I Can not remember what happens in the scene where you release Lucreia is alive, and that Sepiroth is VIncent’s son.

Can someone please describe what happens in that scene in detail.

ok ill explain it, but this is the last time: at the begining of the scene cloud, vincent, and the party enter lucrecia’s cave and find sephiroth about to freeze her in carbonite forever. enraged by this vincent grabs cloud’s sword and begins a long, vicious fight with sephiroth while in the background tifa and yuffie are seen grinding with each other and cid and barett do the robot. the fight eventually leads outside and sephiroth cuts off vincents hand and knocks him off the side of the cliff. vincent grabs a random tree limb that always seems to appear in these situations with his only remaining hand. it is at this time sephiroth tells vincent he is his father before the limb breaks and he falls to his death. or so it appears. vinnie is actually caught by red who for some reason is now able to fly. after being dropped off vincent uses laguna’s desperato limit break. only he uses a rocket launcher instead of a machine gun. sephiroth somehow escapes, the cave is destroyed, and the party continues on thier quest. the end

I don’t know, but for certain people these days need to play the game before making such assumptions. I know for fact vincent was the father, but I look online, such as google and it says hojo. Damn people these days are braindead and need to see the facts. Or perhaps the American version was altered and compare to the real japanese version. I went thier on Disc 2 and spoke to Lucreia trying to get the Vincent’s Limit break. It did not get it, becuase you have to get it on the third.

– Waterfall Cave –

(At some point before the Midgar raid, Cloud (with Vincent in his party)
takes the submarine down through an underwater cave, reaching an enclosed
lake with a waterfall filling it. He finds a hidden cave behind the
waterfall. Inside, the cave floor is shiny blue stone, the walls angular,
the room a perfect circle- obviously manmade. As he enters, he hears a
voice.)

Vincent…

(Vincent runs forward.)

Vincent
"That voice? It can’t be…"

(He takes a few steps forward. As the camera follows him, we see a soft
white light at the other side of the cave. There is the form of a woman
kneeling inside it.)

"Lucrecia…?"

(The woman stands and turns to Vincent.)

arm in arm. The scene fades to the front gate. Vincent is handing a small
item to Lucrecia, most likely a wedding ring. Lucrecia stares at it, then
shakes her head, starts to cry, and runs off. Vincent can only stand and
watch her go. The scene fades a moment, then we see Hojo and Lucrecia at
the gate, kissing, oblivious to the world. Vincent arrives, stares
blankly a moment, then turns in disgust and leaves. The screen fades to

moment, then Vincent is unconscious on the operating table in the lab.
Hojo stands over him, working some experiment. The scene fades a moment
and then Hojo is gone, Vincent alone on the table. He comes to, swings
his legs over the side and stands. He looks blankly at his left hand,
then raises both fists skyward, trembling. The screen fades to black.)

So we can see clearly that they never disscussed "their" child. But we can see that Vincent opposed the test on humans for which he obviously paid the price.

Vincent is just a loner when it comes to Lucrecia because she left him for Hojo and Hojo got Lucrecia knocked up then infused Sephiroth with Jenova cells. Hojo is teh daddy of Sephiroth.

Hojo is the father…no doubt about it. If you believe it is Vincent…then you should play FF7 again.

right guys this is my first thread and im gonna make it count, and this thread appears to be the right one to do it in. there does seem to be alot of confusion about Seph, Vincent and Lucriea (forgive if ive spelt her wrong).

right, when Cloud and the gang first meet Vincent in the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim, Vincent asks the group to explain how they know Sephiroth, after giving him their story, Vincent demands they leave as they have added to his nightmares. Cloud then bugs the poor man twice and he eventually raises out of his coffin and gives his story, claiming that Jenova is not Sephiroth’s mother, much to Cloud’s suprise, he is informed that Lucriea is the birth mother of Seph, but yet doesnt say who the father is. Vincent is full of guilt for allowing the woman he loved to take part in the Jenova Project in which Professor Gast was the soul leader. On disc 2, when Hojo goes completly insane at the Sister Ray (the Junor Cannon) at Midgar, he tries to give more power to the cannon, thsu creating the threat of overloading and explosion. as Cloud and the group confront Hojo, they ask him what he thinks he’s doing, he says that he must give his Son more power. if Vincent is in your party, you will see how agitated he is at the sight of Hojo, thus becoming more agitated when he tells them he is Sephiroth’s father. now this explains why Vincent wants to join you, if you remember his words are something along the lines of:

Vincent – Will we encounter Hojo?

Cloud – We’re going after Shinra, so we’re bound to meet him along the way

then once this is said, Vincent turns around, throws his cape out of his face and clenches a fist, thus indicating the fact that he knows something about Hojo and Sephiroth that we dont’ only to be revealed when we encounter Hojo at the Sister Ray.

Now, the Hidden Cave incidents aren’t really any indication of Sephiroth’s father, only his mother.
With Vincent in your party and you go to the cave which in your inventory is called simply "????" you will encounter a woman who Vincent recognizes to be the woman he loved dearly yet failed to tell her; Lucriea. Lucriea informs the Vincent that her soul couldn’t return to the planet without knowing if her son lives. Vincent does the honorable thing and lies to her, he tells her that Sephiroth is dead, as the truth about him would crush her spirit. Once hearing this, Lucriea returns to the planet to finally rest in peace.

Now i hope that has cleared this subject up for you all.

How did that happened when sephy became hojo’s son?

I don’t think that Lucriea ever loved hojo and made her own child (sephy) with hojo because hojo was fugly =x.

FFVII SPOILERS AHEAD

Correct me if I’m wrong, but exactly where in the game does it say that Lucrecia had died? When you speak to her in the cave, she says that she wants to die, but ‘the Jenova in her won’t let her die’.

Other people may interpret that to mean that she is indeed dead, but can’t return to the Planet, however, how I understood it, that the guilt and pain she was feeling, especially the maternal instincts she still felt towards Sephiroth, made her feel worthless, that her life no longer had any reason for existence, and so she wanted to end it. But the Jenova cells within her confered a kind of imortality upon her, thus preventing her from taking her own life.

Hence the reason why she was in the cave. With nowhere else to go, she must have drifted there, tormented by the feelings for her child and the guilt of believing the lies that Hojo and Gast had told to her.

And Vincent technically didn’t lie to her – Sephiroth really is dead, from a certain point of view – Cloud killed him when he threw him into the bowels of the Nibelheim Mako Reactor during the Nibelheim Incident. His body was dead – eventually becoming incased in materia in the Northern Crater after all.

But his spirit remained corporeal and wandered the Lifestream, taking in the knowledge of everything that had come before, his strong will eventually allowing him to return to the material plane in corporeal form. It was this that you spent much of the game chasing after.

But that is just my interpretation.

Pretty nice analysis, I think, even thought my interpretation is different.

Point being, Sephiroth is Hojo’s son.
