The style is incredible (like a mix between Star Wars and your typical anime-style RPG), the story and characters are great, and the gameplay is really fun.
Anybody else play this yet?
i went to game faqs, and it was saying that it was for the japanese version it said there’s 9 floors,.i got to the thrown room,i’m guessing on floor 8,cause it was 1 up from 7,beat the boss fight, and it still wasn’t over, but there’s nowhere else to go,but a couple unaccessable locations on the map, gaps i can’t cross, and rooms i need to get to,but have concrete pillars blocking, they look like jail bars,.
it also said, that the bridge connecting the towers with the shop on it,was on the 4th floor, when it’s on floor 3,.i was at a loss,so i went off to get the other 2 pieces,.
also,it said how to get the sacred chalice (like i should trust it) it’s a hidden special item, does this,or the sacred book that i bought do any good for you, other than a higher completion on your total?or do they just look pretty in your menu?
also,is in vedan, after you get the ‘key piece’ on your way out, there’s a kid near the exit, that tells you,he found the heart of something, near moriarty’s body, after you killed him,.but got freaked, and threw it in a dumpster downtown,.i checked every dumpster i found, combed that place, room by room,.and only found a stupid dirty sock (lol),.does anyone have more precise
directions?or is there something i need to do 1st? by the way,i tried hunting the monster there, but didn’t have the lipstick to lure him out,any suggestions on a good location? or beasts likely to drop it?,…after finally figuring out the factory system,i produced the elixer, that cures your parties hp & ap,.but it wouldn’t lure out the beast on the 7th floor connecting bridge of the 2 towers,.any suggestions?it says i need a remedy, that fills 100% of whole crews hp & ap,.i’ve put in so much time in the game thus far,all my people are at lv 55 at least,.and i’m ranked # 7 on the hunter’s list,.
~thank you for any advise i can get
If i am wrong though i would like for some one 2 informe me on how it works or to what it compares.
I’m under 20 hours into the game and the fierce lady has one where she shoots a flaming arrow at people, it’s cool. 😀

Remember to put your spoilers up :notgood:
i’m stuck on the ‘two towers’ mission, i have the other 2 ‘key pieces’,.

Whatever tower you started out in, do the opposite. You have to do them both.
SPOILERS END HERE
it’s a moderate rpg (my viewpoint)
Aside from that tho…I really have no problems with it. I really still enjoy it enough to keep playing it. I’d have to say that out of Tales of the Abyss, Odin Sphere, and Rogue Galaxy…I enjoyed Galaxy the most so far.
BTW: I regret buying Odin Sphere.
But I don’t regret playing it. Not the beginning anyway. Because it was good. Then.
Similar, but different. It’s a solid game, which starts out fairly easy enough (As all RPG’s go), and being able to go to other worlds and interact with NPC’s there is nice.
Being able to combine your weapons and armour and create new versions is a nice touch too. The possibilities for combination are pretty vast, and generate some nice outcomes.
Gameplay wise, I admit I found it similar to the gameplay of Star Ocean Til The End of Time, and even Skies of Arcadia.
All in all, I enjoyed playing it and most probably would still be playing it, but I got my 360 back from being repaired, and N3 has taken my attention 🙂 .
I’ll go back to this game and have another crack at it eventually.
I thought so, too. In what ways do you find the gameplay similar to that of Skies of Arcadia?
I was hoping to finally play a decent RPG on my PS2 after having gone through the disappointing Wild Arms 4 and Grandia III, both of which I had high expectations for due to the second installment in both series. Sadly, I was disappointed yet again with Rogue Galaxy.
The beginning started off pretty well with Jaster, but the combat soon became stale. I was determined to complete that "monster list" at first but the time needed to find and defeat a certain amount of enemies became not worth the effort after a few levels. I found none of the characters particularly interesting, so that just added to the boredom of the game as a whole.
Like for WA4 and G3, I did force my way through Rogue Galaxy just to say I beat it. Those three games have taught me not to have expectations for any game, even though, in retrospect, it was foolish to expect a second Skies of Arcadia in Rogue Galaxy.
I admit, I made my first judegment in regards to the game from reading an advertisement about it in one of my KOTOR comics. Not a reliable way to make any informed judgement on any game.

In regards to these two, Wild Arms, the original, I still play and enjoy. WAII never played and WAIII was just annoying but that’s just my opinion. Grandia and Grandia II were great games, and I’m still waiting for my local EB Games to get Grandia III in (I’m in Australia, and we have to wait ages for games).

There have been a lot of RPG’s, which have tried numerous ways to make the battle system interesting. The Addition’s system from Legend of Dragoon, Judegement Ring from the Shadow Hearts series, the action style battle system like in Star Ocean til the end of time and Rogue Galaxy, and then the tried and true system from FF series, BoF series etc.
SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS
Please be advised that the rest of this post may contain information which could be construed as spoilers. Hence this message.
Rogue Galaxy does have a few more things to it to try and grab the player and keep them interested. As Impulse mentioned, the Quarries list (Monster List). Completing all Quarries unlocks not just credits and a increase in the Hunter rankings, but also a new Costume for Lilika.
The Factory section at first seem interesting to me, but after trying to create new items and fail due to either incorrectly processed materials and such, I forgot about it. Of course, if you complete the Factory section a new costume for Steve is yours.
After finishing the game, a new dungeon appears, with 100 floors to go through. Completing this, earns you a pair of footwear for Kisala and a two piece swimsuit costume for her. Complete it a second time, to unlock a new costume for Simon.
The ability to fuse maxed weapons with other weapons to create a new one, at first seems very useful. However, to create these new weapons, you have to be careful how you go about it, as you may indeed create a new weapon which is more powerful, or you may create a weaker weapon. Completion of this ‘mini-task’ (I guess you can call it that… I s’pose.), earns a new costume for Zegram.
The Hunter ranking… you can increase your rank by either killing monsters in the Quarry listing (Available from Mio in the Galaxy Corporation on Zerard), or killing a large number of normal monsters (12, 20, 30 etc). Every certain amount of rank levels you go up, you get items to use during your adventure. And guess what! When you get to rank 1, beating Desert Claw, you get HIS costume for Jaster. WOW… Not!
What’s the purpose of the costumes? Well, the costumes do have a very minor affect to your defense, but in general all they do is allow you to have the characters wearing something spiffy looking. Of course, when you start the game again, you can carry over just the costumes to your new game.
All in all, imo Rogue Galaxy is a rather standard RPG. There are better games available just as there are worse. Basically, if you don’t want to fork over hard earned cash for a game you may or may not like, hire a copy of it out first and give it a play. That way you can decide whether or not you want to hand that money over for your own copy.
I have played neither the original Wild Arms nor the third, but I plan to eventually. Grandia II is one of my favorite games. I guess I’m not a fan of the original Grandia because Grandia II’s version of the battle system is much more polished. I also found the characters more likable, but to be fair I didn’t get too far into the original.
Since a lot of the rewards in RG were costumes for characters that I found totally uninteresting, the rewards for completing these tasks, for me, were obviously unsatisfying.
That 100-floor tower is ridiculously monotonous. How anyone can find it worth the time is beyond me.
Im at the last chapter and I may not get back to this one until i finish Uncharted – Drakes Fortune. All in all, a good purchase for $19.00
The only downside that I found was that battles became too easy – even without excessive leveling of each character, the special moves were too powerful and generally killed most normal enemies in one or two hits, and bosses were usually easy to deal with as well.
Still, I loved the atmosphere of the game; and each world was very interesting.
