Finding Alexander

how do u get to where the alexander materia is hidden

Alright, this is the way i always do it. When you’re lost in the snow, keep going right until you come to a screen that has a path to the top, one on the bottom and two on the left (close together). Take the upper path on the left and go up that until you find a hot spring. Touch the hot spring and keep following the path until you get to the area where you have to use the flags to navigate through the heavy snow. Continue through to the warden’s cabin (directly north of the beginning of the heavy snow part, if you don’t get tricked by the turning screen.) and then exit the screen back into the heavy snow. From there go directly right until you hit a screen. This will look different to other screens in that there’s a cave in the bottom right of the screen. If you hit any other kind of screen, you’ve gotten messed up by the screen turning. Go into the cave and fight the woman there to get Alexander. The fight is simple.

Hope that helps…although i’m not sure if you instantly see the cave when you enter the screen on the right, or if you have to go through three screens of different snow first. Everything else is correct though.

I never even tried to get him to be honest.I didnt like that snow bit.Hes not that great either.I used him when I got master summon.

Here your welcomed to explore the town cause there are serveral free items like a HERO DRINK, VACCINE, TURBO ETHER, and an X-POTION. Now go to the back of town and the resident stops you, now Elena comes in and she’s furious about what happened to Tseng, now you are given the choice to either dodge her punch by pressing right or left and she’ll roll down Icicle Inn or you do nothing and let Elena hit you in the stomach and you faint. She even wonders why you didn’t try to dodge her punch. When you wake up you’ll be in Ifalno’s house or more likely Aeris’ mother house. You can check the equipment to learn more about Aeris’ mother and the Cetra or the called the Ancients. Now you’ll need some supplies and a map of Great Glacier if you ever hope to find your way around. First ask the kid you met earlier about the snowboard and he’ll let you borrow it. Now head for the right most house in Icicle Inn and inspect the map that is in the center of the house and take it. Now revisit the guy at the back of town who wouldn’t let you through earlier and he’ll let you through now that you have some supplies.

Well here this is very linear and very fun. When you encounter a fork in the
road it doesn’t matter which path you take because your basically going to the same place just taking a different route. This place is very complicated and will often confuse you. The only item of importance is the ALEXANDER MATERIA.The other non-important item includes a MIND SOURCE, POISON MATERIA, SAFETY BIT, ELIXIR, and an ALL MATERIA. Basically you can wait until you pass out from the cold and Mr.Holzoff will rescue you and you can rest and save at his house anytime you want. Coincidentaly his house is right in front of your destination, the Gaea Cliffs. But if you want the ALEXANDER SUMMON MATERIA, follow these instructions:

Just battle a few times and wait until you faint.
Now when you arrive at Mr.Holzoff’s house go outside.
Now return to great glacier and go right.
Just remember that the wind blows you off course so when the wind blows stop and wait until the wind dies down and continue going right.
Just make it past through the linear course until you see some cliffs.
Keep going right until you see your path stop and until you se three different
paths in front of you, take the most upper right handed path you’ll encounter another linear area just keep going. Now take the cave in the upper right hand corner and enter it. When you enter this cave make sure you have touched the Hot Springs you saw earlier or else you can’t intiate a fight.

BOSS: Snow HP: 4000 Item: ALEXANDER SUMMON MATERIA
The boss has low HP and your party should have no trouble with it whatsoever. FIRE2 or FIRE3 should make quick work of her, in fact you should only need to cast it once, most likely. Now all you can do is just wait and faint until you arrive at Mr.Holzoff’s house and continue north towards the Gaea Cliffs. Make sure to rest and save before heading on.

How is alexanded compared to other games summon of him?

I prefered him in FFVIII. His abilities were quite useful. But in FFVII he’s not really worth getting. Nothing overly special about him.

I dunno about that posted faq…i swear when you go right in the snowstorm that you go through a few screens and then get straight there.

Yeah.Hes much better in FF8.His attack looks better aswell.

I think he is best on 6. I meen it is such an advanced thing for the snes.

He was a lot more useful on ff8. His effects were quite useful and he always was pretty powerful once boosted. I made the effort to get him on ff7 used him once and never used it again. Pretty crap imo

Well, FF9’s alexander is by far the best. He kicks the living crap out of bahamut and sacrifises himself to protect Alexandria from the Invincible. Too bad you can’t use it.

I got him today. Read what Kie said, its very accurate.

I used the summon straight after I got it to check it out. It dealt 22,500 damage to 5 monsters(bout 4500 per monster), which is the strongest damage I have dealt this far into the game. (kjata and bahumut tend to hit around 3500 for me).. I linked it to added cut. Can’t complain with 4.5k damage per monster, it is not hard to get either.

Umm… you do not have either Bahamut Zero or Knights of the round when you are at the great glacier part of the game.. so you cannot use them. Alexander is the strongest summon you can use when you first get it.

Now all you can do is just wait and faint until you arrive at Mr.Holzoff’s house and continue north towards the Gaea Cliffs. Make sure to rest and save before heading on

Actually, it is easy to get back on your way, you don’t have to wait to faint. After getting Alexander, head out of the cave and north back the way you came. When you are at the outdoor area head west using the markers to keep your bearings. When you reach the cave head north. You know which way is north because the cave entrance faces south. AFter a little while heading north you will get to the area outside the shack.

Both kie and kienshin are correct. I tried it. So it should work. 🙂
