I’ve seen the lot in Japanese ages ago, but it was poor quality and didn’t have that certain ADV glow that comes with the American voice actors. (i ‘heart’ Hilary Haag and Tiffany Grant!) XD
Apparently, they’ve got the voice actress for Excel (from Excel Saga) to play Rurufus and she’s mega screechy so i’m kinda reluctant to buy disc 2! O_o
Anyone like FFU?
i dont know what its about, does it have any relation to the games?
help a poor soul out
I didnt enjoy any of it, cept the chocobos!
FF Unlimited wasn’t bad, in my opinion, but it could have been a lot better. The summon animations looked stupid and mechanical, and got repeatitve after a while, with Kaze and his summoning gun seemed to be relied on (particulary in the early episodes) as the show’s deus ex machina to get the main protagonists out of trouble.
The Phantom Train was an interesting concept though, as was the main antagonist, the Count, being an avatar of Chaos, which was feeding off the decadence and corruption of worlds, including our own. But, alas, the TV network that was funding it wanted it to appeal more to children, and so Studio GONZO was forced to water down such concepts so as to not make them too unsettling or destructive (the forces of the Commodin resistence force for instance, use blow darts instead of guns as weapons), as well as having a couple of squawking kids as the main characters.
And, unfortunately, such concepts remain unresolved, as the series was cancelled halfway through the story arc. It was continued in Japan in manga form though.
Really, Studio GONZO’s recent magnum opus Last Exile was far superior though to FFU, which is almost FF in many ways. But that’s another story…
Everytime the group not in trouble, Kaze popped out of nowhere and blasted them with his demon gun!
The summons were extremely cool!
in the uk it cost 80-100 for the whole set. i saw the whole series on fansub before it got a license in the west. i haven’t seen the english version but i’m assuming the characters have lost alot of their coolness by terrible voicework(as happens in many anime), although i could easily be wrong. Kaze and Whitecloud are brilliant in the version i watched.
