Chocobo breeding trouble

Hey guys,

I’ve been having problems with the breeding of chocobos.

I have 2 great and 2 good chocobos like described in the breeding guide.

When I try to mate them with a carob nut I get a normal yellow one every time up till now.
Am I missing something?? Do I have to feed them special greens?? DO I need something else, or do I just keep trying till I get colored ones??

Did you race them in the chocobo races to get them to class A….?

and are they opposite sex?

i’ve also got trouble…..

ride on your Chocobo to North Corel,
you can hop off and enter..
ride the blue thing into Gold Saucer,
talk to the lady in Chocobo square, and when ahe asks you which chocobo you want to race, pick your chocobo and race it…

Should be fine, my chocobos are maxed with abilities.

I fed them greens till there were no more improvements.

Those mastered All materias sure do the trick when selling. 🙂

Thing is, I did read the chocobo breeding guide, but the one on ffshrine, and there it didn’t mention that I needed to race the yellow ones as well, so hence my question.

I have some advice: I had the exact same problem, and finally I decided to give my chocobos some Mimmet Greens. After that it worked like magic. Make sure you give them each EQUAL AMOUNTS. If you give your female 2, give your male 2, and vice versa. I think for some reason no chocobo guides acknowledge this step, but actually it is very important. And, of course, race your chocobos to class A or class S.

Race to Class S, opposite sex, carob nut, and hope it ends well.
EDIT: The thing that Thunder God said isn’t correct. Just stock up on those 100gil Greens. They have served me well.

Well, I am now at the point that I have 2 black chocobos and 2 wonderfull chocobos, as 2 sexes per color. 🙂

My fastest black chocobo, after max feeding, is 145km/h with 999 stamina and the other black one is 125km/h.

Gonna get me the fastest gold chocobo I can get, gonna do breeding with that.

But about that rumor, with white chocobo going underwater to Onix weapon, I know it’s a lotta crap, since there is no onix weapon, but is there a white chocobo you can actually breed??

No. There is no other colour chocobo unless maybe Gameshark.

This chocobo shit is stupid. I did that breeding ordeal to see Knights of the Round, and that turned out to be stupid too.

These rumors are even more stupid, i recently heard someone saying you can get a wooden chocobo by steaing Yuffi’s dad’s underwear……

As it happens you can actually get an invincible chocobo but I won’t go into that, its just a glich.

Well, it’s not just getting the KOTR materia, but there is also some very nice stuff to win in the races, that ya can’t get anywhere else in the game, so….

i have both of my chocobos up to s class and full abilities but i keep getting male chocobos i cant get a female does anyone know why. and also i found bying 2 skylis greens from the choco sage and using the W-item to get 99 and feeding ur chocobo like 90 of them fills up ur chocobos abilities.

Yes the last bit is true about the sylkis greens.

So are you trying to breed two yellow chocobos and get a male green and female blue (or male blue and female green)? If so then i believe you can’t use just two chocobos. The way i did it was get a male and female good (walking) chocobo and a male and female great (jogging) chocobo and then breed a male good with a female great and then do the other two.

If you don’t wanna do that, just keep trying. Get your male one first, then leave the ranch, wait until they’re fertile again and save before going in, just in case it’s not what you desire. Also, use a carob nut 😛

Thanks for all ur help i finally got it to work by breeding my green chocobo with my great chocobo. finally it took forever.
