In need of advice

Hi all,
Final Fantasy 8 is my first RPG (I am more of an action game fan) I played most of the game with no help or game guide, and now I think I have gotten myself into so trouble. I am in desperate need of advice from some experts out there!

Here is my status:
I am on Disk 3 with the Ragonaouk (spelling?)

Squall 99lv
Renoa 39lv
Selphie 18lv
Irvine 76lv
Zell 80lv
Quintis 35lv

I do NOT have many of the GFs, Here is what I have got:

Ifit
Quezacotl
Shiva
Alexander
Cactaur
Diablos
Tonberry King

I now realise that I can not get any more (except for Bahamut) due to the fact that most of the GFs had to be drawn for bosses that I have already defeated.

Is it possible to beat the game with only these few GFs? or should I just start over again?

Hey man , don’t fret.

First off you should be fine as I think you can still get Eden… not sure because I haven’t gotten him. But you have Diablos and some others. Make sure there high level.

If I were you I woulndn’t really be worried about how many Gf’s you have, I would be worried about if your characters are alright (Ex. does squall have Elemental attack and Def. etc.) Work on getting ultimate Limit Breaks *or whatever they are called in FF8* and weapons.

Squall is lvl 99 , I think youll be just fine, that is if you wanna beat the game, as for finishing touch naa, your screwed if you wanna ultimately master the game, other than that you should be fine.

Oh oh oh I think you can still get doom train, go to the Lunar Tear or something like that, it’s to the East of Esthar and south of the Lunatic pandora *before it moves*

don’t worry in disc four you can draw jsut about all the GF’s you have missed out of bosses in ultimecis’s castle. other than that i think you can get all the other GF’s where you are at.

…and remember, go to the deep sea research center a.k.a. warship island to get bahamut, train a little bit, talk to everyone in the ragnarok and go back to warship island, the you can fight ultima weapon and draw eden out of him.

if you have problems finding the warship island, find a ff8 map. actually you should find it easy to go there, it’s like in the edge of the map on screen, in the left…

make good use of the cards because you may be high levels but that isn’t necessarily a good thing in ff8 make sure you have good junctions that is the mos timportant thing.

aye,you need most of the character cards and GF cards to mod them into items which can be modded into spells.missing a few GF’s though you wont be able to mod everything.No Pandemona,no Tornado,no Cerberus no Haste christ youve missed a lot of em,no Siren no Curaga and Full-Life.christ you made it hard for yourself.you can get Eden from Ultima Weapon(if you have Lionheart he’s easy)Tonberry from killing 15-20 Tonberrys in the Centra Ruins(you also get Odin here)

Don’t worry. It is your first time playing this game, it’s normal that you didn’t get everything.

Yes, of course you can still beat the game. I always get all GF’s but I never use them in battles. I’m a lot better and quicker in using my limits. And some of the characters have some pretty good ones.

Like dark_atom_5 mentioned already, you can still get them later in the game (Ultimecias castle).

Right now, you can still get Tonberry (get Odin at first to get rid of the time counter). You can also get Bahamut and Eden, and depending on the items you’ll be able to get Doomtrain too.

To get Tonberry you need to kill 20 regular small ones. Right after the last one is killed, Tonberry King shows up to revenche all these Tonberry’s.

In case you can’t find anything now, don’t worry, finish the game the way it is and start a new game after that. This (and other FF) are always good for a replay. 😉

Take a deep breath, then let it out.(I sound like my shrink…..) it’s alright, i only have the basic GFs and i still beat the game. Let your hp get low, then poung the hell outta what’s-her-face. that’s what I did

you really don’t need those boring GF’s (well they’re boring at the end :p)
just go to island closest to heaven, or island closest to heaven and search until you have 100 ultimas, 100 triples and 100 full-lifes, junction the ultimas on your strength, the triples on your speed and the full-lifes on your HP.
if you do this, you will do 9999HP damage with a normal attack, you will have 9999 HP and if your character kills a monster, his turn comes back up before the monster hits the ground. This works much better then those GF’s.
then in a battle use aura on your strongest character (probably squall) and use his/her limit break

my GF’s were kinda overkill ..
I merely used for the Junction abilities .. I mean it is cool to have Elem-Def-Jx4 and junctioning so that you absorb 90 % of all Elemental magic ..
I used Cactuar, Eden, Doomtrain and Cerberus a lot though ..
Cactuar en Eden for the Non-Elem damage (Cactuar has a short movie ..)
Cerberus because when trying to Devour something Triple-Demi works real well. Doomtrain because it really cuts defenses and vs the most bosses it matters 🙂

Hey u r doing great. First time eh? They r pretty good levels. Most of my m8’s that dont like FF’s is because they aint got the required patience for training. Well done:) I have a question though. Why did u choose FF8?

I didn’t really use many GFs at the end of the game, anyway. You should be ok.

Booo at Selphie being only at 18! 😉 I used her and Quistis almost exclusively!

at least you have diablos.. game would be crazy hard without him… but anyway.. you can beat the game.. and also you ll get a chance to draw the rest of the GF’s before the final boss in ultimecia (spelling)’s castle..

your high lvl is not going to make it easy though as you might know, high lvl in FF8 is as bad as low lvl in any other rpg
