well katanas have good chance of combo hits but ninja swords have an even better chance of this (im gonna have vaan use ninja swords and swords)
but i havent noticed how the bonuses come in with the magic power or anything. using heavy armor the dmg is reduced better than mystic armor but the dmg dealt using the weapon with either is almost pretty much the same but im getting slightly better dmg with heavy armor

Seems like if u have a character with all magick and attack(battle lores) augments mixed with say a high lvl heavy piece of armor(Str Bonus) and a high lvl piece of mystic armor(Magick Power Bonus) using a katana would indeed kick much ass in FF XII

Lordly Robes(Myst) – +5 Str, +15 Mag Pwr.
Overall u get a +17 Str, +15 Mag Pwr…..best combo for the Katana…..unless
U have a genji helm…..+9 Str, +4 Mag Pwr and u get +56 Evasion…..wow I gotta get this helm

haha yeah i noticed it right away but i guess i wont be able to tell the difference really till late game.. i have Fran using mystic and heavy as well before i was switching the armor depending on if i had her using bow or katana
But I’m sure u knew that…..I like the way u can swap out equip so easily in this FF

About raising magic power and STR for katanas, how do u actually raise the magic power? Through augments of magic or from items? Most armor has a magic resistance for me, I didn’t notice any armor with magic power increase or magic hit.
the heavy for basch and ashe, very classy
also, i switched vaan from sword to katana, penelo from dagger to pole, basch from sword to axe+hammer [well change till i get the heavy sword]
i put spear as a backup for barthiel and crossbow for fran…..
well i am very basic, dont like to change a lot, just stick whith what i have

add some cat ears or genji gloves and you have the perfect combo
there are a few ways. you can gain magic power through mystic armors, and you can increase your magic potency through the license board. i am not sure if the magic potency actually works, but it seemed to have an effect with mine
