Not to mention it’s not even expensive to begin with.
^____^
My cousin in the philippines bought x-2 before he’d even played ffx—and he said it was crap. I got what he was saying, but he hadn’t played ffx before so the story didn’t make sense to him.
And he’s also an idiot.
The point is, if you’re absolutely dying to find out what happens to Tidus, and you are willing to deal with loads of minigames and a strange plot, then x-2 is your game.
If not, then there’s not much else I can say.
Personally, I thought the game was great, but it can’t compare to ffx.
Seriously i hated everything about this game, except for the battle system. Many times i found myself wondering "why am i going through this? I’m not having fun. I don’t have any sympathy for the characters im playing. This whole funky poppy atmosphere is just TOO much for me to take. Why am I playing this game?"
But then, i read you guys’ posts and I understand what you see in game, why you like it and why I couldn’t. I won’t say it’s a bad game, I just don’t like it. I’ll say it’s pretty much like early Jeunet’s movies: you love it or you hate it. You just need to be able to really get into it. I couldn’t.
Paine is wicked. Rikku is stupid or teenie-bopper or both. Yuna is too happy seeing as Tidus is gone (must be rooting Brother or something)
Oh yeah, Brother is the best. Gets all the best lines and makes me lol.
Get it. You’ll be sorry if you don’t.
Not to mention it’s not even expensive to begin with.

But some people agree and some disagree as to whether or not FFX versions of the characters is better.
I just like the FFX versions better. This in no way reflects my opinion of the game. That said though, there are aspects of every game that people find to pick about, and X-2 is no exception.
People need to just play it and enjoy it for what it is, and stop comparing it to other games.
And the irony is that Spira still tries to make Yuna a sacrificial lamb in X-2. Once again she’s called to pull everyone’s fat out of the fire. I’m surprised she didn’t tell everyone to "Solve your own damn problems!" (Well, I think she tried but wasn’t to firm in delivering the message) In FFX, it was Yevonites who were pricks. In X-2, it seemed the rest of planet became pricks. . .and some more than others.
Too bad Rikku’s idiot brother, Brother, was hitting on same cousin. . .HELLO! FIRST COUSINS. . .oh, wait, ‘Japan’. . .never mind.:o
X-2 was a throwback to the pop idol anime of the early 90’s.(Original Bubble Gum Crisis for example.) Plenty of T&A and action.
But i do like this game very much. Anyone who’s played this would want to recommend this to everyone too!!!
… … … … …
Overall, I’d say buy it, but don’t compare it to other Final Fantasies. If you do, you won’t be able to enjoy it as much because you’ll be critiquing the entire time, sapping the fun out of the game. Looking at it the opposite way, if you go into it thinking that it’s going to be something completely different, just a silly, fun follow-up to a phenomenal game, you’ll notice all the ways in which it really does feel like a Final Fantasy and indeed deserves its place right up there with all the other FF greats.
-Leah.
I was looking forward to it and I was happy.
But It may not satify all FF fans if they are expecting the same…
It might make you longer and harder than FFX. =)
Jump off a cliff please.
It’s fast-paced, following a newly designed version of the ATB system, and is a lot of fun.
It just…was a bit embarrassing at first, how "girl-power-ish" it was….
If you can withstand that, I’m sure you’ll have fun. =]
You all are right when you say I need to judge the game on its own, but the game does carry the FF series name. And there are certain expectations that come from being a part of the FF series. So the game should also be judged by how well it meets those expectations.
It would have killed me if the game was an exact duplicate of X, there wouldn’t have been a reason to play it. But the changes made fell flat of what I expect from a FF game. Slapping the FF label on it was a mistake, and it should have stood alone (which being a sequel to X, they couldn’t make it stand alone, but if you want me to judge it apart from the rest of the series then you would have to remove the FF name).
i can’t enjoy ANY game that isn’t well crafted, unfortunetly x-2 failed to impress me what so ever.
Name a few that are "well-crafted" in your opinion and I’m sure we can find some substantial flaws.
I like LOD ingenius battle mechanic. It’s pretty mediocre though FFX-2 was good I expected a story that was remotely close to X, but it was still good on it’s own.
i think i’m done defending my stance that x-2 sucks. you all obviously have hard on’s for the games all teenage female characters. have fun pushing your face up next to the TV screen so you can hopefully get a peak up their skirts.
Now where was that posted?
Congratulations on being a complete and total failure.
1. Misses many of the FF series mainstays, "big guns", big magic, character development
2. The dresspheres did not match character development with story development. Example: I would have liked to have been forced to be a particular dress sphere in order to fight and win a boss battle. Then the cut scene would show me in that dressphere and my personality would be dictated by my dress. It would have created a much more interesting stroy and maybe even some interesting plot twists. However, what did happen was this: I’d use Dark Knight dress and the cut scene would be normal me. So when did I switch out of it? I think this games story should be have incorporated my character’s dress changes. I mean, why did I change dresses at all then?
3. Lack of different party members. Same three+Different clothes=lame. If I wanted to play dress up I’d buy a Barbie Game.
4. Atmosphere was too "bubbly". I get the fact it is post war and everyone is happy and giggly, but give me a break, FF usually has a dark/sinister side and this totally lacked that. If you like "bubbly", then good for you. I don’t.
5. I thought the technology shown in the game did not correspond to the technology in FFX. I know minor, but if it is a sequel than make sure they match. How can the technology magicly become futuristic in just a couple of years.
6. Card game was cool, helped obtain items and weapons. I’m not a card player person, but this was one thing I did like to do in the game.
7. The game did not make me feel like my characters were in jeopardy. I really didn’t care what happened to them like I did in FFX.
8. The game itself lacked challenge. It was too easy.
o.k, now you can go back to beating off to the x-2 girls. hey, maybe if you tape the game as you play it, you can then put it in slow motion to watch them change their clothes. you may even get to see a titty

1. The recent FF installments have had problems with character development.
2. Character and story development do not mean a change of clothes.
3. I’d rather have 3 party members that could change jobs over 6 or 9 that could all do the same thing, at least it saves me the time of switching out party members just to level them up.
4. The atmosphere was "bubbly" because the main party was all girls.
What do you mean by sinister? The last real villain was Kefka. Sephiroth was a wuss that hid under his mom’s skirt, Kuja really wasn’t all that sinister, Seymour was bisexual, and Vayne looks like he’s on morphine.
5. The Al Bhed had the technology from to begin with, if you remember the events of FFX.
6. None of the recent FF games posed what I’d call a challenge.

1. Ok so guns make a bad game? Or are you mad that S-E doesn’t "stick to their roots?" if FF stuck to their roots there would be nothing but shitty little FFI spinoffs. Also I don’t remeber guns in FF1-6 do you guys?
2. Wow so battle and story aren’t merged at the hip my god Burn it burn it to hell. What FF has had the battle mechanics directly related to the storyline, I mean you couldn’t use every character. So by your definition FF5 is a bad game aswell?
3. Oh wow for a person who so claims to love FFs roots so much you shouldknow that FFI or was It FFII had the same 4 people all time around, and you couldn’t change, aswell as FFV which you only change chars. once, and if you have umm 16+ different jobs why would you need more people?
4. Wow what are you an emo, you only feel happy when the world is distraught?
5. If you actually played FFX all the way you wuld remember the Al Bhed never stopped making Machina. That’s why after Yu Yevon was defeated all machinas were spread throughout the land.
6. What card game? You mean Sphere break? It’s simple mathematics not even. It’s LCM or is it GCM, or is it just common multiple sorry it’s a been a while.
7. So because you didn’t care if Fictional characters lives were in peril you saw the game as bad? Wow this is possibly the worst ‘proof’ I’ve ever seen.
8. You obviously didn’t do all side missions, or go into ummm…. dammit forgot the name of Bevelle’s Underground Labyrinth.
I fully justified everything I said, thank you very much. If you’ll notice, people who played that game completely had no defense for several of my complaints. That’s because I know what actually defines quality and can express it competently. As you cannot reasonably make those claims, your credibility is the one in the toilet.
1. Misses many of the FF series mainstays, "big guns", big magic, character development
Okay, right here, you’ve already flushed the vast majority of any credibility you stood to gain from this. Big guns? What the fuck is that supposed to mean? If you mean it literally, I do not even need to reply, as you’ve dug your own grave. As for magic, pretty much all the usual spells are present, so you have no ground to stand on there. And as for character development, you’re an utter fool for that claim. X-2 had an enormous amount of character development, particularly centered around Yuna. I can further elaborate if you wish to be utterly destroyed, but you would do well to look around the forum for a taste of what you’d be in for.
I think this games story should be have incorporated my character’s dress changes. I mean, why did I change dresses at all then?
That’s not a flaw, you ignorant cunt. That’s your own little pipe dream. It’s nothing more than an ideal that would have been utterly impossible to implement as it would have at least doubled the game’s development period and wouldn’t have been feasible anyway due to disc space restrictions.
3. Lack of different party members. Same three+Different clothes=lame. If I wanted to play dress up I’d buy a Barbie Game.
Look at the original games, you fucking dunce. It wasn’t until FFVI that you had any freedom about who was in the party. By the same token, you’re also condemning FFIII and FFV, both of which also had job systems.
And anyway, that’s not a flaw at all. It’s merely you expecting something different and being disappointed because it wasn’t the way you had hoped. Guess what, games aren’t designed specifically to suit your ego.
4. Atmosphere was too "bubbly". I get the fact it is post war and everyone is happy and giggly, but give me a break, FF usually has a dark/sinister side and this totally lacked that. If you like "bubbly", then good for you. I don’t.
Again, this isn’t an argument in favor of the game being bad. It’s just a comment about why you didn’t like it. You’re batting zero so far.
5. I thought the technology shown in the game did not correspond to the technology in FFX. I know minor, but if it is a sequel than make sure they match. How can the technology magicly become futuristic in just a couple of years.
Because futuristic technology already existed, but had been actively suppressed. Did you pay attention to the first game at all?
6. Card game was cool, helped obtain items and weapons. I’m not a card player person, but this was one thing I did like to do in the game.
You are an incredible dunce. There was no card game in FFX-2. Even your praise is moronic!
7. The game did not make me feel like my characters were in jeopardy. I really didn’t care what happened to them like I did in FFX.
Again, your own expectations and NOT a valid criticism of any element of actual quality.
8. The game itself lacked challenge. It was too easy.
Granted, but every one of the PSX/PS2 era games has been that way, so that’s not much of a complaint unless you want to bash the entire series.
o.k, now you can go back to beating off to the x-2 girls. hey, maybe if you tape the game as you play it, you can then put it in slow motion to watch them change their clothes. you may even get to see a titty
You don’t just have your mind in the gutter, do you? You’ve also ground it in with a muddy boot and pissed on it.
.. what?
i didn’t care for final fantasy x-2 much but i guess it was an ok game. so go for it.
Roffle. What was your first clue?
Basically sums up how I feel about his ability to form statements. I don’t hate kilgore…I detest his inability to have an intelligent argument.
dont anyone click on that. its been reported and will be dealt with.
Agent0042: And it’s been dealt with by me. Thanks.
it’ll fuck up your comp big time though, so be warned.
nice job dumbass
buy both! so you will have a strong emotional connection to Yuna.
Before you get everyone in the thread up in arms over a harmless link, you should think before you say things, as your last post proved you were being a bit over-dramatic when you called me a "total dick" (don’t have one, thanks) and a "dumbass".
Thank you.

"Fuck you, your opinion is different than mine!"
"No, fuck YOU, your opinion is different than MINE!"
"Your critisms aren’t valid, they’re just opinions!"
"No they are valid, your critisms aren’t valid!"
FFX and FFX-2 arent comparable. Two totally different types of games.
buy it tho, I’m sure its cheap now anyway!!!
years later: i saw it for 2 pounds about 4 months back,pre-owned,no case just disc and manual now it rests in a 2 disc box with FFX,ive hardly played it much,i cant say i enjoy, though i dobut ill give it back now
So yeah, 2/3 ain’t bad.
