My psp has gone largely unused and unfortunately for me the Seiken series is headed for the DS, I thought that the psp and ps3 showed hell potential, only to be lacking in content. I understand it is only early days but I dread the thought of losing such a gaming icon, anyone else have fear for Sony?
As a brand PS has built quite strong rapport with me, I switched platforms due to the overwhelming amount of RPG’s that flourished on the system, the games felt huge and the gameplay was revolutionary for its day – why is it that my love affair with PS suddenly died?
does anyone else want to see sony survive?

You are a fucking moron.
There is really no need to bother responding to any of this, read the previous threads on the PS3 and Sony in this forum.

What has that got to do with the discussion in ANY way at all?
Considering that Twilight Princess had close to a 1-to-1 attach rate with the Wii, which is vastly outselling the PS3, how are games like Resistance and Motorstorm selling?
Third party Wii games aren’t selling ‘well’ (still in the hundreds of thousands of copies – which is nothing to shake a stick at), because they have to compete with the two big ones at the top. Now, I love my Rayman Raving Rabbids, but given a choice between it and Twilight Princess, I know which one i’d choose.
So seriously, unless you’re going to contribute to a discussion instead of trying to bag out another console and failing, stay out of any console-war thread =/

Maybe you should tell that to Vala… Oh, wait, maybe you don’t realize you already did.
So back to the topic since Raidenex always knows how to stray from it through using me as a scapegoat, You have to remember Vala that the cost of game development has skyrocketed. 3rd party software makers need to sell across all platforms just to make a profit. But since S-E has prided themselves on making the next FF game as HUGE as possible, Sony would naturally be there first choice. They have an opportunity to store FFXIII on up to a 50GB BD. The DS is huge which would make it a profit maker for them so they can stay in business. Since FFVII, they have also had support for PC. It’s only smart business for S-E to sell on multi platforms and not stick to just one even if it has a larger install base.
Oh, and for your information Raidenex, the previous post I made was actually a quote from a proud Wii owner (http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=revolution&message.id=3367264). Not a supposed, bias PS3 owner.

Oh look, you’re trying to be a self-righteous smartarse again.
For starters, do you even know what ‘lack of third party support’ means? It means that developers aren’t making games for your console, because it doesn’t have a large enough install base. Like Eidos, who aren’t even going to think about developing for the PS3 until it manages to sell more units.
The reason the other Wii games aren’t selling astronomical numbers like Wii Sports (pack-in) and Twilight Princess (well, Zelda) is because they simply aren’t that good. Now, I think the Wii is a fantastic console, and the Rayman/WarioWare/WiiSports trio makes for one hell of a good time at a party, but the only good game is Twilight Princess. Everything else has been pretty poor.
Basically, that list proves nothing. It has no relation to your point, and you somehow thought that pulling out a list showing the Wii’s astronomical sales was showing it had ‘no third party support’.
And the topic is about Sony failing hard, not ‘lol prices have skyrocketed’. Just because there are some rabid fanboys like you out there doesn’t mean that the rest of the world hasn’t realised that at the moment, the PS3 isn’t anything special. For most people, unrealised potential isn’t a selling point.
Still, i’m not saying the PS3 isn’t going to reach a successful level of sales. Once Metal Gear Solid 4 drops, I think the sales all around the world are going to skyrocket; I know that’s when i’ll be getting mine.
The simple fact of the matter is, the PlayStation 3, AT THIS POINT IN TIME, is a complete waste of money. Better to wait for good games (and a lower price point) to show itself.
And no, it’s not alone in this; the Xbox 360’s only saving grace on launch was Oblivion, which was available on the PC. Oblivion still has the most playtime out of any of my 360 games (even more now, thanks to Shivering Isles). It wasn’t until games like Dead Rising and Gears of War dropped that it was worth the asking price.
Don’t get me wrong, from the reviews i’ve read of Resistance, it’s good – better than Perfect Dark Zero, at least (not that that takes much) – but it’s not better than Gears of War. Not to mention it doesn’t look as good.
Over a thousand bucks for a console with two ok games on launch is not a good thing. Now, if Sony releases a $999 pack later this year with MGS4 included as a pack in, THAT i’ll buy.
Idiot.
You should probably read my post.
Sure, Wii third party titles aren’t selling as many copies as Nintendo titles. But that has nothing to the do with the PS3 – you’ll probably find that most of these ‘poorly selling’ titles are still outselling PS3 titles by a comfortable margin.
The sales figures are JUST from the US. In the US, the PS3 came out a couple days before the Wii.
and how anyone could become emotionally attached to a faceless company like Sony is far beyond me. They have no style or personality of their own, and all the games that sell people on their systems are made by other companies. Why would you care what system the other companies make the games for? the games will be the same.
I was hoping square would be madly pursuing the psp platform, typically before the launch of the next generation consoles I geared myself towards the ps3 having purchased the psp, I figured I was future proofing any advanced interactivity that is supposed to enhance games but now my concern is that if I invest with sony will my preferred game series and genres support the Ps3 or leave it dead in the water
Basically I dont want my money wasted.
Unless Eidos manages to drag the script writer for the Legacy of Kain games back to work, I’m not going to be interested in any of their games, either.
Hell, if I wasn’t so excited for Pokemon Battle Revolution and some other games like SSBB, as well as the fact that I never had a GCN so I can use it as one, I would regret having bought the Wii when it launched.
I don’t know where you’re at, but we already have that. I have WipeOut and Crash Bandicoot on my PSP.
I find you post quite irrelevant.
Umm. What?
I think you must have somehow misunderstood what I said, though I have absolutely no idea how. Here is my point: Since none of the games people love on Sony’s systems are made by sony, there is no reason to be attached to them. There will continue to be Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid and whatnot regardless of what system it is on. So who cares.
I have Vagrant Story, Crash Bandicoot 1-3 and Gran Turismo 2 on my PSP.
Without using a PS3, and without having to pay for something I already own, again.

And yet you probably had to pay for it through the price of your memory stick.
Nice comeback.
And Ultimadream, it’s called homebrew. You’d hate it, because Sony hates it. And it involves hax0ring your PSP omg.
regarding the homebrew, again a nice option to have and I think there is great merit in the homebrew scene however due to my prudish nature I dont want to risk fucking my psp – I am not rolling in doe and would rather a working dust gathering psp than a dust gathering paperweight.
Edit:
An appealing feature would being able to download psone titles which never seen release here originally in Australia (listening sony?)
Still hopefully by the time it goes down there’ll be plenty more quality titles out for it.
This won’t stop me buying a PS3 if they do win the CONSOLE WARZ, tho.

That’s funny, because my PS2 I got at the US launch back when they came out is still going strong and the only thing I’ve ever had to do "maintenance" wise was blow the dust out of the fan blades once about a year ago after letting it set up for a long time without playing it cos busy at work.
I’ll check next time I see my cousin and see if it is still working or not, but I’m pretty sure its still going after I gave it to him for Christmas because he wanted one (he’s 9 and I haven’t played any games in about six months).
The same thing’s happened with my Playstation 2 as well. It’ll play certain games but with my older one’s I keep getting a "disc error" message come up every time. At first a dvd cleaner managed to sort the problem out each time this happened, but lately that’s not been working.
From what I’ve read about this on the internet, I understand that it’s a pretty common problem with the Playstation 2 consoles – though from the sounds of things there’s also a number of the machines which happen to be alot more reliable.
Though I will say that when our GameCube stopped recognizing games, Nintendo was truly amazing about it—the warranty was up, but they replaced it for free anyway. Nintendo is pretty cool about stuff like that. I read a story on another forum once from a guy whose Game Boy stopped working, and he sent it away to them and not only did they fix it free of charge, they even put in a fresh set of batteries. That was many years ago though.
It makes sense to operate that way though. Happy customers means they’ll buy your next system and as we all know the money is made on software sales.
