I’m a newbie so if i stuck this in the wrong section bear with me.

I was just wondering if anyone knew where i could get a uk and ireland or a european listing for cosplay events,?

also i’d like to know if any of you guys have cosplayed, and who’d you go as?

Yeah Beatrix is cool, presumably you’re talking about the one from FFix?
Ionce found a list that had nearly every state on it but i can’t find it anymore. I’d love to cosplay as black mage rikku, but i’m gonna go for an easy card captor sakura costum until i get used to stitching. 🙂

Firstly, if you want to know more about cosplay, Cosplay.com at www.cosplay.com is probably the best place to start out, as they have members from all over the world, who can offer you all kinds of advice and encouragement, although I think the events listed there are from the US and Japan only.

Anime and cosplay events worldwide are also listed at Fansview at www.fansview.com (even a link to the site of my local Aussie anime convention, WAI-Con, is there), however, the actual reports on the site are for US and Canadian conventions.

As someone else has already mentioned, try a Google search, as I’ve ended up on quite a few UK and European cosplay sites whenever I’ve searched for cosplay through Google, so it is definetely there!

oh ducky i found the list, well, not the original one, turns out its on cosplay.com ^_^ (i found it before Enkidoh mentioned it though)
one thing that annoys me about cosplay is all the short skirts :P, luckily rikku wears alot of over-the-knee socks!!

first off all, if you have any trouble tie him down, its easier to get measurements without ppl squirming all over the place.

I’ve been dying to do some cosplay myself, but don’t want to go alone. I don’t know anyone up here where I’m at, anyone willing to dress up with me. I even have been working on my costume, ( Hikaru from Magic knights Rayearth) even have a picture of the idea for the costume. lots of problems….

Ahem,… What about Manifest (Melbourne), Animania (Sydney), AV-Con (Adelaide), Supernova (Brisbane and Sydney), Anime AU (Canberra), WAI-Con (Perth) and any other Aussie anime convention I failed to mention, all of which have popular cosplay competitions as a main event? Not to mention local anime clubs also often have their own cosplay events (or, at the very least my local one does).

To me at least, it seems cosplay is well supported here down-under, mainly owing to Australia’s close proximity to Japan and a significant Asian population, many of whom are anime and gaming fans. You just have to know where to look…
