Rap is ok I like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre westside rap you know. But I prefer punk rock, punk, rock, or hip hop over rap.

There’s plenty of goot rap (IE mc chris (http://www.mcchris.com/)) it’s just that popular rap, the rap most of you have probably listened to, has no substance and is pretty damn dull like Lindsey Lohan or Avril Lavigne.

Most mainstream type rap is pretty dreadful.

Stuff like The Streets and Handsome Boy Modeling School is pretty neat though.

I hate rap. It’s a mixture of some stupid beat and someone yelling: Nigga’s in the street, or baby, shake your ass. I think that people who adore rap only like it cos there are so many women in one video or they wanna be gangsta stuff and all.

99.9% of rap is absolutely terrible.

Yes, there’s a lot of shit rap, but its not just "a drum with people talking". If you actually listen to it some of the good stuff, a lot of it has some prty clever lyrics, even if they aren’t deep or meaningful. But I can see where most of you are coming from. I’m not a big fan of some types of music. However, those of you who just say "RAP IS SHIT LOL" can piss off, because until you can justify your opinions, they’ll mean basically shit.

as far as it not being music- no, it doesn’t usually have guitars, pianos, etc. playing. A lot of it is "can" music, but so is a ton of other music that you guys listen to ;( Personally, its a lot easier to dance to some rap songs than it is to metal or rock. why? Because its got a good beat to dance to, and its music.

Actually, since I listen to EDM a great deal of the time, I guess I have a stronger opinion on it than most. Yes, it’s repetative, but that’s the whole nature of the genre. While it make sound like "just computer sounds beep beep boop boop", it’s actually not. Some songs are incredibly complex, with many layers of instruments and sounds. But back to "general EDM talk".

While it’s my number one preference for music, I’m open to everything. I don’t mind the occasional rap, metal, pop, or country song. I’m not about to be all disrespectful to someone if they’re listening to a certain type of music in the car or something. Music is music, and I usually can tap my foot along the beat of any song. So before you start knocking random genres of music you don’t even listen to, I suggest either a) becoming more tolerant or b) formulating a decent opinion before bashing a genre. "LOL ITS REPETATIVE" isn’t a good reason.

I totally understand about the lack of opinion justification. I am not a fan of rap. The reason being is that I find that the songs sound similar (well what I have listened to anyway). And I just cant get into it. Thats my opinion, though! I totally 100% respect all those opinions of people who like rap.
What I meant about it not being music is regarding the vocals. The rapper seems to "talk" most of the time.

I listened to that "Encore" album by Eminem and I just didnt like it! I dislike Eminems character anyway, but I just hate the music.

I am not saying my taste in music is perfect, becuase alot would think it isnt (however i love The Mars Volta, Cassie, got their new album on Saturday!). Anyway, yeah, an opinion is an opinion, and that is mine.
