I pick Kefka, pretty much because he is too crazy to be bargained with, his evil laugh that pisses me off, and he will stop at nothing to destroy the world. Kefka actually shows passion in his anger and hate for the world.
Sephiroth is a great villian and all, but I don’t consider him to be better than Kefka. For instance, he kills Aeris from behind, flys away when danger is near (Cloud), and always manipulates Cloud to do his dirty work. If you ask me, that sounds kind of cowardish.
Kefka wouldn’t kill Aeris from behind. He would do it so that she could see him deliver the finishing blow. Then, knowing that her death is not good enough, he would stand over the body and laugh *grr*, and then slice her head off. And he wouldn’t run away from the scene of the crime either.
Kefka beats Sephiroth!
Yeah, Kefka’s more evil than Sephiroth. Whereas Sephy was fairly one dimensional in his character (I must become God), Kefka was a complex individual who was devious and at the same time very intelligent in what he did. He used his "allies" to get him into position and then disposed of them once he was done. He also came very close to succeeding in his plan.

Ummmm…didn’t Kefka poison Doma’s water supply? If thats not cowardice, then I don’t know what is.
Anyway I prefer Sephiroth, mainly because he had many sides to his personality, he seemed quite compassionate at some points. Also his weapon, is easily one of the finest swords in the Final Fantasy series.
But in terms of coolness, it’s Sephiroth. Sephiroth was looking better and seemed more powerful, but he wasn’t as mad-looking as Kefka.
Those two are my favorite villains of the series, though.
Yes, Kefka did poison Doma’s water supply, and yes that is cowardly, but that is also a good strategy to take out his enemies without them even knowing anything about it.
Well, when you are looking at an evil villian, you really don’t expect him/her to be compassionate at certain points in the game.

Exactly. Think about it, storm in and lose a lot of troupes, or kill off as many as possible and THEN storm in? Hitler bombed cities before he ever tried to enter them in order to gain an upper hand while fighting in streets he and his army didn’t know; it is basically the same thing.
Kefka is by far the evilest and most maniacal of the two, and generally harder to beat. Then again there seems to be a trendοΏ½ More recent the FF the less challenging it is.
Nah, I am going for an independent vote. I choose Kuja. He’s so cool in such a feminie way *winks*
Uh ok…
But who between Kefka and Sephiroth
Nah, I am going for an independent vote. I choose Kuja. He’s so cool in such a feminie way *winks*
I totally agree with you, Kuja was ace, i loved him and it was so cool when he went in to trance, could have made him a bit harder though!
Kthx ;O
Sephiroth is for emo people
Sephiroth
Rinoa_Yuna’s like me, Sephiroth all the way! Kefka’s a jerk and didn’t have a reason for killing people. Sephiroth was more on the right track because Sephiroth really did it for another race, while Kefka just stupidly thought, "Oh people die anyway, so why not kill them now!", Smart, real smart *being sarcastic* that’s Kefka’s problem, he doesn’t know it’s better to live life and enjoy it rather than to live in a world of nothingness where it’s boring! Life’s too good to destroy! Sephiroth only killed for another life, which was the Cetra, Sephiroth only wanted to avenge them and Sephiroth just misunderstood how to do it. So Sephiroth would win!
– Played mind games with Terra.
– Tried to burn down Figoro Castle.
– Poisoned the people of Doma, (and laughed about how he loved to hear people crying out in pain).
– Punched Shiva in the face and kicked Ifrit in the nuts.
– Turned the rebel espers into Magicite and told them that they might see a few "familiar faces" in his collection.
– Killed General Leo, (while chanting "HATE HATE HATE").
– Killed his own troops before leaving Thasama.
– Killed Gestahl, (a small "good" deed, but done out of disgust).
– Kicked Gestahl’s corpse off of the floating continent.
– Drained the Gods of their power.
– Practically destroyed the entire world and rebuilt it in his own image.
– Nuked quite a few cities with the "Light of Judgement", simply because he had heard reports that someone in town didn’t like him.
– Had a cult devoted to his worship.
– Used "Fallen Angel", (a spell that put your entire party to 1 HP)
– Used "Flare Star", (massive non-elemental damage to the whole party).
And last, but not least:
– He ripped his own head off and held it in his hand laughing during the final battle.
Sephiroth
– Went loopy and burned down Nibelheim.
– Killed a lot of Shinra employees.
– Killed President Shinra, (this was his "good" deed).
– Killed some some sailors and Shinra marines.
– Goofed around at Gold Saucer.
– Killed Tseng, (who in my opinion wasn’t really a "bad guy").
– Killed Aeris
– Killed the Sephiroth Clones of Nibelheim
– Summoned the Meteor
– Took a nap until the end of the game.
– Grew an awesome looking wing and halo, (but not a match for a double set of angel wings).
– Used "Supernova", (very pretty, but not all that damaging).
– Used "Shadow Flare", (medium-high damage to a single character).
– Got his ass kicked with Omnislash,
There you have it. Conclusive proof that Kefka owns Sephiroth..
I was gonna say the Kefka actually succeeded in destroying the world. So you cannot argue with that.
He’s got the better sword. ;D
Sephiroth, not cuz I have a ‘thing’ for him.
He’s got the better sword. ;D

No, not for me. Good always wins over evil. Sephiroth was more good than Kefka, so therefore, Sephiroth owns Kefka! Kefka was a jerk and deserved to die more than Sephiroth. Evil does not own good.
The debate is over who was the better villain. Not over who was "more good".
Therefore, Kefka does, in fact, pwn Sephiroth. Thank you for your time.
tifagirl: No, not for me. Good always wins over evil. Sephiroth was more good than Kefka, so therefore, Sephiroth owns Kefka! Kefka was a jerk and deserved to die more than Sephiroth. Evil does not own good.
dude the whole point of a bad guy is to be bad
and the fact that kefka is wierder thus cool
ok enuf with the wiener jokes
*raises eyebrow once, then twice*

Yeah, good usually does conquer evil. But, the point of a villian is to be bad, not good. Thus, Kefka would be the greatest Final Fantasy villian.

Finally someone agrees with me here! Evil never wins against good. I could understand the point of this thread; which villian was better at being evil. I’m just saying, I love Sephiroth, and I hate Kefka. That’s my point.

Smokey holds a very valid point, if villians were good then there would be no point in having one, they might as well be your party member. So therefore because all of you said that Kekfa was more evil than Sephiroth that basically means that you thought Kefka was a better villian.
hahaha a good villian… how amusing

That’s why I hate Kefka. And what happens to bad villians and bad people? They get punished. DEATH TO KEFKA!!
Sephiroth got punished to for that matter. But in my opinion Kefka remains as one of the est villians to date. Sephiroth just seems to be losing his toouch these days *sigh*
Kefka was bent on destroying the world and everyone in it, even if it meant taking his own life.
Sephiroth only wanted to become one with the planet, so that he could become even more powerful.
So, I am saying, that Kefka has always had that need to kill, and he always had incredible power. Sephiroth needed help in gaining more power.
*SPOILERS*
Besides, Sephiroth was killed by one jab through the stomach, while Kefka needed to be taken down thrice!
On that basis, Kefka is the better villian.
Yes it is
It said Sephiroth vs. Kefka
Ha, maybe you should check the title of the thread Tifa.:-*
I guess it’s not to see which one you like better.
Yes, this thread is about which is the better Final Fantasy villian.
