The Official Final Fantasy IX Rumble!!

:THE FFIX RUMBLE:

First off, here are the simple yet important rules. Most of you are familiar with them already but here goes…

1) You can only vote once per "match"
2) I can vote
3) Please, NO SPAM. You`ll just make me angry and you wouldn`t like me when im angry. 🙂
4) As a sidenote, every 3 to 4 days i`ll end a fight, pick the winner and start the next.

Ok. First off in the rumble is characters. Although, this is a rumble of "the good guys". To add more depth i`ve added some NPCs that fit in this catagory. In this first rumble there will be 16 contestants, and one by one they must go up against eachother in which you vote who you want to win. The character with the most votes advances to the next round.

That’s the name Princess Garnet chooses for herself when she travels with Zidane and his ragtag bunch. Born to the name Sara in the summoner village of Madain Sari (and born with a horn), Garnet escaped the horror which destroyed Madain Sari (by Garland’s Invincible) and floated to Alexandria in a boat.

He starts off life as a security guard for Treno’s auction house, but a chance encounter with Zidane of Tantalus changes his whole ideal. He searches Zidane out, only from curiosity, looking for the thing which so fascinated him, something he just couldn’t understand.

A powerful and noble knight, the head of the female Alexandrian troops. She works for Queen Brahne without compunctions, disdaining the weakness of her enemies, until Kuja’s works begin to really show themselves and she begins to have doubts.

yeah but you’ve gotta take all that with a grain of salt. If Beatrix was given the same amount of game time that amarant had she’d rip shit all over him. You can say ‘that may be, but she doesnt, so amarant is better’ but dont compare them in terms of abilities and skills since theyre hardly going to give you a level 99 beatrix with every skill.

Shes on her way down to lance Zidane. Zidane (being a theif) sees her YEARS before she hits him and easily dodges the attack. STEALs her lance and hits her on the head with it. Match over…

Alexandria
Alexandria, the opening city to FFIX. Upon seeing Alexandria for the first time it gave the player an idea of what to expect that was visualy different from the previous two FF games. With the combination of beautifully painted backdrops and a truly lovable soundtrack, Square Enix couldn`t of starting the game at a better and more welcoming location.

Treno
Treno, the city that never sleeps. Treno had numerous interesting places including a card tournament, monsters to battle, an auction house and Queen Stella’s house. And the sleepy yet relaxing mood and atmosphere of Treno is litreally oozing out of every nook and cranny in it`s impressive design.

I`m a little dissapointed about the turnout but all we can do is go ahead with the next round. Because, i`m aware FFIX doesn`t get the attention it deserves but as long as more than two people vote, this rumble is still going ahead.

ROUND 2A

Black Mage Village
This unexpected village was truly a joy to just be in. With an excellent soundtrack and a town full of loveable Mages, The Black Mage Village was a very unique and enjoyable place to go if you wanted to get away from those big city blues.

Qu’s Marsh
With four marshes situated around the globe, this was a place to go to fight critters and engage in a old game of catching frogs that was, to be honest, an enquired taste. :/

I wouldn`t exactly say it`s pointless. TBMV may get more votes but at least the Qu`s Marsh fans make their voice heard i suppose.

Instead im going to give a theme rumble a shot.

I have 32 themes lined up but im gonna keep you in suspense as to which are involved and you will find out as I update the rumble.

First up is

RunThis theme is played after defeating the snake like creatures on the Gargan and Fossil Roo when you have got back in to the gargant and he begins to run off due to being chased by the Snake. It is quite a fast paced piece of music.

Vamo Alla FlamencoThis is the theme played during Black and Zidanes "sword fight" which is done merely to impress Brahne and gain you some gill or an item. As the name suggests it has quite a spanish feel to it. But a catchy number none the less.

Fairy Battle-This is the theme you get played to you. When you encounter good monsters such as Ragtime mouse, Friendly Nymph and Friendly Yan. It is a pretty song which shows theme monsters pose no threat:)

Eternal Harvest- This is Where Freay takes her shot at becoming the next Michael Flatley. A very upbeat number. It does kinda sound like an irish Jig. But a song that is hard to hate none the less. Although just after they finish Dancing to this. Clerya does like dissapear:(

My vote goes for Eternal Harvest Simply because everytime I see Freya Shaking her thang. I kill myself with laughter.

Just for the nature of those battles. Immense.

Jesters of the moon- The idiotic twosome with backwards speaks theme. Yes thats right Kiddies its Zorn and Thorns turn to have a shot at winning. This Jestery type theme plays whenever you glimpse Zorn and Thorn around during the game.

Slew of lover letters- As the name suggests this is the theme which plays during which you see Eiko waiting for Zidane to come along because of her love letter. But Blank and Marcus turn up. Then the three of them go in to hiding as both Stenier and Beatrix appear and Almost proclaim thier love for each other but are stopped by Baku.

Jesters of the moon Will get my vote, I just prefer the tune its somewhat more upbeat and reminds me to shut off my brain as Zorn and Thron are appearing.

I liked Slew of Love Letters. Catchy beat.

Oh and i’d like to add that Eternal Harvest is one of the most underrated songs in FFIX, i love it!

Ambush attack- This powerful piece is played when you see the Alexandrians attack Clerya and you are trying to save the people. Its also played when you are trying to escape Alexandria and have control of Beatrix.

Border village (Dali)- This slow theme is played when you reach Dali. It is a theme which gives you a feeling of homeliness and warmth. Hiding the true side of Dali quite well.

My vote is easily for Ambush attack One of my favorite pieces in the game.

Ok its a tie. So after a coin toss Ambush attack Wins the round.

Next up

Qu’s Marsh Doesnt really need much explaining but I shall anyways. Its the theme played when you enter a Qu’s Marsh and also the theme you here when you get the "Teach me Mogster" things as well.

Crossing those hills This is the world map theme. This gets played everytime you go on to the world map. Its is a light hearted melody and is quite relaxing.

My vote goes to Qu’s Marsh as crossing those hills was WAY to repatative for my liking.

Battle Theme- The most important theme of any Final Fantasy game really. The theme played everytime you enter a normal battle. It is quite an upbeat one as always and probably my favorite battle theme.

Vivis ThemeThis theme really needs no explanation and I wont make an effort to right one. Its the Theme which plays for Vivi and is first heard in Alexandria right at the start I believe.

My votes gotta be the Battle theme No question about it.

Lindblum This is the theme payed in the city of Lindblum. Its is quite a clunky piece really and is not something you would expect for such a big town.

My vote easily goes to Mystery Sword No question about it.

I loved the theme

Without a doubt, much as i liked both themes, I enjoyed listening to that one better.

Ok so as expected Beatrixs theme Kicks ass there.

Next up

Song of Memory- This is probably Garnets theme. It is heard in Lindblum When Zidane can not find Garnet. She is up on the roof singing it. The only words in it are "la la la la la" but it is a very moving piece all the same.

Boss Battle theme- This is the obviously as the name states the theme that is played when you encounter a boss such as, Gizamaluke and the Black Waltz. Its is quite a fast paced theme which is appropriate for Boss battles.

OK my vote goes for Song of Memory It is quite an emotional piece and I enjoy listening to it.

Song of Memory was so wrong in so many ways and just didnt fit
think thats the only scene/song i’d love to cut out of the game

Black Waltz’s Theme The theme played when you encounter any of the 3 black waltz enemies. sent by Branhe to rescue Garnet right after she leaves Alexandria

Extraction- Another Theme which involves Zorn and Thorn. This is the theme played when they extract the Eidilons from Garnet and attempt to extract them from Eiko as well.

A hard one for me but I think That Black Waltz theme is just a bit better imo.

So even though it had some support Extraction completly obliterates the Black Waltz theme.

Next up

Quinas Theme- Not really an explaination needed here. Its pretty self explainitory.

Clerya Settlement- This is the theme played when you actually reach the village of Clerya itself not when you climb up the trunk to get there. Its quite a nice relaxing theme which would be expected when you first see Clerya.

My vote goes to Quinas Theme As I like him/her and he/she has quite a cool Theme.

Clerya Settlement-1

So Clerya settlement gets Smashed out the tournament in a massive way by Quinas theme.

Next up

Kujas Theme- The Big bad guys theme. PLayed when ever Kuja has something to do with wherever you are in the game. Not the most Sinister of themes. But then Again Kuja wears a thong so its understandable.

Eikos Theme This annoying little brats theme. Its is as you’d imagine chirpy and upbeat.

Eikos Theme gets it for me. As Kujas was a major let down

That was a clolse battle and was quite backwards and forwards for a while there. But Kuja Manages to get the win by just a couple of votes.

Next up

Airship Hildegarde- This theme plays when you Finally Get given an airship. The rather large and rather ugly hildegarde. But I guess its an airship

Kingdom of Burmecia As expected for a land of eternal rain which has been destroyed. The music for it is pretty mellow and somewhat chilling but it is very appropriate for the town its played in.

I think the Burmecia Theme has more replay value and for that value alone it gets my vote.

I`ll go for Kingdom of Burmecia seeing that, in my opinion, it`s the best FF track as of yet. 🙂

Easy win for KOB there, and it moves on to round two.

Next battle:

Iifa Tree: The theme played at the Iifa tree, obviously. It is quite sinister and sets the tone for this mysterious place very well.

vs

Tantalus theme: This is a rather catchy and somewhat cheesy tune. I like it though, it has an air of warmth to it.

My votes goes, to the Tantalus theme, although I like Iifa Tree too.

A fairly resounding win there, and Tantalus Theme romps onto Round 2.

Next battle:

Crystal World: Played as you make your way along the crystal, to confront Trance Kuja, this tune is a fitting choice. It is tense, dramatic and somewhat surreal.

vs

Terra: The tune played when you arrive on Terra, this is also an excellent choice. It really enhances the feeling that you are on another world.

Fight!

My vote goes to Terra as it is for me, one of the best pieces in the entire game.

A good number of votes, and a total demolition, as expected. Terra romps onto the next round.

Next battle:

You’re Not Alone: Only played once in the entire game(after Zidane meets Garland on the Pandemonium), it is a truly stunning tune.

Steiner’s Theme: A rather comical theme, but an enjoyable one nonetheless, it is to be heard a number of times through the game.

Fight!

I vote for You’re Not Alone, as for me Mystery Sword is the only theme better then it in the entire game.

i’l go with Steiner’s Theme tho as its used more often and never managed to bore me and simply because it has that quirky err.. i dont know whats the instrument is called(banjo?) but it plays at 01:14

I must admit, i’m amazed by that, I really didnt expect Steiner’s theme to be so popular.

Next battle:

Pandemonium: Played in the Pandemonium(obviously), this theme gets rather repetitive after a while.

Zidanes Theme: Quite a rare theme, only heard on the Cargo ship I believe, when Zidane grabs Daggers ass I believe.

Battle Theme-The most important theme of any Final Fantasy game really. The theme played everytime you enter a normal battle. It is quite an upbeat one as always and probably my favorite battle theme.

So Mystery Sword Takes the rumble. Smashing its way through all of its opponants to take the title. Thanks for all the votes. But it doesnt stop there. As the next one is getting started right now.

Weapons/Accessories Rumble Is getting under way.

The way this one is going to run is. I have 32 weapons and 16 Accessories I will run them both at the same time. So its obvious the Accessories will be finished before. But once they are both finished and we have our winners. There will be a little face off. The top 4 weapons vs the top 4 Accessories Should make it more interesting to see who is crowned Champion then.

So the first two Battles are about to start now.

In the Weapons Category first up we have

Cats Claws(Amarant) These are his intial Equip so as you can imagine are pretty weak. They allow him to learn the abilities Chakra and Counter.

Hamelin(Eiko) This flute for Eiko allows her to learn the Abilities Curaga, Might and Jewel. It is by no means one of her best flutes. But the abilities Curaga and Might can come in very handy

And in the Accessories category we have

Pearl Rouge As far as I can remember you can only make one of these in the entire game as it requires a moonstone. It can learn you some powerful Abilities though. They are Level Up, Reflect Null and Loudmouth.

Black Robe This Robe is probably the most Beneficial to Vivi but can be equiped to a few people. It comes with the Abilities Flare, MP+20% and Reflectx2

Holy Lance- Freya also enters the rumble for the first time with her Holy Lance. As you’d expect it is embued with the power of Holy and Allows Freya to learn the abilities. Reis Wind and Dragon Crest. Which is probably her most powerful attack in the game.

Rebirth Ring- A kinda of an obvious acessory really. It doesnt take a genious to figure out what it can do. But what the hell here we go. You can learn from this beauty. Auto-Life and Revive. So a useful thing for even the more expert of players.

Rosetta Ring- I personally found this an item that was not really of much use to me personally. It allows you to learn. Level up, Reflect x2 and Concentrate.

Pumice Piece Can be equipped by everyone. But is only really useful for one Person. That would be Garnet. It allows her to learn boost from a single piece. Then when you gain the full Pumice she can then learn Arc. But this is only the pumice piece which is in this battle.

Dragons Hair- Freyas ultimate spear, It allows her to learn Dragons breath It is a weapon every Freya user would go out of their way to find and use as it is her best one. Although the ability it teaches her is kinda crap.

Mace of Zeus- Another ultimate weapon. This one is for Vivi. It allows him to learn the most powerful black magic in the game Doomsday But it is as bad as Dragons breath in a way. As it massacres your own team. Unless you have shadow armour on.

Dark Gear- A useful piece of armour indeed. Allowing the wearer to learn Clear headed and Jelly The only flaw I found with this armour. Is that it cost way more then it was worth. Well in my opinion anyways.

White Robe- The ultimate robe for a white mage. More so Eiko then Dagger. As it allows her to learn the mighty magic Holy along withLoudmouth and Auto-potion

A pretty hard battle there on both parts. But my love for Freya makes me choose Dragons hair and as Holy did save my ass against a few monsters Im gonna have to go for the White Robe

I found The Ogre to be totally useful for quickly finishing random battles in that point in the game.
Also a great help for the monster tournament.

Dark Matter was almost a necessity for me in the battle against Ozma.

Blood sword would have been a great weapon if it hadn’t been so terribly underpowered, but the damage was way too low for it to really be useful.

Cleyra Falls (Odin)
Brahne summons Odin from the heavens and obliterates Cleyra with the tip of his huge lance. I don’t think they could have portayed Odin much better than they did in this FMV.

Black Waltz Attacks
Whilst escaping Dali the third Black Waltz attacks the cargo ship they are on and attacks all of the Black Mages on board. A touching scene with Vivi watching people like him being slaughtered and he feels like he is unable to do anything to help them.

(In the event of a tie I will retract my vote)

I vote for Black Waltz Attacks

It was just too badass.
