FF5 Leveling Up, Omega and Shinryu *spoilers*

I just beat the game, and now I am trying to beat Omega and Shinryu.
I need to know a few things if you can help.

1.Where’s a good place to train and gain EXP?

2.What are some tips for beating them both?

Oh…you weren’t supposed to beat Omega before you beat the game? 🙁

Darn, it took so much effort doing that…and I still haven’t beaten the game.

I have a tip for fighting Omega…use bards. THREE of them. Use that song that stops the movement of enemies (don’t know the American name ’cause I used the Japanese version), ESPECIALLY just before you do a big attack. Yeah, they work on him, though they don’t last long. That way, he won’t retaliate with his god-horrible super-deadly attacks.

Also, he’s weak against lightning, though he has a reflective shield and a high magical defense.

Though he dodges lots of physical attacks, I found that the chicken knife (yeah, that awesome weapon which gets stronger as you run away) seems to never miss. AND it’s very strong…especially if you’ve run away a lot.

Ah, I gave too much advice there already….

FFV level up is a bitch. I don’t think I bothered getting my characters in that game past 40 or 50. There’s just no reason to higher than that. Ever. I can’t imagine training characters in that game to 99.

Oh, a standard strategy for fighting Shinryu is to double-equip a lance that you can sometimes steal from the Crystals (not sure of the exact name, I think it might simply be crystal), and then just jump. Should kill him almost instantly. If you need more exact details, I can try to check it.

Were they not in FFV for the PS1?

No, I never encountered anything like that. Those are definitely FFV Advance only bonus stuff, just like the new job classes.

I BET not…I’ve played all other Advance FF Classic remakes, and those enemies that are advanced forms of original powerful bosses, well…usually are brand-new. I’ve seen Square throw in quite a few powerful bosses and dungeons just for some extra entertainment. I’ve heard that they also threw in four extra jobs in FFV Advance….

Ah, thats right.
Its a lot of fun to try out the new job classes!

I just got FF Anthology, and will be starting in on FFV soon. I am very fluent in level building, and I actually have more oppurtunity to build levels than to get stuck in dungeons that require hours of working-through. Should I follow my usual tactic of building levels to strengthen my character(s), or just try to get through the game as quickly as possible?

There was one leveling trick in particular that I recall being particularly useful. When you get to the second world, there’s a sealed castle you can access. This castle will become particularly important later in the game, but for now, there’s not much you can do there. There is, however, a dragon there called Shield Dragon that you can encounter in random battle. It’s pretty much impossible to beat fairly at the levels you’ll probably be at, however, you can use the Control ability on it. (Offhand, I think you learn that from the Trainer job.) If you can get that to work, then it has a flame attack you can make it use on itself. It does 4999 damage each time and after a few hits, the dragon goes down and you get some nice EXP and AP. After a little while, the returns start to diminish, but it’s generally a good trick when it first becomes available.

Near the last boss the monsters give you loads of AP I think. I never thought much of the dragon killing strategy agent tbh. In the north west I think there was a place that gave easier AP. Its a small lake you can land in. You get a good bit from monsters there and its not nearly as much work.
