I’ve seen Maximo Park live, and I think they’re absolutely supurb. However, something puzzles me with the Caesars album: wtf happened to it ?_? See, I was listening to them this time last year, but there album was called "32 Minutes of Bliss in an Otherwise Meaningless Life" or something, and it had Jerk It Out on it.
Paper Tigers has Jerk It Out – but also a load of other songs too! So is this there second album, but they just left Jerk It Out on (?_?), or is this some kind of crazy re-release of the other album, with nearly all the songs changed?
Pearl Jam – Ten. Now I had this album for ages on a copied disk, but I much prefer to have the proper album to add to my collection, plus its a fucking great record.
The Mars Volta – L’Via L’Viaquez Single. Obviously, most people here know I am a huge fan, so I have to buy everything of theirs, it comes with an average B Side called "The Bible and The Breathalyzer"
The Flaming Lips – Oh My Gawd!! I’ll admit, I dont think this album is as good as The Soft Bulletin or say Yoshimi, but its still very good, I think it has more of a punk-rock feel to it, and it shows how good a guitarist Wayne really is.
Bj???rk – Homogenic. A brilliant album of all sorts electronic, even the most drum n’ bass track can appeal to an Indie fan.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven. This album defines ‘epic,’ but also has sounds of post-apocalyptica, and general ambience. A brilliant album.
Dinosaur Jr. – Bug. This a fantastic album, one any Indie fan should not be without any second of their life.
My Bloody Valentine – Isn’t Anything. Not as good as ‘Loveless,’ but is still definitley up with the best ‘shoegaze’ records ever.
Portishead – Dummy. A brilliant, moody album. It sounds so sexy as well! Another album any Indie fan shouldn’t be without.
Funeral For A Friend – Hours

i bought it on the strength of their first album, and this one just as good in my opinion
bridge – Preppy Kicks – Shibuya-kei music. My collection will probably start having a lot more of that since the used CD store carries so much of it.

looks at cd*
guess it has no title
At the Drive In – Realtionship of Command. If you like the hardcore/punk sorta movement, this is definately for you because it combines the energy of both, as well as being hugely original.
Bob Dylan – Blonde on Blonde. Harmonica gets a bit annoying, but other than that, its calssic Dylan, fantastic songwriter, fantastic guitarist.
Flaming Lips – Hit to Death in the Future Head. An album that I’ve only recently found out about, which I’m pretty ashamed of, but I have pretty much all of their other stuff. Its a great album, with some truly genius songs.
Thankyou.

I got it today! After one listen, it’s not as good as the first one though, and none of the songs are immediately fun like the two that I uploaded before. Also, the Pop Chocolat CD came today as well and totally kicked its ass.
By "immediately fun" do you mean "the funniest thing ever"? Because if that is the case maybe I would like those ones more.
Poses-Rufus Wainwright

Pipe Dreams-Fingers Cut Megamachine
I’d heard parts of their self titled before, but now that it’s being played through some decent equipment and not my shitty PC speakers, the beauty of the music seems enhanced. I still haven’t listened to Pipe Dreams but the self-titled album is fantastic.

I’ve recently purchased Jacksonville City Nights by Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, and that’s about it. I have few friends who listen to Ryan Adams, but every one of them say that Jacksonville is one of his best and it’s one of his only ones I don’t have.
And I saw ‘We Are Fuck You’ at JB the other day, it’s a punk album by him and Jesse Malin and it was uber cheap, but for some reason I didn’t get it.
Anyway, recent purchases:

Ryan Adams’ ‘Gold’

Sparky (first press <3)
*collecting like mad*
On the rare fluke you ever come back, whats it like? Or can anybody else contribute?
If anyone is an EBM fan, I highly suggest this album. Very harsh, melodic, and Johan’s signature lyrics are bumped up a notch.
I also imported the Hocico live DVD. Again, a phenomenal live DVD mastered to album quality, and the video is outstanding.
The Music – The Music

They’re sure as hell better than [Rapture’s band of choice].

Arashi – Aozora Pedal
Kanjani8 – Osaka Obachan Rock
Pink Floyd-Division Bell
The Beattles-Greatest Hits
How can you not like PF though? ๐
Sheep. :p
Pink Floyd sound pretty boring and tbh i don’t see why people think they are that great, i’ve heard Pink Floyd they don’t sound like the best band in the world to me ;-;;;
Who said anything about the best band in the world?
I don’t think there are best bands in the world, just good bands
I don’t think there are best bands in the world, just good bands
Agreeing.
I’d never take anything a magazine says seriously about best bands or anything like that. Also, anyone who is a true fan of music, doesnt have a favourite band imho. I like PF a lot, but I wouldn’t call them ‘best band ever’ or anything like that.
metallica – and justice for all
megadeth – countdown to extinction
queens of the stone age – songs for the deaf
qotsa is easily the best of those 3. =o
Why not? My favourite band is the Flaming Lips, without a doubt, and I don’t really see how having them, or any other band, as my favourite invalidates being a "true fan of music". But hey, I guess it is a difference of opinion though I don’t quite understand why you hold the opinion you do.
Flips are second to me, The Lillingtons all the way, also Mossy Lillingtons > TBS
On Topic: Bob Dylan- Modern Times <3
Maybe I should have clarified a little bit. There are 1000’s and 1000’s of bands out there. For me it is IMPOSSIBLE to pick a favourite, it just can’t be done, there is too much stuff I adore to pick just one favourite band. Unless you have only one type of music you like, I can’t see anyone else being terribly different.
according to the nme (my dad bought it ok, it’s a bit of a rag), pink floyd’s first is great but the rest are shit, so maybe it’s that sort of thing.
also, the nme worships syd barrett, ftr.
Whilst I acknowledge what you are saying about a diverse mix of bands making it hard to pick one band from it all as being the best, I really don’t think it is impossible. I too have a pretty diverse listening diet, imho, comprising of indie, pop, rock, experimental stuff, punk, classical and even on occasion, pop and country. But despite that, I can still definitely say who my favourite band is, and yeah, there are maybe 5 or 10 bands that are of such considerable awesome that I might mistake them as my favourite band for a little while, but when I consider the subject properly it always comes back to the Flaming Lips ^_^
I wouldn’t agree, The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, are all just as good as their early stuff.
also, the nme worships syd barrett, ftr.
He was the mastermind behind all of PF’s early work. Indeed the song, Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a tribute to him.

The Rapture – Pieces of the People We Love
Flamin Groovies – Super Sneakers
Yo La Tengo – And Then Nothing Turned It’s Head Inside Out
because i was considering getting it but jesus christ the cover is even worse than the first one
Yeah they’re not much on the old graphic design. The new album is better than the first. So many catchy hooks and so much better produced. I’ve heard that the first album was produced around a single mic though, so I guess it’s no surprise that the newie is shaper.
Unearth – III – In the Eyes of Fire
Escape the Fate – Dying is Your Latest Fashion
Papa Roach – The Paramour Sessions
right, i’ll consider getting that at some point then.
thanks.
Yay!
Cos I will totally get into a certain band, album or even one song, and listen to it over and over for like, a couple of weeks.
But then I need a break and for a while I would not class that band as my favouritest band evar.
Also, I seem to judge favourite bands by live performances also. I would class bands that I have seen live as favourites, cos of the added knowledge that they also put on a great show. In this instance, Pearl Jam.
The Mars Volta ‘Amputechture’
The Mars Volta ‘Tremulant EP’

I saw Sarah Blasko at a music festival here yesterday. Her set was definitely a highlight. *swoon*

The Flaming Lips: The Fight test EP
Finally The Punk Rockers Are On Acid
Ramones: The Chrysalis Years
After listening to it a few times, I agree. How is Trout Mask Replica (if you’ve heard it)?
How much, if any of this is from before the self-titled? I hate that album and everything they’ve done since but love their prior material. I’m sort of interested by it but I have a feeling I’d end up hurling it against my wall, or putting it in the microwave or something.
The Apers’s The Apers was from 2001 so:
Numskull- Principal’s Daughter from The Apers/Retarded Split
Battledykes- I Hate Guys With Girlfriends from The Love Is A Battlefield And We Are The Stormtroopers EP

The Kings of Leon – Youth and Young Manhood
Pink Floyd – Piper at the Gates of Dawn
The Good, The Bad & The Queen – Herculean EP
And the following are gifts
Madonna – Ray of Light
Gyroscope – Are You Involved?
far more experimental – most of the songs make tracks like electricity or abba zaba on safe as milk sound like top 40 singles. but it’s also awesome and well worth it.
The Smiths – Meat Is Murder
Talib Kweli – The Beautiful Struggle
Belle & Sebastian – If You’re Feeling Sinister
Peanut Butter Wolf – My Vinyl Weighs A Ton
Wire – Pink Flag
There’s nothing like cleaning your closet out to find a couple 20 dollar bills all wrinkled up in the corner, but living walking distance to a local record shop makes me broke.
<3
also: I just can’t get into the Smiths. I listened to The Queen is Dead over and over, and I just don’t get it. =\

Although you should preview some songs: http://www.last.fm/music/Sufjan+Stevens?q=sufjan+stevens
ys the last thing i buy lulo
that was my 224th original CD.
I’m not rich, but in Budapest, there’s a great place where you can get the newest albums for nothing. (In USD: 4-10 USD, and 750-2000 in HuF).
So, I think that’s way is cheaper, if I download the full album with 5kb/s. ๐
It looks like a book has some funny Q and A style mail excerpts in the middle. It is pretty darn cool looking and the other stuff in it is kind of neat. I think there is a second disk as well but I forgot what was on it.
The Clash- The Clash (U.K Re-visited version)
Rancid- …And Out Come The Wolves
Stiff little Fingers- Wasted Life-Live
NOFX- Punk In Drublic
i have the one in the cardboard book-like sleeve but i wasn’t aware there was a bonus disc on any release?_?
Ramones- Leave Home [Expanded Version]
but grah, so much good music to listen to and yet there are still bazillions more albums I wish to purchase.
!
I have been around. I just don’t post very often. =\
also: I want to take this oppurtunity to once again remind those of you who haven’t to listen to Frank Zappa. I realize 98% of those that do will probably find him repulsive and confusing, but I know there are two or three of you out there that will appreciate it. And that’s my civic duty for the day.
SO yeah. I still totally love Peaches En Regalia and my Zappa love grows by the day.
In conclusion: EVERYONE LISTEN TO ZAPPA. KUBI IS RIGHT ZAPPA IS GOOOOD STUFF.

Lou Reed – New York

The Blood Brothers – Young Machetes
m???m – The Peel Session
!!! – Louden Up Now
Yeah I don’t really know all the differences or anything, but mine came with a some live bbc sessions or something.
– Love in the Time of Science
– Fisherman’s Woman
I don’t think they’re sisters, but then again, I’m not sure, ’cause their voices ARE really alike,
Torrini was able to sing Gollum’s Song, the end theme of Peter Jackson’s film The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers when fellow Icelander Bj???rk backed out due to pregnancy.
!_! That I did not know.
D:
Aw man :swoon:
I’ve really been getting in to these guys recently, I’m listening to Laser Life now
I recently bought both of Emiliana Torrini’s CDs. Is she Bj???rk’s sister? They sound exactly the same.
– Love in the Time of Science
– Fisherman’s Woman
Holy crap you bought something that wasn’t by Grace Jones?!
that is pretty rad!
D:
it’s a good album. lou reed writes – and has always written – good lyrics regardless of anything else. the music is ace too.
but yeah, he does write good stuff.
Tristania – Beyond the Veil
Moonspell – The Antidote
Wasn’t sure about the Theatre des Vampires one, hadn’t heard that in about 5 years, but when I seen it I couldn’t resist. It turned out to be not so good.
but yeah, he does write good stuff.
man you don’t need to tell me he’s a prat, i’m a velvet underground fan
is what I bought today
Also, Bryan pretence never hurt anyone! Although I hate it when it is used in a hypocritical sense i.e Radiohead fans calling the Mars Volta pretentious. I frown at that so good.
i suppose so. it doesnt affect Lou Reed’s talent anyway. who really cares if he’s a prick when he can write songs as good as he has i guess. D:
Sigur Ros – Takks
<3
ordered it from amazon on monday, came today. it’s superb.
I’m going to see them perform in a couple of weeks.
I’ll definetely tell you how the show was~~
^_______^

Adventure and Wildcat! are two of may favorite songs ever.
Did you find that there were actually hooks on this album? Not that it wasn’t an unbelievable album, but I was just find that there melody enough to actually hum along with.

It’s 2 hours of bliss, happiness, freedom.
It’s 2 hours of bliss, happiness, freedom.
;___;;;;
Can’t afford it yet, I’m broke.
Indeed, it was, well, a bit shocking, since the contrast between the recorded versions and live versions is really high. But it doesn’t bother me, that much, fortunately. ^_^
Got my hands on Madonna’s Confessions Tour CD/DVD
It’s 2 hours of bliss, happiness, freedom.
Haha, ๐ here they gonna show the best moments from the Confessions Tour on tv later this day. ^^; And wowie, the short clips in the commercial look quite magnificent already!
Trent get back to me after you watch it ya hear? Hopefully they’ll show Let It Will Be cuz she dances her clit off in that one

It has an extra disc of songs that I have yet to give a spin
nice work getting the Confessions Tour
And yes Tidus TDAGARIM is somethin special
also today I bought Beck’s Guero
It’s awesome, he’s got a more "bluesy" feel to his songs now.
WC- the shaiest one
both pretty good as well
also today I bought Beck’s Guero
I see, will have to check that out
BTW,
Guero is pretty neat, hope you dig it.
its old but i just never bought it.
It’s pretty loud and fast, I like it quite a bit.
the mars volta – frances the mute
its old but i just never bought it.
hawthorne heights!, can you actually spell the band names?
the mars volta – frances the mute
wtf ashin!
WC And The Maad Circle- Kerb Servin’
Dream Theater – Once In A Livetime
DIABLOS, I tried really hard to get into Faith No More but I just couldn’t ;;;;__;;;;
it is great stuff
The Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
it is stunning!
Organization – Tone Float
65daysofstatic – The Fall of Math
Various Artists- Punk-O-Rama Vol. 6
For the 10 € they costed, it’s pretty good
The Flaming Lips – Due To High Expectations…
I am not sure as to whether it is better or not than Funeral
but neon bible is great nonetheless
what did i do
I’ve been wanting to get this for a while now but I have heard good professional reviews yet bad word of mouth for it. The special ed. is the same price at JB at the moment than the price most stores have the standard version so I’m thinking of getting it this week if I don’t run out of dosh.
Thoughts Loui (apart from pretty damn good)?
Emilie Simon – Vegetal
Gossip – Standing in the Way of Control
Low – Drums and Guns
Pop Levi – The Return to Form Black Magick Party
~
that is a very good album
You don’t know whether to fuck it or fight it!
;D
My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade
Underoath – Define The Great Line
Ride – Going Blank Again
Willy Mason’s If The Ocean Gets Rough
Just watch me melt~
Dang, I should really go check out for some more Modest Mouse .__. I only know a couple of songs, which I already love, so I wonder why I haven’t bought an album before..
Now, which Modest Mouse album should I go check out? :O
both
;D
Oh, she would kick my wee butt. She would!
Now, which Modest Mouse album should I go check out? :O
Many people say either Lonesome Crowded West or The Moon and Antarctica are the best albums. I like Moon, most of the other people I know like West. I would probably start with one of those, but it’s totally up to you.
My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade
Underoath – Define The Great Line
D:
Now, which Modest Mouse album should I go check out? :O
moon and antarctica
or, you know, go against the indie hipster crowd and get Good News For People Who Love Bad News. it’s pretty ace (although apparently it’s the record on which they "sold out", because float on got pretty popular. go figure) but not really representative of the rest of their stuff.
The new record is pretty spiffy.
So, IF the rest of the songs on the album Good News For People Who Love Bad News is as good or even better than Float on, I think I might go for that one (or download a couple of songs first or something~).
The Dilinger Escape Plan – Calculating Infinity
Porcupine Tree – Signify
Death Cab for Cutie – Plans
Maximo Park – Our Earthly Pleasures
Has some really cool moments but I like the newer one more, do you have it?
Tenacious D-Tenacious D
Jim Gaffigan-Doing My Time
The Beatles-Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
my friend played a song from it the other day in class on her myspace and I liked it and I have heard overwhelming praise from everyone else and I had a bit of spare money so today I picked up;
Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
It’s in a nifty clamshell box with these two flip books which are kinda cool. I haven’t given the album a spin yet cuz just got home but I will after dinner whilst doing my image and text assignment so that should make it enjoyable no doubt!
anyway my recent CD purchases were:
Iron maiden: A Death on the road
Guns n roses greatest hits
neon bible is pretty stunning but if you haven’t heard anything by them get funeral first, it’s the better album
other dude: arcade fire are nominally an indie rock band but they are kind of hard to pin down stylistically.
Both of them are pretty ace, truth be told.
bottoms of barrels (or sth) by tilly & the wall
post reformation tlc by the fall
i read the back of the new arcade fire, why did they redo a song from the EP?_? (no cars go). i dont think i am going to bother with neon bible, really, though. i mean, they are a pretty good band, but they have so many hardcore fans! its pretty tangential to the music, i know, but it’s like i thought funeral was a pretty good album with a fair few good songs on it, but nothing i would listen to that often, whereas it’s like it changed their lives with all these… MAD FANS. it’s sort of off-putting. or something. like i don’t really get it. anyways, i wouldnt pay more than €10 for an album of theirs considering, but maybe i would end up really liking neon bible, so possibly i should give it a go. who knows. =(
i want to get that cd by i’m from barcelona and i downloaded the best of orchestral manoeuvres in the dark, which is really ace! would like to buy but there is no omd anywhere here so, whatcanyoudo =(
god knows why they redid it it sounds pretty much identical
but dude! you need neon bible.
Mastodon – Blood Mountain <– I’m not a big metal guy, but I picked this up after reading great things. The vocals don’t do much for me, but the music is top-notch. also: impressive drummer.
A Static Lullaby- A Static Lullaby
Cute Is What We Aim For- Same Old Blood Bath With A New Touch
Motion City Sound Track- Commit This To Memory
I also purchased that New Radicals album "Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too" and it’s bloody awesome. I got it for ???3 and it’s the biggest bargain.
On top of that I missed out Chumbawamba – Tubthumper, which is pop legend.

Unia by Sonata Arctica
Yes, all in one day.
๐ Oh yes, it’s quite a terrific album, thing is, I’m a really big Nick Cave fan, and Grinderman is simply the edgier music Nick Cave has to offer! Some of the other songs remind me a bit of Iggy Pop’s rawness, which I find excellent. ^_^
The Good, The Bad & The Queen- S/T
Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
This is an awesome album imo
oh excellent, i’ll pick this up
i was considering it you see
also, ryth, that is a fucking immense list

Funny story; went to the store today looking for the VS soundtrack and found it there for $15. Then I saw box set with that CD plus Moon Safari for $20 so I decided on that instead. Took it to the counter and it scans for $5! This is a bargain to end all bargains
Bad Religion- Generator
Various Artists- Punk-O-Rama vol 9
The Clash- Supermarket Clash
Air – The Virgin Suicides Soundtrack

Same way I bought the box set including 10,000 Hz Legend + Everybody Hertz. ^_^ Very good stuff.
My Morning Jacket – Z
smashing pumpkins-rotten apples
Is the new NIN album any good because i haven’t heard much about it?
the fragile>the downward spiral>year zero>pretty hate hate machine
Nine Inch Nails- Year Zero (One of the albums of the year, in my estimation.)
Manowar- Gods of War (PERFECT for the moods when you want extremely cheesy Battle Metal.)
Chthonic- Seediq Bale (Have yet to listen to it, but I have heard two tracks from the album, from previous exposure, and have high hopes for the album.)
Not his thing, so he gave it to me. I have to say, it’s quite good!

Copyrights- Make Sound
Unlovables- Heartsickle
Riverdales- Storm The Streets
Mogwai- Mr. Beast
Brand New- The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me
Brand New- Deja Entendu
Flaming Lips- 20 Years Of Weird
Not his thing, so he gave it to me. I have to say, it’s quite good!
Its different to Funeral but its a brillant album
I <3 No cars Go ๐
it’s a great song but it does seem a little out of place
Kelly Clarkson – breakaway
Evanescence – The open door
Dogs arrived and it is awesome.
As is Gold by Ryan Adams.
The Hold Steady–Boys and Girls in America. After hearing Girls Like Status on the ATHF:MFfT:The Soundtrack, I had to bite. Everytime I listen to that, it’s like ‘who put in a real album?’ considering it’s sandwhiched between I Want Candy and Nude Love (Reprise).
too right it is!
Today I picked up Grace Jones’ Nightclubbing
NoFX- Wolves In Wolves Clothing
Big D and The Kids Table- Strictly Rude
Black Flag- In My Head
The Exploited- Punks Not Dead
Bad Religion- Suffer
The Clash- The Essential Clash
T.S.O.L- Dance With Me
The Bouncing Souls- How I’ve Spent My Summer Vacation
I would check out their first two albums, they are little better in imo. I espically like Seperation Sunday (although you do get more out of them if you are from the twin cities area due to all the local references).
Nirvana- Pennyroyal Tea Single 7" (A rare and high-priced single)
Death Cab ForCutie- Plans
The Dickies- The Incredible Shrinking Dickies Re-issue

They sound like a really crap boy band ;-;
Agreein’
Daniel Johns is the biggest fucking girl in the world
Everyone here seems to think Silverchair are still a good thing or something
I’m having a hard time remembering if they ever were ?_?
New Bjork album isn’t bad either.
Daniel Johns is the biggest fucking girl in the world

I’m having a hard time remembering if they ever were ?_?
Their early stuff was grunge-like, but a bit angsty. PURE MASSACRE and GROWING UP, ITS LIKE A CIVIL WAR! etc etc.
Still, better than the toilet that followed Neon Ballroom.
Nodes Of Ranvier – s/t
The Rakes – Ten New Messages
Bradley Hathaway – All The Hits So Far But Don’t Expect Too Much
The Amity Affliction – High Hopes
Greatest band name ever? For a psych geek, very possibly :p
The Stooges – The Stooges
John Cale – Fragments Of A Rainy Season
Is it any good?
Also, i just got into them and i’m thinking of buying Good News For People Who Love Bad News, any other good records by them to start?
David Bowie – Best of Bowie
Also, i just got into them and i’m thinking of buying Good News For People Who Love Bad News, any other good records by them to start?
it doesn’t sound too much like modest mouse but it is a very good album
good news is an excellent album as well, in fact most of their recorded output is well worth buying. particularly i recommend lonesome crowded west as a record you’ll never tire of.
Brand New – Your Favourite Weapon
The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
At least not all Aussie musical talent has left the building;
Dappled Cities Fly – Granddance
Macromantics – Moments in Movement
Brand New – Your Favourite Weapon
The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
You rock! YFW is so whiney and bitchy, but kicks ass at doing so, Seventy Times 7, Jude Law And A Semestre Abroad, and Mix Tape have some pretty neat tongue in cheek lyrics.
Also Flaming Lips <3
Amazing album. Probably my favorite so far this year. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. The layers of sound are so lush and real, and the vocal harmonies are magic. While the musical arrangements aren’t too complex, they shouldn’t be. They work to help move the vocals along, sometimes in shift from one mood/feeling to another — like on Good Girl/Carrots.
Air – Moon Safari
Air – The Virgin Suicides Soundtrack
Funny story; went to the store today looking for the VS soundtrack and found it there for $15. Then I saw box set with that CD plus Moon Safari for $20 so I decided on that instead. Took it to the counter and it scans for $5! This is a bargain to end all bargains
Heh, I wish I could find deals like that around here. I haven’t heard VSS but Moon Safari has some great stuff on it.
Also Flaming Lips <3
Yeah it’s pretty simple compared to how they are these days but it’s rather enjoyable. Mix Tape was my personal favourite but I’ve only listened to it once so far.
Heh, I wish I could find deals like that around here. I haven’t heard VSS but Moon Safari has some great stuff on it.
I am Queen of all bargains

Slain of Myself – Memories Linger, Love Remains
August Burns Red – Messengers
Killwhitneydead – Hell to Pay
Killwhitneydead – Nothing Less, Nothing More
Cancer Bats – Birthing the Giant
Modern Life is War – My Love. My Way.
The new August Burns Red sounds like a slower version of Thrill Seeker. Bit let down.
Slain of Myself, even though I’m about 2 years behind their breakup, is still probably the best aussie hardcore ever to be recorded.
The KWD records are pretty much what you’d expect, awesome samples, dirty vocals.
horrific!
the last cd i bought was the best of parliament i think
I haven’t listened to it yet, I’m gonna wait until the drive back home tomorrow because I have an exam in the morning so it’ll be a sort of reward or pot of gold for doing that cunting exam!
I also got Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine and Marilyn Manson’s Antichrist Superstar a few weeks back and forgot to inform this thread!!!
horrific!
the last cd i bought was the best of parliament i think
I beg to differ
Not as good as The Last In Line or Holy Diver but a few songs on it are great. Not as good as Dream Evil neither. ROnnie James Dio’s voice and Vivian Campbell’s guitar work is brilliant along with Vinnie Appice’s thunderous drumming. Jimmy Bain’s Bass work seems to be plain on this album.
all in all, great but not as good as it’s predecessors nor it’s successor album. But not bad either.

If you were referring to my post, then hell yes I did. I’m trying to gather up and buy the whole Dire Straits discography, but they seem to be a bit too old for the hip, young and mainstream record stores we have around here =/
It’s a concept album which depicts the travels of the narrator, while he’s in his fictional, state-of-the-art car, Kamakiri.
I’ve read many reviews stating that it’s not Fagen’s best effort, most of which could be summed up in one word: okay; mediocrity was a given. However, the theme was interesting enough, and along with being a Steely Dan fan, the record eventually found its way into my collection.
Here’s only one relation of some:
Simon and Garfunkel – Parsley, Sage, Rosemery and Thyme (1967)
The Mothers of Invention with Frank Zappa – Freak Out (1966)

More eclectic, diverse ๐
For me, Futures is a rather dark and cathartic record. If Futures is about the immediate end of a relationship, then Chase This Light is like a couple years down the road. It’s exactly the change I needed, given that that pretty much parallels my own experiences.
I think you should pick it up, if you want my outright opinion.

For me Chasing The Light brings older elemnts and some of the best songs since Clarity, i didn’t like Futures or Bleed American and only seem to enjoy Clarity which is a sonic trip and J.E.W’s best effort as well as the highest standard for the band, Chasing The light is a solid record but not the most ambitious or most impressive, it’s the most logical step in their career,
Also, Gotta Be Somebody’s Blues is one of the most catchy songs of the year
Futures was one of those albums that came into my possession at exactly the right time. I got it on my 23rd birthday, which was 2 days after my college graduation. Yeah, perfection ๐

I’m glad that you liked what you heard, Sobye ๐
I have to say that In Defense of the Genre is so beautifully whacked out and sprawling that it may be my album of the year. I’m dead serious.

It features songs taken from the album "Dirk Wears White Sox" and was released to cash in on the Ants later fame by Do It Records when they were riding high after the release of "Kings of the Wild Frontier" on a different label, so it’s not a bootleg as such but not sanctioned by the band either. Noteable because the image on the front is taken from the Kings tour and yet the Ant line up and look of the album which the songs were taken from was different……. not that anyone cares
4 out of 5
Frank Zappa – The Yellow Shark (Performed by the Ensemble Modern) As always, if you aren’t listening to Frank Zappa, you aren’t getting the most out of music. Sorry, but you aren’t.
Animal Collective – MPP This is what the Beach Boys would sound like if they were a drug addled indie group.
Mastodon – Crack the Skye This is the kind of music that could slay dinosaurs. Real ones.
Gallows – Grey Britain (Soon as I heard their tracks on Myspace I went out and bought dis)
High Contrast – High Contrast Confidential (Always been a High Contrast fan so this was a no-brainer decision)
Before that I bought the first five Metallica albums.
Planning to get Mastodon’s latest one depending on how it sounds.
Blood Mountain was ok but I preferred Leviathan, so I’m hoping its better than Blood Mountain.
Directly from the man himself at his most recent show (which was amazing). Everything about his music is just unbelievable, from the songs themselves to the album art to the surreal poetry he included in the liner notes to the track titles. It was eight bucks up front, but since I only had a tenner on me I gave it to him and told him to keep the change. He was so thrilled about this, it was as if it made his whole day, but little did he know what impact it’d have on me, as this album made my whole fucking month.
Also bought the Jackson United album but haven’t listened to it yet.
whitesnake – good to be bad
megadeth – cryptic writings [remastered edition]
ac/dc black ice
ian gillan band – scarabus
ac/dc – fly on the wall
weird al yankovic – alapalooza
deep purple – the book of talesyin
i can’t remember the rest lol, iit was my birthday recently and i got a ton of stuff before hand
This is Thrash (3CD compilation of thrash choons)
Though why Chimaira and Biohazard are on there is beyond me seeing as Chimaira are metalcore/groove and the Biohazard choon on there is a rapcore one.
Arc Arclight
YES – Like It Is Live – At Meza Arts Center
Blind Guardian – Beyond the Red Mirror
Bosse-de-Nage – All Fours
Ghost Bath – Moon Lover
Liturgy – The Ark Work
Sumac – The Deal
I recommend all of them really.

I bought that when it came out in…1982? (showing my age here). Good to see a fellow Ant fan here. I’m going to see the great man in concert at the end of May. Can’t wait!
Latest purchase was Nosferatu by Popol Vuh.
