Doom train

Im not sure if this has been asked b 4 but…watever. I hered that u can get doom train the first time that your free around esthar, i no u could build up the steel pipes before going there and the remedy+s and the solomon ring there in esthar at tears point, but how do u get the malboro tentacles.

You can get the Marlboro tentakles with fighting against him. Sometimes it will leave some after a battle. But this won’t be that often. 😉

Maybe you can get them if you turn a card into an item, but I forgot. Sorry 🙁

If you have 10 Malboro cards you can modify them for 1 Malboro tentacle.

So if your planning to get the cards, make sure you have blind, confuse, sleep, and bio on your status defense list. and someone should have the card ability.

if not i mugged Malboro a few 100 times 😀 and I got like 1 malboro tentacle

If you want them to drop them, make sure you don’t Mug them. If you Mug an enemy successfully, it doesn’t drop anything. You’ll probably get more from a drop than from a Mug if it does drop them, and if you can survive the battle. Sometimes it might drop Curse Fangs though (I think that’s the item.) If you really wanna try your hand at the cards, there are card players around Esthar who do sometimes use the Malboro card.

I found some stats on malboro if they may help

HP: 1410 ~ 146,000
Weak: Fire and Ice. Immune to Earth. Absorbs Poison

There is a higher rate of Malboros dropping malboro tentacles than curse spikes or hypno crowns. the probability of mugging a malboro and getting a malboro tentacle is high since thats the only item you can mug! and if you do the card command enough times you can get the tonberry king card.

yes, but how do u get to them on the 3rd disk? I only no how to get to them on the 4th disk.

And sometimes Marlboro drops more tentacles, when Odin shows up….. 😉

I think, this is the way I got them. 🙂

You can refine marlboro cards to marlboro tentacle or you can run around Esthar(not in the city) and fight againts it.Have Quistis with st-def confuse,Bersek, elem-atk Blizagga and the treatment command.Also have her in critical status and as soon as she wakes up use the treatment and then use her limit break Degenerator to kill it instantly.

If I remember correctly you get the ragnarok in the 3rd disk. So as soon as you have it dont go to Esthar, go to either the Island closest to hell or heaven and there you can encounter LOADS of malboros.

Uh….Solaris, it’s actually 4 Malboro Cards for 1 Malboro Tentacle.

You use six of these items:Remedy, Malboro Tentacle, and Steel Pipes. Then you use the ring.

I wouldn’t reccommend fighting the Malboros because I couldn’t even touch ’em :(. I just got 24 of the cards and I found it easier that way.

Ahh, I knew I was wrong on something, I havent played FF8 in a while, well that clears it up for him 😀 thanks.

It depends really if you were a good card player, I was really sucky so I just fought. you gain a good amount of exp out of it though, so its a well earned fight.

I’m sorry, your also supposed to make your remedys into Remedy+’s.

i got my Marlboro Tentacles long before i got to Doomtrain, because i’m an avid Triple Triad player 🙂 you need about 24 Marlboro cards for all 6 tentacles. takes a lot of time and card playing, but hey, no trouble if you like Triple Triad!

i suggest level-upping before you fight the marlboros, with some decent limit breaks on hand. junction bio, sleep, confuse and blind to status defense. then go kick some serious marlboro butt.

oh yeah, i let them drop the tentacles instead of mugging them. they dropped more, if i remember correctly. but i could be wrong.

That’s what I did. I just got all 24 cards. I can’t even touch the Malboros. You have to like get your status defense 100% and none of the spells do that. It was easier for me to get the cards because I could never beat a Malboro, but I beat Ultima Weapon. I know, sad huh? I could beat Ultima Weapon, but not a stinkin’ Malboro.

I was always able to keep my status at 100%. You just have to have 100 of each junctioned.

I just cant stand that random rule, it kills me all the time so I perfered fighting

The random rule is the most annoying rule! So I got the Malboro cards from the begining where the random rule isn’t yet revealed.
But that’s the thing, I only had two status magic options to junction. I couldn’t use all of them. He still was hard.

Or you could just eliminate the Random rule, which would make things a whole lot easier. Noting the fact that this thread is a discussion of how to get Doomtrain and not how to play the Card game or anyone’s particular difficulties in fighting Malboro, I’m going to close this, since I think the question has been asked and answered and the original poster has long moved on by now.
