First quote:
Irvine: So like… if you knew that your enemies were pure evil, you’d get more fired up to fight them, right?
Squall: (…An enemy that is pure evil? Right or wrong are not what separate us and our enemies. It’s our different standpoints, our perspectives that separate us. Both sides blame one another. There’s no good or bad side. Just two sides holding different views.)
Analysis:
I think that Squall is really touching on something major here. To cite just one example, how about Kuja from FFIX? Zidane really seemed to follow the Squall philosophy on this one. And you’ve got examples throughout: the evil Queen Brahne who really wasn’t so mean after all and the amazing Beatrix.
Look at real life. Everyone has their stand points, everyone has good reasons for their actions. I don’t think you’ll ever find a war that has only ‘good’ people on one side and only thoroughly ‘evil’ people on the other side.
Squall should have said it aloud. 🙁 He’s damn intelligent, but no one will ever notice.

WWII.
If we ignore Japan and the Pacific Theatre, anyways. There is no way in hell that the Nazi’s did anything good.
For the most part, though, Squall is quite right.
Final Fantasy VI –
"Queen’s Diary"
(Diary) I realize, now, that I am in love with Odin… This…breaks
every rule of our society. But my heart longs for this noble, elegant
man. How could anyone blame me? After the fighting is over I’m
going to bare my soul to him…
Oh, and I forgot to tag the thread title for Possible Spoilers. If anyone that’s reading has the power to edit thread titles in this section, feel free to do that and sorry.
Society sucks and shouldn’t limit love!
