megaupload (http://www.megaupload.com) – max file size 250mb, files last for 30 days.
that’s the only "big one" that has a long retention rate.
www.sendspace.com – files last for 7 days without activity, speed capped (?)
www.rapidshare.de – recently changed to 7 day file expiration, sendspace is probably better
some ones that haven’t really been tried out but may work well (let us know ~):
http://www.up-file.com
http://www.zupload.com (claims 500mb file sizes, 30 day expiration– sounds good)
http://www.easy-share.com/ (100mb, lasts 30 days)
Change that www.Bodongo.com, into www.Badongo.com, and we’re set. ^^
Here’s the catch, though, from the little bottom segment.
Free Accounts purge unused files after 30 days.
With a Turbo Account, files are not deleted until YOU decide.
Membership starts at $5.99/month. With TONS of extra features included, why not sign-up TODAY!
….downloading a 300 MB file is not going to be pretty :/
Zupload (http://www.zupload.com), I just keep downloading the htm files, not the file itself for whatever reason.
Easy-Share (http://www.easy-share.com) is the same way like Zupload for me.
Let’s take a gander at this.
edit: let’s try sharebig.com, too. 1.5GB limit, 100 day expiration.
edit edit: looks like the wiki is massively out of date. gigasize is 300mb / "45 days minimum"
*starts uploading*
well, looks like gigasize is a new favorite for me ๐
*uploading to sharebig now…*
I get an error trying to upload a file. Oh well…
WikiUpload (http://www.wikiupload.com) is pretty good too. Seems a little slower compared to Gigasize, Rapidshare, maybe even MegaUpload.
Edit: Seems to be gone for now. It might have just been the first attempted download for the day.
EDIT: Looks like MegaUpload has increased the file size to 500 MB now.

Not sure if it will last long tho. Probably all the "pleasures" of rapidshare.DE will come back after they get enough popularity in the COM domain.
This looks pretty good, guys.
So what’s the catch? well, the system is still pretty buggy, so it’s difficult to upload big files, but this is supposed to get better with the time :P. They have also stated that they’re not going to become a megaupload or rapidshare, they’re aimed to create a youtube o del.icio.us kind of site, but for files :-D.
give it a try, you wont regret ๐
www.mydatabus.com – highly recommend this
(You have to view the .xml from the embed code it gives you for uploading music)
It gives you a gig of space, but they tend to expire sporadically.
Do any of these offer direct links?
1.) 200MB upload.
2.) No file expiration date.
3.) Fast downloads.
4.) No Registration (they also offer a free registration service)
5.) No "enter text" prompts, no window-covering spam.
6.) Realtime progress bar when uploading.
6.) No-click downloads…..
Seriously, no click-downloads. No user hassles. When you’re done uploading the file, the site gives you a download link. You paste that link somewhere and when someone clicks on it, it’ll take them to Divshare….. about 5 seconds later, the download will start automatically.
Basically, it makes leeching ridiculously easy, and if you register, you can track your downloads (which makes monitoring leeches easy as well)…..
Besides the filesize limit, there is no real downside in using Divshare.

Just ask!
The good think on MediaFire is that the files Never expire!
But the files may not be bigger than 100 MB
Much better than MegaUpload and Sendspace. The no cap thing is a godsend. I strongly urge anyone who uploads files to use it. The only hard part is getting your files to be less than 100MB (which didin’t exist back when I first started using it)
recomended for me
is good, beautiful and free xD
store to 400 MB
sorry for my english
bye
There is quite a downside. If they find out that a user is uploading copyrighted material, they will delete ALL the content in the account. I know this first hand because they went into mine and deleted all of the VG albums I had uploaded.
Divshare isn’t worth the frustration.

go to your modem box setting & disconnect to re-connect after, that will change ur IP & that will f**k megaupload waiting (limit download per hour)!!!
& go! for unlimited download!

The site is up again btw. Has been for quite some time (but for a while only accessible if you got their IP via email). Well, get your megaupload premium link generator (http://daiphyer.com/megaupload.com/premium/link/generator) on.
Ok it sounds kinda obvious but I didn’t think of this until now…
Ok it sounds kinda obvious but I didn’t think of this until now…
It’s not that simple though… If you open multiple connections you’ll also decrease your speed.
Read my post again. I said this works, if you have practically unlimited bandwidth, such as on, for example, a company or school network. f ex while writing this I’m on a 100Mb/sec connection which is pretty damn fast, the only thing that slows down my up/downloads is mediafire’s own limits.
Perhaps that’s true; I don’t have access to that kind of connection anymore. My connection is 7Mbps, and I get uploads of 500kbps or better on Mediafire, so 300Mb of files takes about 90 minutes. Except they will go and delete any file that’s copyright protected with no warning until someone complains that your link won’t work.
I vote we boycott Megaupload!
Its not good that The biggest thread here has been effectivly taken away from us.
Thread 30315
(Thats the main one)
Rapidshare ???
/me feels disgusted about what megaupload has done.
And I don’t like rapidshare at all. Geez, I guess this means I gotta go back to sendspace or yousendit (I don’t like them either).
Be careful using Divshare; they are known to delete all of the content within a user’s account.
Edit: Guess I could back to using Divshare. In a thread where someone was having trouble with Megaupload deleting their uploads, one person recommended not only password protecting the files, but renaming them to something else as well (i.e. "Matt’s Stage Performance", Darnisha’s New Dance, LOL!")
I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

a) an upload manager, i drag and drop and it’ll just keep uploading until finished (or FTP upload)
b) LONG file retention, like 60+ days
I’ve had mega problems with megaupload, but they aren’t the only ones. Rapidshare have deleted TONS of my files too. I’m currently trying: ExtremeShare, Badongo, FileHo. Rapidshare, Megaupload and FileFactory also have UL managers.

Upload to megaupload throught this site – Sendfile (http://www.sendfile.lolco.net/links/upload.html), because it upload through lifetime premium account so files have no expiration!
I know ways to bypass megaupload , if you a ll are interested , i will post again this weekend
rapidshare, megaupload or torrents should be a standard here.
rapidshare, megaupload or torrents should be a standard here.
If you haven’t noticed, Megaupload deletes most of the links posted on these forums. Mediafire does the same, and, I think, Gigasize. And not everyone can do torrents. Which is probably why more people are uploading to Sendspace and other sites, which maxes out their servers.
I’m not sure on the expiration times, but it’s an excellent service for those downloading.
No waiting times. (Just those few seconds until the link appears, no half hour waits like rapidshare)
No download limits. (If there are, I haven’t reached them yet)
Large files supported. (Again, not sure on the exact size limit, but I’ve downloaded 350mb video’s from there with no problem)
I use DivShare. They’re pretty good. Indefinite file postage, never is purged. Unlimited amount of Files. It’s free. Allows links to preview file and then also allows others to download from your server — Genius!
It’s an uploading site for game-based downloads, like patches, videos or mods of things. I bet, though, you can get away with other files like, in this case, soundtracks. This place is SUPER fast, and allows multiple downloads simultaneously. 1 gig limit PER FILE. Mad raw. I’ve tried it with some Beatmania IIDX soundtracks; downloaded 2 thru 10 simultaneously in about maybe half an hour? I dunno, but it was FAST. I haven’t done enough research on this site yet, though. No idea if there’s a max number of uploads, or if they get removed after a period of time. But, hell, give this baby a try. It’s not a random place; it’s from the 1up.com group of websites.
www.filefront.com — then go to "My Page" and sign up. Better than Rapidfire and MediaFire, really. Enjoy!

I use it for my uploads (amoung other things), and you’re correct about the storage space and other options, though I disagree about the download and upload times; they’re really slow. It took me an hour to download a 30 mb file from my own account. Not to mention the site has a nasty habit of timing out when you upload or download sometimes. Also, they’re generally polite about sending a confirmation message for files in the deletion que, but sometimes they "forget" and you see your files dissapear quickly. Its creepy in a surreal sort of way.
Also I wouldn’t recomend a lot of people using it. Files are monitored, and if a pattern develops, they have no qualms clearing out a person’s file directory. For all its quirks you have to be surprisingly anal about checking up on it all the time. You never know – leave for four days and your stuff could be sent to the great beyond.
What about fileplanet? I haven’t researched it, so I’m not knowledgeable but I don’t think there’s a upload or download limit. I think files are permanet too, not sure. The only problem I see is the waiting ques for some of the files.
Try this link, which is my own file. It’s about 70 mb. See how it works.

The file services I’ve seen frequently used all over the ‘net are Megaupload, Rapidshare, Deposit Files (http://depositfiles.com) (has anyone mentioned it yet?), and very rarely sendspace.
Speaking from someone outside the US, Megaupload sucks for me because it gives me severe country restrictions (I had to install the darn toolbar to let me download stuff, but even then I have to wait for many hours until it will let me download anything). But interestingly enough, Rapidshare works great for me…
As for any tricks regarding IPs, it won’t work for me since my (Cable) ISP has a unique IP for my connection (so if I reset it or mask it or whatever it just keeps insisting on the same IP)… I can’t be the only one in this situation, right?
I guess there are many variables about which the best one could be (mirrors, easy uploading, download limits, etc.)… I guess I’ll have to see which ones I learn to use to begin sharing stuff here… ๐
*Up to 2GB per file
*Share unlimited files

However, some users in other warez forums I’m registered at have complained of pop-ups from this site. I always use the latest version of Firefox; have used AdBlock to block images from many ad servers and use FlashBlock. I’m wondering if this is why I’ve never experienced a pop-up from this site? However, a new window does open when ever I download something from MegaUpload.

That’s correct. Try going to that site using Internet Explorer and you’ll see what the other people are talking about. I use Firefox myself; the difference is night and day.
Wow. I just gave it a try myself…The one and only negative I have against FlyUpload is that it requires you to click on the same link from 1-20 times before the real download link reveals itself. A nuisance, absolutely, but as a downloader, I’d prefer using it to waiting over an hour in queue to download from Rapidshare. Anyway, for every time you click on these gateway – if you will – links, two ad windows pop-up. Not only that, but when the real download link revealed itself and I click on it, my Orbit Downloader program of all things activated itself and wanted to download an .htm file called "dl" from FlyUpload. My Orbit Downloader never runs when I download something; my Free Download Manager and the default Windows Installer do, however, but they didn’t come up this time. I cancelled, of course.
I gotta say, though: What the hell are people still doing using I.E. in this day and age anyway? Bad mumbo jumbo can come your way as a result. Let this site and others like it be just but one example of the disadvantages of using I.E.
I’m hoping the admin or another pro filesharer will pick mine up.

Agreed. A site with the option to delete an upload is important. Which site do you recommend?

Limit: 5 GIGS
(Now, I do not know how long they hold the data, but hey, it’s worth a shot for a limited engagement kind of deal.)
I heard about this today. It is simple to upload and quick to download without adverts at all. Only problem is no upload meter to see how long is left for upload. I also like using Massmirror.
It’s smooth, flawless, and imposes no restrictions whatsoever on the user. There are no waiting times (which I haaaaate, abominate, and loathe). I would highly recommend it especially for hosting humongous files, like movies or TV episodes.
The only cause I had (initially, at least) for complaint concerned opening the files upon downloading.
Large files (like movies) that are split up will end in extensions which your computer won’t recognize until you perform a few procedures. Here’s what you do:
When the download screen with the links to the files come up, the files might end in .aaa and .aab. There’s also a third file you can download that ends in .cab (that means it’s a batch file). AND THIS IS IMPORTANT: Download that too. When you have finished downloading all the files, double-click on the batch file (the one that ends in .cab). That done, you’re all set to enjoy your files!
All you need is HJ Split. http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/
Then rename the Badongo-given extensions (.aa, .ab, etc) to .001, .002, and so forth.
Then use HJ Split to join them together. Make sure all the files are in the same folder, or else HJ Split won’t fuse them.
simple and clean
thanks.

Why is nearly EVERYTHING I want to download hosted on SendSpace? Every time I click it it says "Your download is limited to 50 kbps." Ugh! What is that? That’s useless! And why is everything else on Megaupload with all of its restrictions?
Here’s the way it goes on here: when something is hosted on SendSpace, I’m SOL. When something is hosted on Megaupload, it’s headaches.
When something is hosted on Rapidshare, it’s good news. Because every time I click it they say "It’s Happy Hour, no security questions" and they ALWAYS download at the highest speed possible.
You know where else rocks? The MassMirror links. I pick the Badongo link and everything goes smoothly.
But UGH. I’m trying to find Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 and Silent Hill 2 soundtracks on this site WITHOUT SENDSPACE. It doesn’t look like it can be done and it’s frustrating. I mean really. 50 kbps? That’s as bad as a broken link.
In conclusion, SendSpace gets an F, Megaupload gets a D, Rapidshare gets a B+ and MassMirror gets an A. From a downloading perspective.
theres only a 100mb limit, but files are NEVER taken down due to inactivity and the download speeds are usually awesome.
im on a different forum for upping just regular music albums, and its DEMANDED that everyone uploads to mediafire. its simply the best. you can download as much as you want, save all your files, anything. its perfect.
Maybe so… but friends let you download a whole file instead of losing the connection (thanks Megaupload…). I’ve always used Rapidshare and, though speed is relative when free, i never missed a file, no matter the size.
And that’s something to consider those who want to upload: people bein’ able to download.
All of these sites are like massmirror and sharoneall and I posted them because the 2 listed don’t work.
http://www.mediafire.com – The Best of All! =)
http://www.badongo.com – I???ve downloaded episodes from "Naruto" there and It???s such a good file hosting as MF. =)
http://www.la.gg – Another great file hosting like MF, unknown for many people. =)
FileFactory has been giving me very slow downloads, and the three above are way better than it, MegaUpload and RapidShare IMO.
thanks.
sorry for the doyble post but 7-zip is good or http://kgbarchiver.net/
The very very best thing cuz they managed to compress gta to 10 mb
http://www.mediafire.com
http://www.4shared.com/
ive been using those lately. ๐
Other sites like netload or fileplanet are fine, but please NO megaupload! Its blocked here in Turkey and even using proxy sites I cant download anything…
Also, FileFront is NOT closing down. They were bought buy the original creators of the site !
You just have to normally upload the file and the site automatically uploads it to 5 different sites;
zSHARE –> If it is song or video it let’s you prelisten or preview to it!
Megaupload
Badongo
RapidShare
DepositFiles

RS is just a lost cause at this point. Low upload limit, wait times, slow downloads, and now this new file deletion policy.
I recommend Mediafire for files under 200MB and Megaupload for files over 200MB. MU used to be utter crap, but they seem to have improved a lot in the past year.
edit – nvm I tried again and left it alone for about 10 minutes and it seemed to take it. Odd that it takes so long I think.
edit #3 – omgwtfbbq………. I don’t why but I think that site hates me now. I go the site and it doesn’t even give me the homepage it just automatically starts a ‘loading files’ bar…… I let it sit for at least a couple hours and it still says it. ๐ I tried clicking on some file links in some threads around here and all I get is a blank page with the Mediafire blue site bar at the top. For anyone reading this trying to consider a site to use, this is one does not quite seem convenient.
Edit*old files upload in ’06
Rapidshare.com is terrible. It used to be fairly reliable but now you can hardly ever download a file there.
Here is some reasons why i’m using it for more than a year:
1) While using free download, download speed is near 100 Kb/sec (or even more)
2) There is no limits for IP
3) I can earn some money (not much but i’m using them for buying premium membership on different sites)
REGISTRATION (http://wm.letitbit.net/register.php?invite=6e22ff5539364400dba5dd2ffc3d4a 09)
When I first started downloading from Letitbit about a year ago I had fast downloads around 190 kbps but now it’s so slooooow at around 50 kbps. That is 56k speed on a dsl modem which normally goes to 1.5 gbps. That’s why I always pick your deposit links instead Porko…limited downloads but still fast.
I really love Megaupload…I did not used to but they have improved greatly over the past couple of years.

Hm. I have more than 100 kbps.
Maybe it’s because of different countries?
Maybe it’s because of different countries?
Maybe but as I said I used to get fast speeds at first…I am in the US and I believe Letitbit is out of the Russian Federation.

just4fun
by the way what’s the speed when u downloading from hotfile?
(my ~16 kbps)
(my ~16 kbps)
Hotfile downloads for me usually start out around 100 kbps and end up between 50 – 30 kbps at the finish. XD
Jeez, I usually get around 800kbs – 1MB.
The good thing about massmirror is you upload to a multitude of websites at once with a year of activity.

these are roughly in order of preference, ie, the ones I consider best are listed first (though you’re free to comment, suggest new services, etc).
megaupload – max file size 250mb, files last for 30 days.
that’s the only "big one" that has a long retention rate.
www.sendspace.com – files last for 7 days without activity, speed capped (?)
www.rapidshare.de – recently changed to 7 day file expiration, sendspace is probably better
some ones that haven’t really been tried out but may work well (let us know ~):
http://www.up-file.com
http://www.zupload.com (claims 500mb file sizes, 30 day expiration– sounds good)
http://www.easy-share.com/ (100mb, lasts 30 days)
You just forgot to tell about another site.
Posted by Zentor (http://forums.ffshrine.org/member.php?u=124532)
wonder why no one mentioned MediaFire?
The good think on MediaFire is that the files Never expire!
But the files may not be bigger than 100 MB
It alomst pass silenciosly by you. That’s good which the Zentor remenber. The MediaFire don’t delete your donwloads. And too I only uplodad my soundtracks files to there.
Great speed with jDownloader!
4shared.com Is The Best Site !! Everyone Can Download From It … Plus It Saves Your Files For a Long time
EDIT: It’s confirmed that links will only be removed if the copyright holder files a complaint against a download. This could be a good service for GH.
cause winamp pro crashes when i try to convert dsp to mp3/any format
"decode error" even tho i have the updated .dll file
and i cant find any other program that actually does convert dsp to something….
This program has a massive selection of file hosting sites that you can upload to, and you can queue them up one after the other.
I personally use this program and upload to FlameUpload because it provides me with 16 mirrors (Would be 17 but Mediafire seems to not work with FlameUpload anymore…)
MediaFire:
How long does Mediafire store files?
For MediaPro subscribers, your uploaded files will be stored forever as long as your Pro account is active. For free accounts, there is currently no time limit on how long uploaded files will be stored as long as you access your account (i.e. login to your account) and your files are being accessed (i.e. downloaded) on a regular basis. Every account is different and different accounts may become idle at different times. As a file sharing service, our goal is to flush out users who are through using MediaFire and their data is collecting dust.
Users receive at least 3 notification emails that files are pending for deletion before any deletion actually occurs. Logging into your account is sufficient to prevent deletions.
From my experience, it never deleted my files unless something like an server accident.
But you must need an account, those files uploaded without an account will be cleaned very quickly!
And you’d better logging in your account for less than every 60 days to keep the files in your account alive. (this is from their old version of FAQ, it maybe no longer available but you’d better do this.)
MegaUpload:
They say they will delete the file didn’t receive any downloads for 90 days. Actually they rarely do this. Files can be kept for much longer.
Any site like MultiUpload and mirrorcreator is nice but you can’t sure they can run for a very long time. If they are dead all your links will be dead, too. So I can’t recommend them a lot.
If they don’t put ‘OST’ or ‘Soundtrack’ in their file name, hosting websites won’t (or might) delete them.
Registering as a free user has some nice boons, so I did. While anon uploaders’ files last 21 days, a free user’s last 90 days.
Anyone can up files of up to 1024mb/1gb and free users get 200 GB of online storage with file manager, allowing file folders and such. Finally, it allows resuming broken uploads and downloads.
Takes a minute to register and it doesn’t require e-mail activation or a credit card or any such crap, so I recommend it, even if only as an anon user.
As the poster before me pointed out, apparently there is a timed download limit. Personally, I’ve never met the limit and as I pointed out, MU gives me the best speeds out of any file host, and also the largest files. So this limit must be decently high.
Particularly in comparison with, say, GigaSize, which yesterday gave me a 4 hour waiting period after I download 3 files sizing less than 500MBs total.
But in fact it was only today that it allowed me to download another file, as yesterday it kept the message that I had reached the limit, far beyond the 4 hours. So, it allowed me to download again today, but speed was capped at 60kbps. And after I downloaded that 190MB file, now it tells me I have to wait 10 hours.
Summarily, I’d avoid uploading there.
I think none of the multi-file uploading sites is really good, many of them lack of maintaince, some of them steal the elements from other sites, some of them no longer run on the internet. But MultiUpload and mirrorcreator is relatively good.
——————-
My suggestion sites for uploading is still MegaUpload and MediaFire. Note you need accounts of them. For MegaUpload, you’d better change the name of your file, don’t include any words like OST, original soundtrack. For MediaFire, splitting file into a few parts is necessary if the file is too big.
And I find Ziddu is a good for file hosting. It keeps files available for very long, I don’t know this is cause they have less limitations or their site is lack of maintaince.
I have a premium, so IDK.
I’m searching for the Spider-Man Edge Of Time Soundtrack , the new spider-man game which came out the 4 of october .
I searched everywhere on internet , but i don’t find the soundtrack .
He watched some gamepay video and the soundtrack looks great , so it should be good if someany could help me .

Ill omen.
Question is: Who’s next?
That’s what I meant when I said this is an ill omen. Who needs SOPA/PIPA when things like this happen anyways?
Especially fucking MegaUpload, that’s literally one of the worst sharehosters out there. Good riddance.
Especially fucking MegaUpload, that’s literally one of the worst sharehosters out there. Good riddance.
If it works bad for you, it doesn’t mean that it works bad for everyone. Some sharehostings suck in one country, but show great speeds in others.
Over the past 1,5-2 years MegaUpload worked as good as MediaFire for me, for example.
As of now:
Megaupload: Closed
Fileserve: Deleting multiple files. Closed affiliate program.
FileJungle: (Owned by Fileserve) Deleting multiple files. Testing out blocking some USA IP addresses.
Upload Station: (Owned by Fileserve) Deleting multiple files. Testing out blocking some USA IP addresses.
FileSonic: (Owned by Fileserve) Turned into a personal file storage host (no more sharing files)
uploaded.to: Banned USA IP addresses.
FilePost.com: Started suspending accounts with infringing material (doing what Hotfile did)
Try to avoid Fileserve’s sites and uploaded.to.
(edit: wow, have not posted here in so long, I don’t like my signature. lol)
Is there any other file-sharing sites that I can safely upload files without worried being deleted?
Fileserve went the way of Filesonic, RIP fileserve.
The fuck is this? Looks like someone wants to earn fast money, ha? ๐
Thought so, too, i guess we’ll find out in a few days.
My MediaFire account still has everything, strange given the amount of traffic…. Guess i’ll miss them soon enough lol
Especially fucking MegaUpload, that’s literally one of the worst sharehosters out there. Good riddance.
That’s how I got most of my anime though and now my life is basically over.

Zwuh? What are talking about? MF works on my end. All my stuff is there. And form what I’ve read they don’t plan on going anywhere. MediaFire CEO: Unlike Megaupload, our business model isn’t built on piracy | VentureBeat (http://venturebeat.com/2012/01/22/mediafire-megaupload-business-model-piracy/)
All of my stuff has been deleted, I mean all of my Mediafire files.
Firstly, I went to My Files page.
Then, I clicked to one of the folders.
Lastly, I went to My Account page. I notice that there is 0 GB of storage used, whereas I used more than 50 GB of storage to upload soundtracks.
Is it possible only my files being deleted?
Unlikely. Probably your account was among the first ones to receive the "fix". For the moment i still got everything on mine, but given what’s happening to other MF accounts it shall not last long.
So perhaps I should wait and see what will happen to my files later on?
For what i’m reading around here and on other forums there’s a general consensus about waiting and letting things settle a bit before taking again on upload/reupload… With what’s going on there’s no point in uploading copyrighted material and have it instantly deleted, or worse, having data which might identify you and put you in trouble passed to federals/whoever it will be.
All right, thanks. I seriously hope that my files won’t be deleted at all…
I don’t know about you guys… but I feel like ****.
I don’t know about you guys… but I feel like ****.
Wait… so the government cracking down on something that’s illegal to begin with is a dictatorship?
It’s infringing on our rights so yes. Although I guess we don’t have any rights now that we live in a dictatorship…
Personally, i don’t think so… Still, i can’t help but feeling pissed about the whole situation: One huge site becomes the Tango of the "Tango down" sentence… others wipe out their sharing functionality (Loads of laughs at the "share this page with your friends/on forums" still on FileServe)… When all there was to do, in my opinion, is closing make-money features [now… seriously, if you try to make money by sharing copyrighted material you must want either a lot of trouble or getting your ass royally kicked] and comply with takedown requests, as usual….
Ok, probably i’ve went off-topic, sorry… What i wanted to say was: why are you allowing a government to scare you THAT much? Where were you, as a file-hoster manager… or those who take care of DMCA takedown requests… when the users uploaded such content and it got reported? Some of them were even using complete movies/album/artist names… ! It’s your fault for not doing something sooner, file-sharing isn’t illegal… and those folks who purchased or had legit-premium accounts deserve to use the service they paid for, or at least get a refund.
Well, i think they’re still making some kind of profit, unwillingly… Just look at the ad-filled download link pages of MediaFire, such stuff is there to help them stay online and improve the servers… Or even RapidShare with its RapidCoins that give you premium privileges… They could still be in for a lot of trouble. The infringing user, somewhat ironically, should be the one to risk less [as long as he/she’s not making money out of it through stuff like the make-money program previously available on FileServe… Or selling download links].
Please list, in detail, the rights that are being infringed upon but preventing you from stealing other peoples content.
On MU there wasn’t only illegal content, but also people who had legit files and legit premium accounts… With what the government has done, such honest people got screwed, too… They no longer have the right to share or access their files. Almost the same could be said about FileServe/FileSonic.
Leon, your other post was pretty smart as well. It’s unfortunate that the laws are written as they are. The content isn’t owned by us when we buy it. The content creators give us permission to use it. At least that’s how it works in the US. It’s how the laws are written, and if we want them changed we need to vote for people that will make those changes. I’d personally rather actually "OWN" the media I purchase. I don’t like that I don’t legally own it according to the laws and TOS that is part of the contract you sign when you purchase music, movies etc.
———- Post added at 06:17 PM ———- Previous post was at 06:13 PM ———-
You’re totally right about honest people getting screwed, but the majority of their usage was for piracy. Which is a shame. It was pretty embarrassing to see the ad of music artists talking about using megaupload when their content was being stolen using that very same service. I’m hoping as part of this shutdown that after account investigations, the honest users money is returned to them out of the company assets. They do deserve compensation for the money they have lost.
———- Post added at 06:18 PM ———- Previous post was at 06:17 PM ———-
Whoa. Apparently the quotes got screwed up when my login cookie got removed. Sorry for the confusing double posts.
It works like that pretty much everywhere, when we buy someone’s else creation… we just purchase the right to use it, make a backup copy to keep to ourselves as long as we own the item and, ultimately, something about fair-use which i honestly couldn’t understand to date.
Actually, i’ve just thought of something: in the Terms of Service of file-hosting websites there’s usually a point or two about the user accepting the service as it is, declining company’s responsibility for possible loss of data, or refund of premium accounts which might not be provided.
Law needs to change, and get accustomed to internet, a media that it fails to cover.

lol Yeah fair use is so grey it’s not even funny. I think it’s a "we’re going for the benefit of the doubt you’ll do the right thing" type of legal agreement.
I wouldn’t doubt that’s in there, and it’s sad. No responsibility for those that break the law and screw others. ๐

Where does it say it’s okay to steal other peoples content? I’m not finding that part… Can you point that out to me? Megaupload broke the law by encouraging piracy. They got caught doing it. Now that they have evidence, they acted. It’s how they made their money. It’s entire reason for the shutdown. It’s not about taking things away because they can. It’s about a company making profit off of illegal activities, and encouraging it. Your rights are still intact.
We should probably move the discussion somewhere else, ’cause it’s interesting, but i’d like to say the same old excuses in defense of piracy and pirates once more :D:
1) It may allow you to discover something new, you like it so much that you end up supporting the content’s creator legally.
2) Sometimes those preview files on Amazon/iTunes aren’t enough, and you’d like to know if the release is worth a purchase.
3) This is an expansion of point 1, but it may allow new/underground music bands, doujinshi comics’ artists, etc. to get new loyal supporters.
Illegal sharing is a kind of knowledge sharing, for the way i see it… Not entirely good, but not entirely bad, either.
Well now I can’t watch anime anymore so they ruined my life.

I whole heatedly agree. I can see that sometimes letting someone use the whole product, holding it in their hands, leads to more sales than just seeing pictures of it.
———- Post added at 07:01 PM ———- Previous post was at 06:55 PM ———-
Well now I can’t watch anime anymore so they ruined my life.
Netflix, Crunchyroll, animenewsnetwork, etc. Plenty of places allow for streaming of the content. If you REALLY like it? Go buy it. Bandai-ent is now out of the retail media business partly due to anime fans just downloading fansubs, and partly due to them not understand the market in the US and pricing content accordingly.
Sneaking up on MU, wiping it out overnight = insanity. Businesses use MU for legitimate concerns. Users make backups on MU. I myself had server backups on MU.
Now that’s all gone because the FBI wanted to make an example of MU – ostensibly because it was edging towards a legitimate business model that would have put traditional media outlets right out of business.
Even if I am a 100% legitimate user (I am not; I speak hypothetically and on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of former MU users who are) I must now face the uncomfortable reality that if the company who are looking after my data do something the government don’t like (and let’s not forget – MU haven’t had a trial yet; they’ve been wiped out all the same) then it’s all gone and I can’t do a single thing about it. Storage you cannot rely on, that is not under your control, that may evaporate at a moment’s notice or go offline thanks to the actions of other people… is no storage at all. The cloud, therefore, is worthless.
Can we trust the cloud? No. Does the government / FBI give a monkey’s ass about legitimate users when considering the matter of piracy? No. Have they knowingly dumped on hundreds of thousands of legitimate users in order to get their man? Yes. Are they likely to deliberately misrepresent and grossly overinflate the facts in their case in order to secure a victory? Yes.
All uncomfortable answers – whether you’re a pirate, a guy who is storing his valuable family photos on MU as a cloud backup, a business who use MU to pass around files too large for email, an indie artist using MU to legally distribute his own music, or an open-source developer offering his software on MU to provide resilience and reduce bandwidth expenses – wouldn’t you agree?
I am a pirate; but this action is unfair, and unprecedented to all people.
Then give me the ******* money because I don’t have any ******* money AT ALL.
Weak argument, man. You don’t need such stuff as Anime/music/or even games, you just want it. The best way to show industry that perhaps things need to change would be to not buy its products at all and leave them on the shelves, all the while not going the other way and pirate…. If you choose this road you’re doing their game, ’cause they’ll use piracy as an excuse to raise prices and find other means to fuck up customers.
I’m perfectly aware of the studies showing how piracy doesn’t really have that much of an impact on "bigger names" and some "smaller ones", but still… There are legal means to obtain such stuff (example: import) and if you are unsatisfied with them… you should let it be known, legally. With the way things have gone/are currently going/will likely go the situation will never change. We can come up with all the excuses we want for our actions, but such material should be paid in order to be enjoyed (they deserve some kind of compensation)… And if you don’t have the money to buy what you want, you should either wait and save up… or give up and go on. After all we’re not talking about stuff such as food, but media for our enjoyment…. The mere fact we like it doesn’t mean we actually need it.

JumboFiles.com – Dedicated Hosting (http://jumbofiles.com/)
Is it fast to upload files at that site?
I honestly don’t know as personally my own upload speed is crap. I was more suggesting it based on the generous uploading options and space it provides for free users.
Warez-BB forum had a good list of filehosts that are still around too. I’ll try to find it and post it when I can.
Is now useless as they no longer upload to their servers. You’re better off uploading direct to places like MediaFire.
All right, thanks.
My files at Mediafire are still not there. I guess my 40 GB worth of files are gone now. ๐

It’s time to abandon rapidshare now too.
Sorry guys but most people are free users and don’t have the money to buy premium. That’s BS anyway.
Please try other filehosts like the ones I posted in my list or perhaps others.
like mediafire, ddlanime, jumbofiles, glumbouploads, ifile it, etc. I’ve heard good things about all of those filehosts.
I want to contribute with a few PSP soundtrack rips I have extracted…
What’s the recommended hosting file service?
Thanks!
Guys, you could switched to those services don’t affected by copyright issues. Like those services located in China and Russia. I’m from China and I upload stuff very very safely, and some of the services runs very stably.
This site has many great features such as:
– Don’t need an account to upload
– Has hotlinking for mp3s (for registered users)
– A lot of space
– Can listen to a music file before downloading
– Can upload ANY file type
– more that I’m too lazy to list
This is just one of my personal favorite sites.
This is what the country has come to: you don’t need to pass a law, you just need to dangle it around publicly enough that you can intimidate those it targets into submission.
Mediafire is still good if you have a link, but they seem to scour their stuff much more enthusiastically now, and have done something masking much of their content from Google (not sure about other engines).
4shared and Depositfiles both still work normally ( *crosses fingers* ). I think Oron still does. Not sure about Hotfile.
– Sharebee.com, the one and only online file hosting distribution service. (http://www.sharebee.com/)

Multi Mirror Hosting Files at Hotfile FileServe FileSonic (http://digzip.com/)
Mirrorcreator – Upload files to multiple hosts (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/)
Upload Mirrors – Easy file upload to multiple free file hosts (http://uploadmirrors.com/)
Uploading.to – Upload files to Multiple File Hosts in one click (http://www.uploading.to/)
Gazup! Uploads your files to multiple file hosts – Gazup! (http://www.gazup.com/)
!EmbedUpload.com – upload your files to multiple file hosting sites (http://www.embedupload.com/)
I suggest uploadmirrors, gazup, embedupload and uploading simply because they offer rapidshare, where files have a tendency to last longer than in other filesharing services. If you use them, I recommend that you back up the mirror links as well, because some services may die, but the mirrors will keep alive as long as they are used. In the past I had to re-upload some files because I did not take this precaution.
Mediafire is an excellent service, but I believe they do take content down if it is too popular. That is, if a file is downloaded by many people in a short period of time, MF seems to check the link and regularly takes down any copyrighted or questionable material. This has not happened to me, but I do not share popular material.
There is another problem in the future. Mediafire service is anchored in the US and I believe that a new legislation will come in effect next year that will cause that most files will have to be taken down. At the moment, I cannot access the website where I read this and, therefore, cannot quote which exact legislation it is, but I do remember that it was suggested to stop using Mediafire and other US-based filesharing services in preparation for that legislation, so I believe it would be a good idea to research which filesharing services do not have ties to the US and which of them work the best.
I think it is a must, these services were just too easy to die. And I think only Mirrorcreator can be called good among these, many others of these even copied other’s page designing to set up their site, once set up’d, they did not even maintain it.
RIAA: ISPs to implement anti-piracy measures by July 12 – TechSpot News (http://www.techspot.com/news/47819-riaa-isps-to-implement-anti-piracy-measures-by-july-12.html)
Because of this new policy by US-based ISPs, it is suggested to abandon any US-based filesharing services, like Mediafire.
Besides Rapidshare, which is Germany-based and which won a sentence in its favor in that country last year, therefore making its service legal (not the files), I believe Depositefiles and uploaded.to are also German services, although I believe they do have restrictions with US-ips that make then unusable for most people in the US.
There is another option that I have been using as a download user and that has worked very well. It is Russian and it might be a little complicated to register, but from what I’ve read and used, it seems well worthwhile:
Yandex Narod (http://narod.yandex.ru/)
I have also used a few Asian filehosting services that also work quite well, but I don’t remember their names. I’ll try to look for them.
I think 115.com is the best at the moment.
Thank you, realnabarl.
http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/dropcanvas.com says that IP address is located in US. Next dead man.
Really a big shock to me, I won’t recommend it anymore.
MediaFire users really should backup the files or at lease change the file names into those won’t cause problems.
With MF not recommended and not counting multi mirror services, which are the current filesharing services that work well? The ones that I know that are free and non-US based:

How do they work for everyone else?
My account received sevaral strike these months, and after the closest one they checked my account, finally they suspended it.:(
I’m regret I didn’t take enough attention on it.
Might be better. to use it ๐
Really a big shock to me, I won’t recommend it anymore.

What I like to do is, use MediaFire to store my files for free and then use the other hosts to share them. That way, I don???t have to keep buying hard drives to store my stuff. Mediafire has a habit of suspending accounts lately, so I don???t use it to share.
While a good alternative and very good advice, that kind of defeats the purpose of finding a good uploading site since, essentially, most file hosting services with free services allow you to keep your private files for as long as you want, you just can’t share the content publicly, so that’s really isn’t useful for sharing albums. In that instance, it’d be better to use a multi-mirror service so that one doesn’t have to do double work when uploading.
Try those?
– Don’t name files into what would be recognized as copyrighted material.
– Don’t name folders into what would be recognized as copyrighted material.
– If you received 3-10 strikes (more strikes more dangers), you should backup your files, before they check your account.

Hello ,
The file [file name here] violates the MediaFire Terms of Service. Due to it being distributed from your account, it has been removed. Also, a Strike has been placed against your account and can lead to a termination of service.

Thank you for using MediaFire as your cloud based file sharing service provider.

By the way, other services that I have found to work somewhat well are these:
*Minus – Free Image and File Sharing (http://minus.com/) (IP anchored in Spain)
*Rapidgator.net: Fast, safe and secure file hosting (http://rapidgator.net/) (IP anchored in Germany)
*uploaded.net (http://uploaded.net/) (IP anchored in Denmark)
*Verzend.be – upload, email & send large files up to 1GB for free! (http://verzend.be/) (IP anchored in France)
The problem with them is to actually test them and see for how long unpopular files are kept online. Regardless, any multi-mirror service that provides links to any of these services plus Mediafire, Depositfiles or Rapidshare is a good option.
It’s call billionuploads.
You guys should try it and see how it works out.
-sigh-
So that makes Minus pretty much useless. Once again the search for simple file sharing continues…
MediaFire is becoming trashy, it just added some new rule to limit the password protected, splitted archives downloading.
Let’s look forward to the new MegaUpload.
If changing the name + password protect is not enough. Do not give a click-able link would make it safe!
If the link is hotlink that could be recorded cause the browser of the one who clicked the link would sent some info to the server.
Let’s look forward to the new MegaUpload.
Yeah thats what happened with Thread 110839
The first part is now unaccessable without paying, but the parts 2&3 are still downloadable oddly enough. You could circumvent this by first making the set on mediafire and when it gets nuked, set identical first part rar on some other site. (Which is what I hope nobunagaoda will do at some point, pretty please? I really like the music in Orochi 3 )

I have not received any kind of notifications from their strikes at me.

MediaFire has become unreliable for this site. Links from there seem to be deleted almost as soon as they go up. Pass protection makes no difference, I found. I suspect a snitch or two on the Shrine, making trouble. But even if that iS the case, sharing a MediaFire link here is almost guaranteeing it’s removal. Oddly though I had one locked so that others can’t use it, I can still access it myself….
I suspect we have a bitch reporting our uploads. Recently I upload in 1 day, and 5 hours later, the was removed.
———- Post added at 07:22 AM ———- Previous post was at 07:19 AM ———-
I think there is something else going on. A member was giving links only via PM, and they were removed too. But there should have been no way for that to happen.I have been using MF for years, andit has only been in the last two or three weeks that there have been any problems.
I share the same issue as you. Mediafire is pretty much the only sharing site I can use in my country. And a friend of mine who lives in very stricted cyberpolice country, he can only use mediafire with his countermeasures against the cyberpolice. I can’t share nothing with him, if not through mediafire.
If mediafire goes down on me, all my shits and houndreds of shares I have in the forum will go down for good. Because My life is not uploading, and re-uploading 10 gb of stuff I have shared or even more….. makes me have and headache
This guy here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/warriors-orochi-3-a-110839/#post2190672) talked that the mediafire links were not working, but, he tried at a different hour, and he downloaded it fine.
More weird is when people tell me "file not available" and I check and teh link is working fine with me. Other times I can only see the link if I am logged in my mediafire account.
The file is in my account , yes, but I had no notification whatsoever of having a file taken down.
Because of these issues, I am starting to think in a system of share like this, that for some might not be soo good. But this is just an idea.
I was thiking of creating groups, specific groups.
no wait. Explaning better:
Sharing using DC++ (whatever is called) and sharing the adress or how we are to suposed to do so we can share. Ok, it would make threads useless and the downloading share would be working in private, but to be honest…. I think we are getting in a bridge in where we have to protect it as much as we can.
I have tried several sharing sites, and I do not recommend Pejeeshare. Really!!!!
SendSpace looks great also, and you can do stuff without login or account.
I hope your all have a nice Christmas/Holiday and I know this has little to do with the topic, but I just wanted to say the world needs more love and compassion, I’ve seen to many people in need of aid and help, I see a world that desperately needs help, so please let us work together to make it a better place, and I thank the site owner who put all there time into making it and all the people who helped.
Peace!
Size per file:
Google Drive, IDK.
SkyDrive allows 2GB via client uploading, 300MB via web uploading.
Box.com allows 2GB.
These services could keep your files permanently, and I think doesn’t have strict rules like MediaFire.
Thanks in advance for enlightening the newbie.
Thanks in advance for enlightening the newbie.
My suggestion is that you use a multi-mirror service like uploadmirrors or directmirror, keep a copy of all mirror urls and post the link given by the multi-mirror service. Since the content will be spread in several servers, it has a higher chance of lasting longer than using a single server and if the multi-mirror service fails, you can post the backed-up urls. I do not recommend RapidShare because it now limits the amount of downloads per day, so, although it is great for uploaders, it is quite limited for downloaders. MF will have the content there if it is not popular, though there may be some problems with hotlinking since MF does forbid some domains from downloading with hotlinking. If you want to use a single host, the ones I have found to work well for a very long time (months at least, if not years) try Depositfiles or FreakShare, although they are not as fast for downloading as MF, but they are quite reliable regarding storage longevity.
mirrorcreator (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/)
ExoShare (http://exoshare.com/)
FlashMirrors (http://flashmirrors.com/)
maxmirror.com (http://www.maxmirror.com/)
EmbedUpload (http://www.embedupload.com/)
JHEBERG (http://www.jheberg.net/)
Some of them supports account, you can upload, and you can save your file into one storage space which doesn’t delete your files even it was not active.
You have to remember: I’m asking to be educated on this stuff, which means you have to proceed from the (correct) assumption that I don’t know the first thing about the first thing when it comes to file uploading. The only "multi-mirror" service I’ve encountered before now was in a fun house maze. I don’t know what the term means in this context. I was just quick enough to make the connection that MF is MediaFire, but that’s about it.
I did follow up on your Depositfiles suggestion. Looks like all I have to do is drag & drop files in order to upload them. Seems simple enough. Do I do this with an entire folder (containing all the tracks), or do I have to do it one track at a time?
I trust you’re beginning to see what sort of neophyte you’re dealing with here. . . .
BatShare.
^^^These are both similar in terms of download speeds for free users.
Why these aren’t being used already… is unknown to me.
Perhaps a detailed explanation as to why instead of simply "No" or "lolnope" is necessary?
I’d say… yes.

Simply said, a multi-mirror is a service through which you can upload files to different filehosting services with a single upload. The advantage is that you only need to upload a file once and the service will give you multiple links. For example, a single upload to Mirrorcreator will give you links to Bayfiles, RapidGator, TurboBit and many others without having to upload the file several times and with no registration required. As mentioned in previous posts, this services tend to die from time to time, but not the links to said filehosts.
In depositfiles, I believe that you can upload multiple files without problem, but if you have problems you can use zoom’s File & Image Uploader, which is an upload manager for multiple services, including depositfiles. However, If you are uploading single songs, I believe that there is little problem with MF or Google Drive since individual tracks aren’t regularly targeted to be taken down for some reason, unless they are really popular.
YOU GUYS! ๐ are all silly. Make an uploading account named after your username so it’s . MAKE sure that it is google gmail. Now go to google drive, upload your files and enjoy. Unlimited size upload limit, with a nice 5gb for starting. Run out of space? Make a new account called and continue on there! Has a whopping 3 – 5 mb download rate PER SECOND!! Enjoy my friends. Its how I roll now
As I mentioned, the problem with Google Drive is that it is a service US-based, so at any moment they can restrict access if they are requested to do so. Also, remember that Google runs YouTube, a service which is very well known to take down videos and music as soon as someone complains even if the complaining party doesn’t actually hold the copyright. Google Drive does work, but no better than MF and MF is far better for sharing in my opinion. For backing up, Google Drive is a great option, but not for sharing popular material, the kind that is taken down by MF. After all, the main purpose of this forum is to share material that is not easily available otherwise and it helps if links last for a long time. I have used Google Drive both for uploading and downloading, but my opinion is that it really isn’t better than MF for sharing. Note that very few people use Google Drive for sharing material in forums or blogs.

I’d say… yes.
SendSpace is good except that files that aren’t popular don’t tend to last as seen in some of the topics here. Also, it is a US-based domain so there is always that fear that a link will be taken down. BatShare, I used it once for download, it works ok, but it is mostly unknown, so we don’t really know how reliable it is in the long run.
Is it worth checking Mega out at all?
I believe that yes, since it theoretically is a much improved and more secure version of Google Drive without being US-based. But at the moment it’s no good since it is kind of crowded, so the service at the moment is somehow difficult to use. Give it a few weeks and it should be good to use. It’s going to be a very interesting service for sharing purposes.
There is a Temporary Error Retrying thing. Why?
How good is this site about many different things? Will it be better than old MegaUpload?
Wow, there are so many of these upload sites.
Unlike them, cloud services are fast and seems don’t have many limitation.
Some cloud services:
SkyDrive has 7GB per user and it is fast.
4Shared has 15GB per user (but will delete your account if you are not logged in for 180 days).
Yandex.Disk (Russia) has 3GB (can be upgrade easily to 8GB by free) but the download speed is not stable.
Baidu Cloud (China) has 5GB, but only in Simplified Chinese language.
Google Drive has been mentioned above.
I don’t know much about 4Shared, but other 4 has a good background (large company hehind).
Generally, China and Russia does not have some strict rules for copyright as US and many western countries.
Google has an online extracting system, which can let you view zip and rar online ATM. So I guess it is easy for Google to check your compressed files. If you don’t want your files to be checked and got banning, I guess you must add password to protect filenames, the filenames must not be visiable!
Anyone using rapidshare? Is there still a limit on how many free downloads can be made?
Limit 1GB download bandwidth for each file per day.

IDK what the hell Kim Dotcom are thinking. There’re still many online storage service on the internet. MEGA is that powerful to popularize Chrome like this? I don’t think so. I will say don’t use it if you don’t want people complaining to you that they don’t want installing Chrome for download a file.

I try to urge people to stay away from places like File Factory, Rapidshare, Rapidgator, Uploaded, and Deposit Files due to their poor downloading times and lack of care for free users. It is a huge hassle having to download from their servers.
Shortly after I uploaded and linked to my first rip (MediaFire, in case that’s relevant), it was taken down due to a Terms of Service violation. I know this whole ripping thing falls into a legal gray area, but this isn’t a problem I see often around here; does anyone have any recommendations for avoiding it?

Usually that will happen if your link gets a lot of downloads in my exp but sometimes its just random unluckiness. What I decided to do was ask people if they wanted my link they should pm me that way you avoid a very large number of downloads. The way I figure if the person really wants the link they would pm me for it.

We really should stop using MediaFire IMO.
We really should stop using MediaFire IMO….on a different host website, perhaps?
With 200+ things backlogged to share, stuff will probably go out of availability before I am very far along. *sigh*
Right now I am on Rapidshare, but will only use FREE which restricts me to 5G of files (their prices are too high, I could only go about $60 per year).
I WAS on Mediafire until I started getting the same crap that you guys mentioned above. I am going to investigate some of the suggestions here. Thanks for all of them.

I expect soon to make a massive upload in the anime section so I would like to know what is the best Uploading site that will keep my files the longest available, and won’t require a premium account (I am ok to get a free member accoutn on the site u suggest though). I have mediafire but I worry it easily supress my files.
So what do you suggest me folks?
I really enjoy the sharing that I do since it is oddball stuff that is (I try to check) not readily available or for sale, meaning it’s not only fun to stumble across, I’m not as likely to be targeted as an encroacher.

So what do you suggest me folks? In my opinion, for longevity, Depositfiles. Also TurboBit and Rapidshare are good hosts for longevity, although Rapidshare limits how much free users can download per day. Hotfile is also good as long as the archive is downloaded regularly and there are no DMCA complains. Mega does seem to be the best option regarding download speed, security and longevity, but bear in mind that the upload and download process is resource-intensive, that is, there is a high chance of failure if you are using your connection for other uploads/downloads at the same time. You don’t actually need to use Chrome or a browser to upload and download. Zoom fileuploader can upload to Mega and Mipony and similar download managers can download from Mega easily.
In general, MF is relatively safe and excellent for longevity, but the newer and more popular a file is, the chances of it being deleted get higher. If you plan to share material from obscure anime series, feel free to use MF. Copyright holders rarely try to take down soundtracks from obscure series of the 1980s or older, like Govarian, for example. But anything from a large studio, particularly Toei, a popular artist, a popular mainstream series or something that is on iTunes is at risk of being taken down at any moment. You can try to protect these files by changing their filename, but MF seems to regularly scan the content and MF now severely limits encrypted files even if you try to hide it by changing their filetype, so you can only split files with HJSplit if you want to do something like that.
MEGA claims this. So it means they can’t check your file’s legality unless they got your public link? Hope this is true.
I’ve been using Rapidshare (5G for free). I guess what I will do is, go through everybody’s suggestions and spread the stuff between several hosts.
RapidShare? It has daily bandwidth limitation, and if you don’t remember logging in your account within 90 days all your stuff would be gone.
Just don’t be stupid. Put the name in code like "74832".
I named the files as "P2D1" (as in Portal 2 – Disk 1), used 7-zip to split the zip in more files and put a password.
For every file I uploaded and shared, Mediafire says: "Sharing of this file is restricted because it is a (corrupted | multivolume | encrypted/password protected) file".
Should I create archive in 7z format?
For a while there I was in a funk when MediaFire started getting snoopy and blocking things. I was getting pretty miffed. I canceled my account on MediaFire, deleting all the files I had there. Also deleted all my posts for MediaFire.
I started investigating others and settled on Rapidshare. I have quickly filled up their 5g "free" and think their paid membership is too overpriced. Now I am mostly on PackUpload – Free upload and file sharing (http://en.packupload.com/) because they claim to keep stuff SIX YEARS.
Anyway, for a while I wasn’t posting stuff and that may have given you the impression that I was laying dormant. Now I am sharing stuff Mondays and Thursdays, old stuff and new thrift-store finds and my compilations.
So, you might try PackUpload – Free upload and file sharing (http://en.packupload.com/) .

I bit the bullet and spent the $50 for a year on Yandex (http://www.yandex.com/). Nobody has reported any problems with downloading from them.
REGARDING MEDIAFIRE:
I have wondered if encrypting a file or giving it a code name is simply a red flag for MediaFire. When I did those things they started restricting them right and left. This was several months ago when I started this thread. I think that they are eager to find reasons to suspend a file. Probably a case of CYA. But this made them useless.
So far much happier with Yandex.

It is terrible. I would say, on average, about 80-90% of the time I try to download something from Mega, it fails. It either just stops totally or loops back once it gets to around 95. It usually loops back to about 90% then goes up again, down again etc. on an infinite loop.
Mega is infuriating to use.

So I’m noticing a discrepancy in file sizes for my MP3 files. I have tracks from both the Xenoblade OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/18946) and the Xenoblade X OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/51792) in my iTunes playlist. But I noticed that the file sizes for the XCX files are positively massive compared to the XC files; the XCX tracks take up more than twice the file size that XC does. (XC = not even 300 MB; XCX = just over 600 MB) And yet, if you look at track times, the two albums are fairly similar–in fact, the original XC has a little *longer* playing time despite XCX taking up more twice the data space.
Does anyone know why this is? What factors into MP3 file size other than track time length? Is there a way to compress the file size of those XCX tracks?
So I’m noticing a discrepancy in file sizes for my MP3 files. I have tracks from both the Xenoblade OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/18946) and the Xenoblade X OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/51792) in my iTunes playlist. I’m no expert, but of course the bit rate would make a difference in file size, 128 or 320 kbps etc … Does Bitrate Really Make a Difference In My Music? (http://lifehacker.com/5810575/does-bitrate-really-make-a-difference-in-my-music)

Those who are US Based users, if you are not aware of the service Freegal:
Free Music service supported by many local libraries across the nation.
Key Facts:
Legal Free Downloads of Popular/In Demand Music (Mainly from Sony Music Catalog)
Given 5 Free Downloads a Week (At least my library does, yours may vary)
Quality is 256 Kbps MP3 CBR
Legal Ad Free Streaming for 3 Hours a Week
Resets Once a Week on Mondays
Can Get more Downloads per library card/account in a week
Some examples of their popular Soundtrack titles would be:
Star Wars 1-6
X-Men Film OSTs
Recent Releases
Kung Fu Panda 3
The Martian Score
+Ton of normal artists music, For Ex. Adele newest album on there legally for free
All can legally be downloaded and played back for personal use (sure 5 tracks at a time is a bit of a pain, but at least its a step towards legalizing your Music Collection, or making sure you are getting them through proper sources, and better than hoping for a re-upload for a given title)
For more in depth look here
https://youtu.be/r7vPqc2mRws?t=1m1s
Plus some info about other free services many libraries have (free LEGAL audiobooks/ebooks/comics/magazines, movies etc)
As I understand it the labels are reimbursed via Freegal with some fixed fee, and therefore all music is paid for, and you may be paying for this service via your Local taxes and have access to the service via your local library and may not even be aware of it. Why not take advantage of something that is available to you, especially for those of us who sometimes nab music here because we want to enjoy the stuff for free. (it’s just another way to help support the labels through proper means!)
The only downside of this that I have seen so far is that the mp3s you download can be tagged or labeled horribly, but thankfully we have free apps like MP3tag to help clean those up, and also you can upload these tracks without worry to your cloud services like Amazon music account or Google Music account to legally stream without worrying.
Hope you guys consider it!
Why not just upload to mega?
Why not just upload to mega?
Silly newbie!
(MY OPINION:)
1) It’s a violation of the law to duplicate some items. So PM is theoretically more sub rosa.
2) Some people derive ego gratification from the attention.

It does not have any country restrictions that I am aware of and today is easily the best file host next to the one I am about to mention.
I just discovered 1fichier a couple of months and much to my surprise it does not throttle your download speed just because you are a free user!
Also it has the most reasonable rates that I have ever seen as well.
1 Year 10 € = 11.12 USD
Lifetime 99 € = 110.07 USD
How are their file retention and take-down policies? I find that Mega, Mediafire, and Uploaded are terrible in these respects. Mega & Mediafire may be fast, but they’re notorious for taking down files due to DMCA requests. I think they would take down a file named "Eagles Greatest Hits" even if it did not contain any songs from the album. I’ve posted files to MEGA and they were taken down within hours. If anyone has any secrets to preserving uploads on MEGA, I’m all ears. I’ve tried giving them random file names, password protecting them, and putting them on sites like Embedupload, to no avail. UMG seems to have my number, even though I’ve shared only 3 albums or so. The only thing I haven’t tried is requiring people to PM me for the links because I don’t have time for that. I recommend Rapidgator, Depositfiles, Turbobit, or Yandex. Their take-down policies seem rather weak. I have found files on RG, DF & Yandex especially 5 or more years after they were posted. While most of their speeds for free accounts are pitiful, Yandex speeds are pretty good, as are premium accounts for the others. Getting a premium account for some of them can be difficult, since they may not take US credit cards, but most of them can be obtained through resellers, often at a discount. I’m open to any other suggestions.
Ideally I’m looking for this criteria (in descending order of importance):
Free to upload
Free to download
Doesn’t require a program/browser add-on
Doesn’t need a sign up (or can use a throwaway email address)
Ability to host lots of stuff/generous storage space
Fast upload speed for me
Fast download speed for you
Not a burdensome level of captcha/affiliate links (some are ok, so long as they aren’t likely to had people downloading a lot of unwanted junk instead of the files)
Decent file retention
Works with Tor
I think that’s everything, but I may have overlooked some considerations.

No idea if it works with Tor (it probably does) but it hits all of your other criterias. Best content hosting site of all time, imo. You may need to download their app or JDownloader for big (5 GB+ I think) files because of a browser limitation (not their fault).
Yes, I pay good bucks to share the music. Of course, most times you will find that on the Record Round-Up, and not specifically announced HERE. So as my tagline says,
