I’m playing FF VIII and wonder what happens if I don’t exactly follow the plot.
In game, I have an objective right now (like go there, do this etc.)
But I want to go to another places, exploring other cities, traveling back to balamb etc.
Does it have any negative effects on game ? Like getting stuck later etc. ?
Thanks,
There is one point in FF8 where you can get stuck (or at least I did) inside Balamb, when going up against Raijin & Fujin. I can’t quite put a time on it, it’s been so long since I played, but if you’re not up to scratch, physically and tactically you’re going to get your arsed kicked. And be stuck without any other random battles in side Balamb Village.
I disagree, good sir.
FFVIII is actually easier when you try to stay as low leveled as possible. Dodge/escape as many battles as you possibly can (save ofcourse for the have to fight boss battles). Because in this FF, the monsters actually level up as you do. While they are at their low levels, they don’t hit hard and lack abilities. When at higher levels, they’ll hit hard, have more abilities and magic at their disposal.
This then will also count for boss battles, they level out with you.
That’s a shame ๐
Obvilion has the same flaw that kills the feeling of progress and character development…

Yeah but if you go through the game on a low level. It isnt a challenge. I found it far to easy while plodding along on level 21 or whatever. Thats why I prefer to level up. Making the bosses more challenging and more interesting to play. Because they have access to more attacks, abilities and magic. It requires you to play with a bit more effort. Then you would do if they were on a low level.

Yes, of course, you’ve got me with that point but if you consider the fact that it takes aeons of battling to get hold of those abilities that stem from your GF’s that really do make life easier. You are right enough though, I suppose what I said would apply more to FF7 in a way but with the Raijin/Fujin battle, leveling up before hand obviously helped, because I couldn’t get passed it the first time around (although of course, each to their own experiences)
Xander nails it though.. ๐
