voices suck doesnt mean the game sucks! still a very gloomy story! I love it.;)
