Nintendo DS vs. PSP
I challenge ye to a duel!
Also I prefer its look more than that of the DS.
…and Square Enix has announced its DS line-up. Crystal-freaking-Chronicles. And they’re releasing FF7: Advent Children on UMD for the PSP.
Sony wins.
The PSP is really just the PS2 but smaller…. where the hell is the new shit?
IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT.
…take note, battle system designers of Final Fantasy XII.
I’ll get the PSP when it starts dying out.
And if there’s one thing I don’t get being excited about, it’s Advent Children being available on the PSP. It will still be available as a DVD, right? I’d just get that. On the rare occasions I want to watch a movie on the go, I’ll use my laptop… which isn’t an option for everyone, but yeah, movies for a mini screen don’t seem all that appealing.;
PS2 works just fine, and like rezo said for the rare occasions where I’d want to watch a DVD or play a game on the go (which has yet to happen).
There’s only so much graphical technology you can pack in such a tiny screen before you can’t even tell the fucking difference anymore, GBA has kinda set the limit there.
Haven’t seen either the DS or the PSP, don’t really care about either one.
Who really has the time for portable games, especially for the typical age group that Sony games target?
More people that you’d expect – ever since the GBA SP has been released, Nintendo has been biting into Sony’s age group. I know from experience (being an ‘older’ gamer at 18), and working full time, I have more time to play my GBA than I do any of my consoles.
The reason? Travel. I spend an hour every day on the train getting from the outer suburbs into the city where I work, and there are heaps of people just like me – I can’t image what commuting must be like in the larger cities like Sydney, or overseas in Tokyo or New York.
Gaming is quickly becoming a main storyteller in the 18 – 25 age group – movies and TV have long since replaced reading in home entertainment, and now portable gaming is spreading into the commuter market – and that’s who Sony is trying to aim at, i’d guess. In particular, young businessmen.
Which is why I doubt the Nintendo DS – sure, it’s aiming at kids, but that market has proven small game in comparison to the late teen -early twenties market. The PSP is what will appeal to them – just like the PlayStation appealed back in 1995.
Sure, the DS will be fun and innovative – I believe all real gamers should get all systems. It’s the games that are good, not the systems – but I believe the PSP is more commecically viable, even if it comes with a US$199 price tag.
…right?
HEY! I bought the Pokemon Soundtracks, I should post them up in Shrine AMP soon…
Anyone here play the Card game? I don’t know how to play but the characters look cool!
