I’ve always noticed something that never seems to get referenced.
In the Treno Auction House, if you walk all the way up to the front, near the podium and up either of the side steps, you can get a nice view of the painting hanging in the Auction House. It hangs on the back wall and I’ve always seemed to pick out Squall (on the bottom right) and possible Seifer (top left) and either Rinoa or Edea in the center. I’ve even gone as far as to believe that Zell is in there as well (way bottom left corner).
I wonder if anyone else has taken notice of this?
Squall’s the only real definite that I see in the painting, btw. The others might just be my overactive imagination at work.
:O Never noticed the painting.
I’ll go check!
It’s a pretty cool painting anyway, even if it turns out there are no references.
Hmm, mm, maybe. To me, Seifer actually seems like the most likely one. I’m having trouble figuring out the Squall and I’m not sure I can make out Edea/Rinoa at all. You are talking about the artwork that’s directly behind the auctioneer, right?
First off, thanks for looking! And yes, I am talking about the one right behind the auctioneer.
Are you seeing a Seifer figure in the center of the painting? Because I think that’s where I can faintly make him out.
Squall is on the bottom right if I remember correctly. He was the most obvious to me because there’s a dark clothed figure with a bright white collar. I think he’s kneeling, or looking up? I don’t recall him standing.
I think I only placed Edea/Rinoa in the picture because there’s a figure in the top left corner with what appears to be long, dark hair. Sort of reaching towards the Seifer figure in the center.
I really have to review it again. I’m at work right now, so it’s hard for me to remember where everything was placed. Maybe when I get home I’ll turn the game on and return to Treno for another look.
Pretty vague way for Square to put a reference in though.
Clearly I was a bit off on my description of who was where, haha.
I see Squall, Zell and that possible Quistis (which I NEVER thought about before, so thanks for that Ceidwad) which everyone has pointed out before. I can still make out a Seifer in the center. It looks like Squall is reaching out to him with his left arm. Seifer seems to be floating in the center, looking towards the top left corner, with his right arm being pulled upwards, and the left side of his body leaning downward.
It brings Michelangelo’s "Last Judgement" painting to mind. If you haven’t seen it before, check out Michelangelo’s famous painting here:
See how they both have dark scenery at the bottom? Yet, at the top the paintings are mainly light. Also, just look at how Seifer (or whoever it is in the center) is dressed. Then look at how Jesus is dressed in the "Last Judgement".
I’m not stating solid facts, merely giving you all something to ponder. Personally, I absolutely love this little gem that I found in FFIX!
