A Squenix representative told us that the movie will go on sale – both on DVD and UMD – "by the end of 2005". That’s providing everything goes to plan, apparently, but the representative promised: "We’re doing our best to get it out this year."

The news follows reports on US websites saying that the film will get a simultaneous DVD release in Japan and North America on September 14. There’s still no word of an official UMD launch date, however.

I would love to see a remake of 7 and 8, but they would have to redo the code for the game and that cost a lot of time and money.

Something that would be cool, but not possible, is if they did a dual release, where they sold the movie and game as a bundle, or seperately but at the same time, i’d be willing to be there and pay full price for it.

No, it’s not true, though Square-Enix does seem to be making quite a few deals with Microsoft regarding the XBox 360. FFXI and FFXII will be appearing on the Xbox 360, along with a few other RPGs made by Square-Enix.

It’s to the song "Unwell" by Matchbox 20. I pulled out a really old one I didn’t know I have, but I’m still missing critical footage: Sephiroth in the flames. I checked there, but the weren’t downloadable. I’ll try adventchildren.net and see what I find.

as soon as I put the final touches on my AC music video, it will be done. My sister found the footage I needed. The only problem is, I have no where to host a file this big. He is sick of people saying Halo 2 story was lacking and that the ending sucked, he says damn Americans who love to have closure. He says that Multiplayer is the best around, online is damn amazing and you can’t really beat it.

Well anyway enough of what he says, though I’m not a Halo fan myself I can’t comment.

But surely this film can’t be bad, it in the hands of the creaters, it’s not a Hollywood produced movie game adaptation so they can’t really get it wrong.

And advent children looks great so far, at least visually it does….

Advent Children is obviously going to be better than most movies you see out there (Star wars had bad acting; Advent Children is CG characters). I am sure the fight scenes are going to AMAZING since real people might mess up or make it look unrealistic but it’s Cloud and we know he can fly 100 feet in the air to do Claimhazard. WE know yuffie can jump off spinning and shit while throwing glaives. We KNOW Vincent can fly. It may be hyped up but its not like we don’t know what is coming. We jus want to be hit with the cool factor. WE WANT to see sephy vs cloud. All of us do. They held it from us in the American Kingdom hearts and it dissapointed a lot of people. If nothing else…we want Cloud vs Sephiroth and that deserves all the hype we can offer.

None the less, i’m in this because i want to see some summoned creatures and special effects. and i think they made a movie because it is more secure then making a game, AS it would be pretty much impossible for them to keep up the standards… have people noticed how games are generally declining in overall quality..??

Ah counting the days how sad am I but it gets me through everyday, but you now how long summer drags on for.

Well I will take your advice I will replay the game and I will get my stats up as high as they can go but I will not masturbate I will get a women to masturbate for me while I’m playing the game, that’s right two things at once, when it comes to Final Fantasy 7 its both at the same time or it’s none.

AC will be as good as the hype, I mean, look at the graphics, the characters, heck, even the new characters are just plain awesome.

Also, they have to fully translate it for a joint US realease, i say, WHAT ABOUT EUROPE!!???

Yeah, FFVII fans are a mean bunch. Personaly, i think, i hope it will be good if not great. I hope the movie doesn`t depend too much on the game and i also hope it doesn`t end with many question left unanswered for Crisis core to pick up on.

FFVII in the cinema wouldn`t work, Although it does have a huge fan base, it isn`t big enough to succed in the box office. Plus with the money they lost making Spirits within, there not gonna put there hand back in the fire.

Regarding Spirits within, it revolved around the lifestream, the planets resource. Remember at the end, we can see the lifestream rising up out of the crater.

Also, a little side note: The same guy who created the lifestream for Spirits within did it in FFVII.

Also, it is going to be better on DVD, personaly i think it will feel a bit more personal.

i’m all good for the DVD, this way i can watch it all i want, when i want, and whatever bits i want… now all i’m missing is a home theatre system :(, lol. I wonder if it’s gonna turn out so that you wouldn’t have to know the game to be able to understand the movie, ’cause that way it could be a good movie to watch in company…

I think you guys misunderstood me… I dodn’t say Halo2 was a bad game. I own it I play it damn near everyday… I just think that the reason everybody else says it sucks it because it had SOOO much hype about it that evreybody was expecting this almighty godlike game and it wasn’t, it was just a great game. Damn. I think I misunderstood you. Even so, some people didn’t like Halo 2 because it wasn’t godlike. It was not what they were expecting. What are we expecting from Advent Children? Cloud’s Limit Breaks? Check. Sephiroth? Check. All characters making a return? Check (Rude controlled CAit Sith and he is heere so Cait Sith is not necessary). Kickass battle scenes (The trailers alone man). Check.

Well it intially started off as an exercise for the Square team. They were given an assignment and they choose to make a very short FFVII movie (which was the original footage of Cloud fighting Kadaj). So yeah, it`s taken around 3 years but i don`t blame them for taking so long. Hell, they can delay it for another 3 years to make sure it`s good for all i care.

You can wait, I can’t. they really need to release it in Japan so the fansubbers can do their job and release it for free online. :smrt:

Yeah, Kadaj`facial animation in the new trailer was superb.
Also lets not forget Bahamut, putting weight in a 3d model is very hard to do, i`ve tried…

I’m going to restart my projects in 3DSmax, and make my dragon and possibly the minatour again… please note people, BACKUP is not just some random crap some person thought of… it actually means something… i know, i learned the hard way 🙁

my minatour took sooo long to make… i mean i didn’t even e-mail myself a picture… i showed one of my friends, and when i told them i sortta killed my HDD’s partition and had to format… they almost killed me. oh well, lesson learned :).

but about the AC Bahamut, completely a personal opinion here, but i think that it would have been better if they went for the original Bahamut design, it was simple, it was menacing and dark, and it weilded the power to do damage. The attack would have also been just as good to incorporate into the movie, it’s pretty much the same.

ok you guys have seen the newest trailer on the north american ac site right? well it’s kinda wierd, but if you pay real close attention at the end when cloud is standing on his sword which is stuck in the side of a building, when he looks up you can see what looks like a person flying at the building! then the next scene shows the building falling on cloud and then sephiroth jumping at him. at first I thought the person flying at the building was kadaj but looking at it a little more closely it looks like it is probably sephiroth. and this is a scene just after the fight between cloud and kadaj cuz it’s the same building that they were fighting on. so that means that seph is definitely, 100% back as something other than a memory, and that he is obviously really pissed, powerfull, and wanting to kick clouds ass! This also leaves other things in the movie open to debate, but I’ll leave those for a later discussion.

as for the cover, it could be any one of three things (the three being mentioned here; the AC poster, the logo, or Cloud with his glasses)

If they use the poster like one, then cloud or seph on the front, and the other one on the back, and the spine will be the name… or something like that i’m thinking.

My guess would be a light blue photo shop mix of several characters and key places/objects in the movie to be the cover.

That’s a pretty good assumption, but I never think about what the packaging will be like due to the fact that sometimes, the developers select a cover design much different than from what I expected. Examples? Hideo Kojima always suprises me with his widely varying cover designs. Check out the simle white of Metal Gear Solid, then the scratchy brush stroke portrait of Snake on the cover of MGS2, the in-game engine cover for the Twin Snakes, and the bright, highly detailed cover for MGS3.

they didnt use the whole original logo they took the world and put sister ray stickin out. which makes it look like the meteor…just sayin

isn’t the original logo just a blue meteor picture behind the title name FINAL FANTASY VII. All they did to the DVD as seen in that site is add ADVENT CHILDREN underneath FINAL FANTASY VII and the meteor pic is the same as it was on the game cover…

yea it is unfair on the general population. They do make it expensive… if DVD’s weren’t as expensive as they are, as well as other media of entertainment, i’d probably buy more… but i can’t really afford it and it’s a shame. But on the occassiona when something like this comes out, i will buy FFVII:AC… i mean it’s not everyday they release it.

i urge you and EVERYONE to buy at LEAST this one DVD even if you don’t buy DVD’s… ;). Make Square proud, and be part of the history… i can only imagine how much FFVII original is gonna be worth when a bit of time passes…

It’s part of the digital cable pack. My server is Comcast. The channel number differs with each server, but G4 is an all-VG, all the time station. Very good if you want info on all sorts of Video Games and the stuff that goes with them. Also, some little reviews will be part of ON-DEMAND, which you get with digital cable.

You don’t have to have HDTV to have G4, but it does make it a little more fun (my friend has it, I don’t)

With the recent denials that a remake of Final Fantasy VII is in the works for the PS3, serveral sites have speculated that this may be Final Fantasy XIII. To this speculation Kitase-san responded…

"As a hint, one thing I can say is that the FFVII technical PS3 demo was supervised by me and created by Toriyama-san (Main Director on Final Fantasy X-2) and his team staff. I’ll leave it to you, but you can imagine that development is happening via a similar process."

I mean i played the game and had to read it, the LEAST i can do is read the movie too!! after that i may watch the english verion and then happily make or visit a thread to complain how bad the english dub is, lol. Sephiroth. Well, at the end of the game, we don’t actually see a CORPSE do we? I don’t remember now, it’s been so long since I played. But doesn’t Vincent mention in one of the trailers that "they" (Kadaj etc i’m assuming) "could make another Sephiroth if they wanted to"… so that could explain why we see him at the end of another trailer.

remember what i said about the normal DVD price?? lol, i have a feeling if the special edition is available in shops here in Aus it will also go for a little less than that price, maybe 150 au at most i reckon. lets say the dvd is 30, the game is 50, the figurine 20, the shirt 30, the keychain and mug a 20… did i leave anything out?? i guess add a 50 for the UMD, that’s 200. realistically speaking, that’s kinda a reasonable price… i’d have to save up a fair bit, but i really want that keychain, and that edition of the FFVII game, with that mysterious 4th disc 😀

Well, i think it really depends on the movie… i mean when it comes out and everyone’s seen it, all the questions could be answered, then there might not be enough to talk about… but the again, it could be such a movie that ONE entire forum dedicated to AC would NOT be enough… i’d wait and see the movie first, and how much discussion there is, then sortta guide the mob to an AC forum where they can be kept under control ;).

the reason Marle looks nothing like Barret is cause she’s not really his. He and His best friend got caught by Shinra on the way home. Dyne supposedly died, so Barret took Marle in, who is Dyne’s daughter. You fight/talk with Dyne later in the game, when you get shoved into the Golden Saucer prison. He explains most of it.

It isn`t "Tifas armband". Everybody in the group has one on their arm or weapon in Yuffies case. I think they signify Geostigma or something.

One video is Cloud walking into the church to find tifa knocked-out in the bed of flowers. Cloud picks her up and she’s mumbling what happened then she jumps up and yells, "MARLINE!" then passes out again. Cloud looks around as if he’s trying to find something then says, "damn."

The other video is Kadaj holding his double sword to Clouds neck telling the children that he’s the big bro and a black sheep. When Cloud hear’s Marline scream his name, Cloud jumps loose and sword fights Kadaj, dodges bullets from Yazoo then fights the 3rd guy who has some kinda "haste" abillity.

they need to just release the thing, i don’t really care about dates anymore, and like Dirge said, people WILL lose interest if they drag it on. I mean honestly, you don’t realise how devoted you guys all are, information on every corner, and SE and/or Sony keep us waiting 😛

There is a working torrent of the Japanese version on the internet. The quality is excellent for a torrent – this isn’t a cam, it’s a proper DVD-rip. There are also a fansub available that is, while not perfect, is good enough.

I just finished watching the movie, and as a Final Fantasy fan, I have to say it is THE movie I have been waiting for since The Spirits Within. I can’t wait until I can get a hold of a UMD version for my PSP.

There is something you need to realise, Aeris has become one with the Lifestream once again so she will not end up with Cloud anytime soon, it just won’t happen. I am tired of people complaining and thinking they will still end up together, she is dead!

Anyways, off from my little rant. I have to give you that, FFVII was pretty simplistic at it’s core. There were only a couple inner things you could get out of it, which was kind of sad since Final Fantasy can get into some kind of deep inner things at times. In the end that is most likely why I like FFVIII more then FFVII…

either way, advent children, as some people have pointed out, stuck to the simplsity of FFVII while giving us deep characters. (well, i guess that does depend on whether you played the game or not)

Loz is powerful enough to stop a motorcycle which is going at around 200 MPH by slamming his fist into the ground and can the throw it at Cloud with his legs. He then beats on Cloud quite badly with his little electric fist weapon and yet Cloud fights back and seems to be pretty unharmed. Yet all it takes is one gun shot through the chest to almost off him? He was already shot in the forhead here and all it did was leave a scar and some blood, come on….

Have you played that Mario Baseball game yet? I have seen it and yet not played it, and was wondering if it was any good? I mean Mario has proved to be able to pull off sports games, Mario Tennis being quite good and all, but a baseball game might be a little to much for the Mario team.

About the TifaCloudAeris love triangle, maybe it wasnt resolved so as not to disappoint the fans of both pairings. Aeris is dead but I think Cloud has a stronger spiritual bond to her and just cause zack was waiting for her doesnt mean that they’re already ‘together.’ geez. Besides, I remember him saying something like "Isnt it good to be yearned for?" to Aeris during the scene where they both heal Cloud. I don’t really expect Cloud to end up with either one of them and I’m just happy that in the end, after seeing Aeris, he finally said to himself "Now I know I’m not alone" and I’m just glad that he learned to smile once again. -_-

Sure, it may be exactly what fans wanted, but it’s sorely lacking as a serious film and does absolutely nothing to further FFVII’s story. It’s nothing more than a glorified side story. It’s rather sad that something like this is bound to be well-liked by fans of the game while Spirits Within, which was actually a decent movie on its own merits, is shunned.

I saw that on Amazon earlier today.
I watched the fan-subbed verison yesterday and cant wait to get this movie on DVD.
