lol i was bored out of my mind so i picked up a pencil and copied sephiroth!

I didn’t say it was , I was bored… i don’t actually like copying, i usually like to make my own things up, its more interesting! =)

Art is art, it doesn`t have to be original. I learned how to draw by copying carton characters i saw on t.v. You might as well start with something you`re interested in, i say.

I started with copying too, but i guess that if you want praise for something it should really be something … more original, otherwise youre just asking people to praise your ability to copy what someone else has created already

It’s hard to give praiseful comments to someone if all they did was copy someone else’s art. I also started out with copying (mostly digimon and stuff… I don’t think I copied people much, though I probably should have). Not to mention it’s hard to critique, because what can you say? "Copy this part better"?

You shouldn’t post stuff on the internet on open forum if you don’t want to get both positive and negative feedback. He actually handled my comment better than you did.

Still, your comment was just silly and wasn`t even criticism. Look through this forum and you`ll find plenty of people who draw their favorite characters or whatnot.

Don`t get me wrong, i don`t particularly like it i was just saying. You`re right, it isn`t worth arguing about at all. I`m off to fill my belly with pasta and play pac-man.

its called sketching not copying and it takes alot of skill to do. If you actually want it to look good that is

There is nothing wrong with copying. It’s not like we can draw perfectly straight away. People have got to start somewhere, and copying a good picture helps with your skills in shading, body proportion etc…

Anyway Yassen, that is actually a pretty good picture, even if he is standing on a slant. If you want my advice, which your probably don’t, try to make your linework cleaner. If you do, then we can see all the hard effort you put into the little details easier.
Other than that, very nice work Yassen.

I would say you have a nice start.The head and body look slanted, and his face is a bit lop sided. If you work on your per portion and fix your perspective, you’ll do just fine in the future. Keep trying.

Agreed. Its really just to learn techniques.

Eh, i couldn’t do much better myself. That’s why i focus on writing a lot more than drawing… (when i have the time to, lol) i have a few things i copied and modified a bit a long time ago and stuff.
