Best Male character- Cloud Strife
Best Female character- Aeris
Best Villian- Sephiroth
Best Final Fantasy game in the series- Final Fantasy VII
Easiest??!!? Have you played the Jap version of FF7? It was so difficult that they decided to tone it down for the US release. Also, I think that FF7 is over rated. =(
I’d have to think really hard and long on this question, and my answers would ultimately look a lot different… Maybe…
Best male main character: Tidus
Best main villain: Kuja
Best female main character: Yuna
I’d never be able to say which game I think is the BEST. Comparing whole games is as good as impossible, in my opinion. Comparing chaarcters is okay. I’ve chosen those that I consider most thoroughly developed & portrayed… Kuja was an easy choice, there just is no one to rival THE villain with character development, and so was Yuna. She probably had the biggest role a female ever had in Final Fantasy. I’m not 100% sure about Tidus… but he’s rather intense. Of course, technology is on his side… He can convey emotions with e.g. a sad frown… not possible with older graphics…
I guess when you wonder about which is the ‘best game’, you have to consider that each RPG has to fulfill two roles: It has to tell a story, and it has to let the player play. I suppose a truly good game finds the right balance between these two aspects. Not just excellent gameplay, not just a gripping story, but both, in the right balance. I don’t know at all. Maybe this makes FF6 win? *shrugs and wanders off*
Sephiroth is bland and one dimensional compared to Kuja, Kefka and Seymour.
Cloud is bland and one dimensional compared to Tidus, Zidane, Cecil, even Squall.
Aeris is okay, but again Rinoa and Garnet and Yuna play such a stronger role in their respective games. Let’s not forget Terra either.
I should dig out the post about FF7 someone made at another site I visit. It’s most amusing…
So, yeah.
Sephiroth everyone loves just because of the general "OMG LOOK A SWORD" and "OHH HE’S SO EVIL AND GREY HAIRED!"
In fact, I think their love for FF7 may just stem from a set of homosexual tendencies, I mean, Cloud = big sword = popular, Sephiroth = big LONG sword = popular. Aeris = staff = big LONG staff.
POOFTER EH?
Gogo had more charisma than Cloud.
The best characters in FF7 were Barret, Cait Sith, Red XIII (to an extent 🙁 ) and Cid. Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith were crap. As goes with Sephiroth.
Tidus was…eh. Okay. Yuna annoys the stupid out of me because of FFX-2. I liked Auron a lot more than I liked Cloud, though 🙁
I love listening to others post about this…trying to sound all smart and non-noobish it’s actually quite funny.
You shouldn’t talk given your post here: http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13259.
As for the actual topic (which landlord couldn’t even comment on), the main reason everyone likes FF7 the most is because it was the first FF to be advertised on television and it was commercialized in such a way that it would appeal to more than just the core RPG players. The only other Final Fantasy to receive nearly as much publicity was Final Fantasy 10, mainly because it was also the first game on a new system. More people like FF7 because more people knew about it when it was first coming out. Sadly it lead to the average Final Fantasy fan having no clue how they got to the number 7, much like The 7th Saga.

Damn, I did wonder that for a while, but then I was reliably reassured that Japan had been making these games for years, so I just took it in my stride, wishing I could play the other 6.
On topic: It’s weird that my opinion of the series is sort of in flux at the moment because of some of the zealots who comment on the games, and me leaping in to defend all of them. Kind of reminds me of good points and bad points of the series as a whole.
Best male FF character: Ramza or Delita, FF Tactics. ‘Nuff said.
Best female FF character: Terra. I mean, c’mon, who could deny this?
Best FF villian: St. Ajora, Tactics. Best buildup to the confrontation with the final villian I’ve run across in an FF game. Plus, it’s the best ironic situation in any game I’ve played in that you’re supposed to obliterate the Christ figure in that world.
Best FF game in the series: Tossup between Tactics and FF6. I can’t decide between the two on this one. But one thing is for sure, none of the numbered FF’s from 7 on to X-2 can compare to Tactics or 6. They are pale shadows of those two games, punctuated by spiffy graphics, bad voice acting, and less-than-stellar dialogue/scripts.
