And Mii reminds me a lot like the Sims. Who wants to add to this chain?

Anyway, I like the fact that you can share all the content like movies, music, etc and jump into games. That’s pretty cool.

Thats finally some good news for the Playstation 3.

It looks cool nice the fact its free. Basically it looks like a PS3 Forum. While I may not use it when I get my PS3 later down the line its nice that if I ever feel like chatting I can easily enough.

PlayStation Home is a blatant rip-off of Nintendo’s Mii Parade and Xbox 360 Achievements. Anything else like ‘SONY IS PLANNING ALL ALONG!’ is just as bullshit as the ‘Sixaxis had motion control all along’ claims.

BUT…

I actually think that Home has the potential to be better than both of the things that it’s ripping off. Some things remain to be seen – mainly, Miis work in Wii games because Wii game graphics aren’t that advanced. No matter the customization available in your Home avatar, it probably won’t look that good in gorgeous HD PS3 games.

As for Achievements, it’s kinda broken because there are PS3 games like Resistance out already that don’t have achievements – but I suppose you could patch those games, or just acknowledge them as an earlier generation. I do really like the idea of a virtual trophy room – it appeals to me more than a generic number, considering that i’m the sort of person who doesn’t try to get 1000(G) in every game. (As you can see from my signature – I have a tonne of games, and only that many GamerScore points).

Up until now, I had planned to buy all cross-platform games (Prince of Persia, Unreal Tournament III et al.) on the Xbox 360, because of Achievements. But now it will be back to which version is ‘better’.

This seems okay, but it’s probably not going to factor into which of the 360/PS3 that I get.

Suikoden VI will be what matters.

Because Suikoden > Everybody.

But, I cannot deny that it looks far more promising than anything the other consoles have. I mean, I don’t know much about Xbox’s Achievments or whatever but it certainly isn’t nearly as developed.
I wouldn’t call it a ripoff of Miis because they’re different things – Miis are far superior to this for what their purpose is, but Mii parade got horribly butchered by Nintendo’s asinine decision to make Mii parade friend-code only. Even then, it completley lacks interactivity, which Home seems to have.

If it turns out well, good for Sony.

If I were to get a second console this gen, I was previously leaning heavily towards the 360. Now, if Sony could do more interesting, non-shitty things like this then I might lean towards the PS3… though of course, ultimately, it’s the games that make me decide which to get.

all of these things seems stupid to me. is social interaction within a game really that "awesome"? O_o go play an mmo or something. -_-

but i could see myself having fun with the emotes though. hehe. i like messing with shit like that. and i’d prolly go in there to annoy peeps too. and make a tshirt with a hentai chick on it. and and… run around naked! and…. make a club where only anime fans can join.

i should prolly do that irl instead. seems more fun.

Hahaha! I might get a PS3 for this! It looks pretty cool! Not only is it a place to look for other players, but also to meet other gamers like you and have the freedom to do whatever you want. I’m not a big fan of the 360 anyways and I’m getting a Wii soon. So maybe I might consider getting a PS3. Besides, the graphics look cool, and maybe by the time I decide to get a PS3, there will be more good games.

Home seems to be another washed-up simulation that unfortunately has piqued my interests. I’m ashamed to admit that you have no idea.

This Home thing sounds like a clever ruse to pocket some extra cash on the side, only I’d question if I’d pay money for a few of those things. I’m not going to worry about it though, as I have neither plans or ability to get a PS3 for myself for the time being.

At least I hope so. Making the public pay extra for basic communications after dropping all the money on the PS3 in the first place would suck.
