Now I normally don’t like people like that but Wakka had a very traumatizing day of his life:
(summary)
After discovering that he has been traveling with an al bhed, and his companions didn’t tell him, ends up killing a maester and being called a traitor, fights against yevon and the guado with the al bhed on his side, ends up flying in a machina and using it to find yuna followed by several series of discoveries about yevon betraying their own teachings, then ends up killing lady yunalesca. <= of course that’s only half of his shocks.
I’m suprised he didn’t have a mental breakdown with what happened with a few hours of his life. Most of what he believed in and stood for (in a blind way) was thrown out the window for him, and the guy was lost.
Do you think a stubborn person like that needs such a jolt to wake up or was that to much?
But one thing that made Wakka more human was that he was a pretty cheery guy and he thinks a lot. I’m pretty sure that while he went through everything, he started to have doubts and sometimes even if he goes berserk, he actually sits and thinks about it.
He doesnt accept the truth, because hes just naiv. A lot of people are like that, even if theyre brighter! They think, if I dont talk about a thing, its not there. And they dont want to believe, how things are going sometimes. They cant accept that. 🙁
Im not blaming on him, I just like him. He just wants everything to be fine…. 😀
He was a strong believer in Yevon, and finding out that everything he ever believed in was one big and malicious lie, and discovering that the church of Yevon was rotten to the core, is a thing that is not easy to accept for someone like him.
Wakka certainly went through a lot of things, the first one being his brother’s death, at least. Wakka seems to represent the average Spira-inhabitant: Blitzball-loving, Yevon-admiring guy, who’s living life at the fullest because as he painfully knows, it’s damn short. He’s lost at least one close person to Sin, and wants to contribute to the battle against Sin by becoming Yuna’s guardian.
In other words, Wakka is underrated.
I think the events from the party being at Home going up to the moment that Sin is defeated happened over a longer time than you think. I reckon it was probably more like a couple of weeks rather than a day or two.
Wakka had time to adjust. His opinion of Al Bhed had already begun to alter unconsciously through his friendship with Rikku.
Plus the betrayal of the people of Yevon to the party because they were doing the right thing also helped Wakka come to terms with the fact that maybe his beliefs were not the truth.
Wakka was a cool character. Interesting, always willing to help. His strength of character is without doubt from what happened.
not with me i didnt bother hiring him 😀
i think andthis is my opinion that wakka represent the people of spira. he had blind fath and was jsut a kind guy who was jsut willing to help but had no real guidense and he like nost people had to deal with a lot of loss
Yep, this is what I believe, too. Wakka is just the perfect citizen of Spira….. 😉
Wakka is cool. He’s one of the funniest characters in the game. Even though he’s not so bright (even though that makes him funny), you can tell he’s very determined and dedicated. I mean, if you lost every blitz game for how many years, but you still have the courage to train, etc.? And then to give up blitz, the thing he enjoys most, to fully guard the one who’s like a sister to him? Geez, that’s deep. And about him not accepting the truth or anything, you see, he doesn’t want things to change. Spira is going through a lot as it is. If you make one little change, it could make things much much worse. He doesn’t want that to happen.
BTW, Wakka is my fav. character.
And I think he’s made a bit more stupider in FFX-2 to make more humor. But, it also adds more to his character, if you look deep enough.
