The story was great up until after you beat Judge Bergan, at least thats when it kind of slowed down for me. It picked up again for a second at that Hunter camp on the Phon Coast with that little snippet of Doctor Cid being Balthier’s dad, and the Rasler/Ashe balcony flashback. Then it slowed down again until you meet Reddas for the first time. But the amount of detail that went into this game astounds me. No stone (except for a bit of story) was left unturned: every area looked unique and highly detailed, as did the main characters and NPCs (who looked more alive than any NPCs I’ve seen in any game ever). The character AI for the Gambits was flawless and extremely helpful, and the customization was amazing (you could build any character however the hell you wanted to, and you could still progress in the game no matter what combination of skills and stuff you put together. I should also add that the voice acting was absolutely fantastic, SE really out-did themselves (but Marquis Ondore’s voice was kind of wierd…Indo-British…what a random combination of languages).
So overall, I really liked it and am looking forward to Revenant Wings 🙂
PS~I’m new here so…hiya 😀
For Gilgamesh… I think my characters were at that level too… Fighting the enemies in the area before the 2nd battle with gilgamesh can be painful. But Gilgamesh and Enkidou are not that hard… Plus, before fighting them… You will find a crystal which will help you recover your wounds… Finish Enkidou first and the battle will be easier… Good luck!!! If you still can’t Beat that ‘Bastard’… Fix your Gambits…
Ive not finished with it yet though, and will most probably play through it again, maybe in active and using the gambits alot more, and maybe again when i have a guide.
Wow that’s really crazy. Must be powerleveling and skipping all cutscenes???
I did MAYBE 10 hours of side quests and I was at 68 hours at the top of the tower at ridorana (so like 2-3 hours after that I could have finished if I’d wanted), and level 45ish. I feel like I went pretty fast but I guess not!
Haha are you talkin about the same game here?
Anyway, yeah. Beat the game. I enjoyed FFXII. Wonderful plot. No love triangle? Who cares? Haven’t we all had enough of the damn love-triangles? Personally, the ending for this game reminded me a lot of the one for IX and also somewhat of the one for V.
I thought it was an interesting stylistic choice to have Penelo reading her letter over the vocal song. And very intriguing instrumental choices for the closing credits music.
And Balthier and Fran are great together. Good on Fran — escaping from that Viera hell-hole, taking a chance and finding romance. 🙂
Have we ever actually had a love triangle in an FF game? The closest I can think of is in FFVII and any notions of love in that game were downplayed to say the least.
Cecil/Rosa/Kain in FF4 is the major one. That was the first FF game that used love as a major part of the plot. Then there is FF7 as mentioned… FF6 had character plots with romantic elements but they weren’t triangles (unless you count Locke/Rachel/Celes but I don’t know if you can have a love triangle with a dead person >.> ).
If you still can’t Beat that ‘Bastard’… Fix your Gambits…i was on level 99 when i beat the game.
There is no way on earth it’s 20 hours.
I heard it was 50 minimum without quests, 80 with them.
