Give all your thoughts and opinions on the PS3, Xbox2, and Revolution. Tell what you think the prices of the systems are going to be, when you think they will hit the shelves, what system will be the best, which one are you going to buy, etc?
Xbox 2 is almost certainly going to be the first to come out, possibly by the end of 2005. It seems a little hard for me to believe that. The end of 2005 just doesn’t feel like the start of the ‘Next Generation’. That terms still feels like it won’t be here for at least a couple more years, when in reality all three of the new systems will be out by 2006, probably.
It’s hard for me to admit this, but at the moment, I’m more stoked at getting the Xbox 2 than the Revolution. That may be partly due to the fact that next to nothing has been released about Nintendo’s latest installment in the console market, but that’s beside the point. Xbox is the most powerful system out there right now, by a good margin to. I don’t see how Sony and/or Nintendo is going to be able to come up with something that can compete with the raw power of Xenon (which is another name for Xbox 2).
So, your thoughts?
Because I was under the impression that Sony was in a comfortable lead in console sales, and I am quite content with the quality of games that Nintendo develops. =/

Good point.
I guess by raw power, I meant more along the lines of the capabilities of the systems itself. If you look at what the current systems are capable of doing, Xbox is the most powerful. That’s probably what I meant by that statement.
Sony is still #1 in terms of their PS2 sales, unless I read something wrong.
As for next generation consoles, I don’t know when they are going to be released, and really that doesn’t matter to me much. I’ve seen some previews for games that will be on the next system and from what I’ve seen, the Next-box definitely has the advantage, both in graphics and in a good game lineup.
I personally think it is too early to bring out these consoles. As is shown by Halo 2 and Chronicles of Riddick: Butcher Bay, the X-box still hasn’t reached it’s full potential and still has the capabilities to make better looking games. The visuals I’ve seen from the next generation are great, but are not as significantly better than the current generation as the current generation was to the PSX and N64. I just hope they spend enough time making these systems high quality and stable.
Alot of people that I know think differently, so that can’t refer to most people.
Lately I’ve been wondering what the PS3 Will look like, Maybe A Triangular pyramid type thing would be different, but its a little far-fetched.
Any Thoughts?
Thankyou,

The advantage Sony has over Microsoft is easily CELL. Xenon is being developed on current generation hardware – ie, it will be like the Xbox, a PC motherboard, CPU and graphics card in a box. Even if it’s the same as the highest-possible Pentium out there, with the highest possible Radeon card (last I heard, ATI was doing Xenon graphics development – i’m not sure now, though), it won’t match the CELL in terms of processing power. The CELL processor can pump out billions of floating point operations in a second, and the PlayStation 3 could have any number of these chips working in series.
That, and PS3 isn’t being released until sometime around mid-late 2006, so it’s got the edge on the Xenon by at least 6 months development time. I’ve got a feeling that Microsoft’s presence won’t be as high as Sony’s in the next generation.

Yeah just wait until you trip over your shoe and get impaled in the head by one of the points. GJ THERE!
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Revolution did look something like that. Very sleek and sexy in my opinion.
I don’t think PS3 will look too incredibly different than the PS2… same with Microsoft, I can’t see them changing the design too much. I’m sure Microsoft will make their system a bit lighter due to the complaints about the last one, but that’s probably it.
– It is going to have "broadband capabilties"
– Mario, Zelda and Metroid games are DEFINATELY going to make an appearance.
Anyway, I am still undecided as to what console to get. The PS3 looks great, and it has the Final Fantasy contract, The Xbox 2 will obviously have better graphics than the PS3, and I like alot of the "Xbox exclusive" games, and I heard they were doing a Fable 2. but the Revolution, man! I love, and always will love the Nintendo console, and with online capabilities (or so rumoured), it’ll be strengthened in the console war, imo.
Also I read somewhere that the Xbox 2 will be the first system to incorporate wireless controllers as the standard controller, which would be awesome. I’ve used wireless mice and controllers for years and they are really tons better than wired stuff. Although I’m probably being bombareded with cancer inducing rays. 😛
Why are you still posting? Especially when all you can do is post unsubstantiated versions of the ‘facts’. If you’re talking about graphical power, the ONLY thing which can be confirmed in those two run-on sentences is that developers are SAYING the PlayStation 3 appears to be more powerful than the Xbox 2. It is also interesting to note that neither system specs have been confirmed yet.
As for the power of the Revolution, nothing has been said about it. You’re just guessing that because Nintendo says ‘graphics don’t matter’ that they’re not going to try – which is ridiculous, because they had the second-most-powerful system this generation. The GameCube outstrips the PlayStation 2 graphically.
The main stuff I know is that:
Xbox 2 is suposedly going to be unveiled this month at the Game Developers Conference (or last month =\) And will be actually seen working at E3 in May, and will be released in at least America for Christmas 2005. I doubt this highly. The rumours include it being backward compatible with the Xbox, have the ability to communicate with home PC’s and come in different specifications, with and without a hard drive.
Nintendo Revolution is meant to be the hardest of the three to pin down. Satoru Iwata has said that the Revolution will cause a "paradigm shift" which means great big change in gaming and will be unveiled at this years E3. Rumours are that the console will have broadband access out of the box and hard drive and the controllers will use tilt sensing gyroscope technology and will link up to the next gen Game Boy.
A PS2 spokesman has said that rhe chip set will be "the most feature rich and powerful, we have ever created", and then added that they weren’t actually going to call this console the Playstation 3. And the PS3 will hold Blu-ray disks that hold up to 25GB of data.
80% of this is likely to be rumours/bulshit, its just info that I collect over the interweb and in magazines in my sad life ;(
I’m talking processing power, not disc capacity, man – and it’s evident when you see titles like Viewtiful Joe which are GameCube native, and then ported to the PlayStation2. The PS2 version runs at a lower frame-rate, and lags.
The same goes for Resident Evil 4 – Capcom has gone on record to say that the PlayStation2 version will have to be tuned down graphically in order to run.
Besides, i’m not sure about the MGS on 1 disk thing fits in? I’ve got Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which is the MGS1 remake with MGS2 graphics – and it runs smoother than its PlayStation2 brethren. Two discs, still.

I was not saying graphical power or anything like that I was saying the order I was told they were supposed to come out in you nitwit.
If u read what I was saying about the revlotutions I was saying that its supposed to be better than all of them from what I’ve heard.
God quit attacking people without fully reading their posts and understanding what they were saying. You could have atleast said "hey were you saying the order of the superiority of the systems or something else" first before just attacking.

Okay, now that you’ve explained yourself fully, i’ll ‘attack’ you again.
For one thing, I don’t know where you get your information from, but it’s all bullshit. I read respected sites like http://www.gamesindustry.biz, Gamespot and IGN – what do you read, OMGNintendorox.com? The systems are coming out in this order – Xbox 2 first, at the end of this year, and the PS3 and Revolution (Revolution is the code name btw, not revolutions) are coming out late NEXT year.
And I don’t know where you heard the Revolution was going to be the best, because no-one knows anything about it yet – not even games development companies. Nintendo’s keeping a low profile, which means they’re either sitting on something big, or they’re stalling for time.
To be honest, I didn’t feel the need to ask the question because I really didn’t think anyone would be stupid enough to suggest that sort of order, considering that the fact the Xbox 2 is coming out first has been all over the internet.
There is nothing I hate more than false information, because it makes the truth harder to find – in the future, before you post, actually check your sources, eh?
And if you go to Sony’s website, the PS3 is going to kick butt. Don’t forget to stop by Microsoft and read when they say that Xbox 2 is going to kick butt as well. Seriously, of course Nintendo’s website is going to say that.
whats going to make Nintendo even more pissed is eventually microsoft is eventually gonna take over Nintendo. This day in age kids are into violence and war which is what the Xbox gave them, Nintendo is 70% kiddy games for those 8 and under. I think eventually Microsoft will buy out Sony, EVENTUALLY. But im never buying another Nintendo product unless it really looks good. Im gonna stick with Sony for the time being, and I’ll think about microsoft.
Trekkies, I’ve already torn through your veneer of bullshit on this issue before. I’ve spent a lot of time looking at games news recently. Iwata is trying to create the sort of console that anyone can play with. He wants to sell to EVERYONE. Especially people who aren’t gamers at the moment.
Please, Trekkie.
Oh, also.
PSO IS A GAME BY SEGA. SEGA ARE NOT NINTENDO. IT WAS A GAME MADE FOR THE DREAMCAST, A SEGA CONSOLE. SHUT UP ABOUT FUCKING PSO.
I’m ready for you nonetheless. I will begin on your next post. I know more than you, I am smarter than you, and I am far more willing to go and quote from bizarre sites you’ve conveniently ignored. Blah blah blah.
Oh dear. You just made me search for the Nintendo release schedule list.
Found it right on their own site.
Up and coming releases (just for the GC, because I had to reformat this) THAT ARE ACTUALLY NINTENDO AS IN NINTENDO’S OWN PRODUCTS.
GC –
DK: Jungle Beat
Donkey Konga 2
Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball
Geist
Starfox Assault
Nintendo DS –
WarioWare: Touched!
Pokmon Dash
Polarium
Kirby: Canvas Curse
GBA –
Warioware – Twisted
Fire Emblem – The Sacred Stones
Yoshi Topsy Turvy
Pokmon Emerald
I see one, maybe three (at a stretch) non-kiddy-centric games on there. And Starfox really is pushing it. Unless you honestly believe that Warioware isn’t kiddy centric, that pokmon is victim of bad press, that Fire Emblem’s cartoony visuals aren’t really cartoony.
I have a great time with your bullshit. Because you seem so sure about it.
I dare you to name 15 FIRST-PARTY developed Nintendo games that are aimed PRIMARILY at an adult audience.
And no-one is disupting that games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart are fun – hell, my friends and I play Mario Party on occaision. But they are not aimed at the 18-25 primary gaming audience, and that’s what MMM is trying to say. They’re targeting an audience where they are the leaders, and making their profits where they can. They’ve even said themselves that the Nintendo DS is to fit beside the PSP, not be a competition to it – and if it’s not a competition, it means they’re going for a different sort of gamer.
EDIT: Just before you say them, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness are not first-party Nintendo. They were developed by Retro Studios and Silicon Knights, respectively.
Alright then, a floor of games journalists sat around playing Dead or Alive: Ultimate and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory constantly. The only other games that were played were Wipeout Pure and God of War. None of those are on the gamecube, and none of them are kiddy games. Here, let’s use your logic – that means none of the gamecube’s games are good, because people I know said it was.
EDIT: I made a mistake, Donkey Konga isn’t first party, it’s made by Namco.
Bungie is a company owned by microsoft.
You lose.
God of War.
Which is an excellent game, by the way.
Also, Trekkie, please don’t get me started either. I’m in the mood to do the full monty to prove you wrong.

Hades ruins it. Really.
Not to mention sweet, sweet Wipeout.
Trekkies ass has been banned. Way.
