There would be no logical reason for them to build a new city. Kilika was rebuilt because it was destroyed. Also, the amount of effort and resources it would take to rebuild a city is miniscule compared to what it would take to build one from scratch.

At first, Yuna was really very noble and strong, and I grew rather fond of her. Then they put her in hot pants.. wha? And gave her tomb raider guns. Whaa??? And two smexy sidekicks- though Paine is a awesome character, she’s me personified.

Yuna still has nobility and mental strength in abudance, but this game is all about the changes in Yuna, however she retains her best traits. Yuna is wearing those hot pants and I immediantly think- Tomb Raider ripoff. The only excuse they have of making her dress in that is to attract a certain audience to her long slender legs.
Sphere changing is a good idea, but changing dresses in the middle of a battle and battling with a pet monkey in hardly final fantasy. Plus, having to watch Yuna change 5 times even in short mode so you can get to that damned whitemage dress- sphere and heal your party is hardly a bush of roses.
Where’s the good old, just have all the abilities in one place. At all times. But in order to use white magic you have to waste an equipment slot, and then you can only have two. I spent all that time mastering every technique, and now I can only use 3 types at once or I have to waste a turn changing?!
So where’s the dress-sphere battling idea now? Have they used any of the ideas in X-2 that wern’t in the other final fantasies? None of those that make me want to take the game and throw it into a chasm.

Regarding Yuna’s character: A lot of people said that the changes in Yuna’s character were too drastic. This is entirely wrong. It is not unheard of at all for a person who’s been through a traumatic experience to undergo significant changes in their personality. These can take several forms. One is the everyday emo woe-is-me self-pity type changes. Another is driven by the desire to move forward and adapt, making changes to oneself in order to more easily accept the changes around them. Figuring this, the changes in Yuna’s character are not only acceptable, but perfectly natural.
About the world: I’ve also seen people complain about how the world changed too much and how everything is so happy-go-lucky. There’s a precedent for that. After a period of turmoil with a favorable outcome, it’s natural for a society to go on a bit of a high. Just look at America in the 1950’s for an example. It was a time with a big feeling of innocence and growth. However, beneath the surface, some of the most barbaric political battles of the century were being waged. FFX-2 was a very good reflection of that.
That’s a great point, never occured to me. Let’s see people bash Yuna’s character now. As for the whole 1950’s America comparison, I don’t know enough about 1950’s America to comment on it, although I agree with the whole thing about being on a high after such a long era of death, misery and suffering. Seems perfectly natrual to me, i’d be pretty pleased that I could sleep safe at night, knowing that my town isn’t going to be decimtated.

Anyway, why don’t you tell what you thought made Yuna such a bad character? I’ll agree that the character was a bit shallow in FFX, but FFX-2 took those shallow elements from the original and drilled more depth out of them than I would have thought possible.
Now i`ll be the first to stand up and say i was wrong about my prejudice about X-2 but the characters are not what interested me. In fact, as far as FFX-2 goes i felt it was a low point as far as characters go.
Have to admit I didn’t think that in FFX that she was the most original character. I got the general feeling that certain aspects of her personality were copied over from previous FF characters.
Still on the other hand I thought she was an improvement on both Tifa and Rinoa and found her to be alot more interesting in the sequel. =)
in ffx-2, she looks more matured through her speech and behaviour…
it’s just that the gunner costume doesn’t suit her…
You got that to an extent with both Tifa and Rinoa and I started to find it boring after a while. I played FF10 before playing FF9, so for me Yuna was a welcome change, although I found her a little similiar to Aeris. Still I quite liked Aeris as a character (while she lasted) so that didn’t bother me much. =)

to me, i think the most original character in ffx is definitely Lulu…
i don’t find any resemblance of her in other ff, even in other games…
