I’m stuck in the UC with the original Mobile Suit Gundam (0079).
oh, by the way…Seig Zeon!
In the UC (Universal Century) there is (and this list I know is incomplete)
Mobile Suit Gundam (0079)
08th MS Team
MSG 0080
MSG 0083
MSG F91
Zeta
ZZ
Char’s Counter Attack
Victory
annnd I know there are a few more after and inbetween
The AU (Alternate Universe) contains
Wing Gundam
Seed
Seed Destiny
SD
G Gundam
and a few others
If you watch carefully and you know your UC history like I do, the entire Wing Gundam series is almost the entire UC timeline in a nutshell. MSG 0079 is about the EFSF vs. the Principality of Zeon (earth v space), the first part of Wing Gundam is the Earth vs. OZ (which is a space organization). Then in 0080, it shifts to the AEUG vs. Titans (EFSF factions against each other) and in Wing Gundam all of the main pilots start fighting for different people, which kinda act like the Titans. Stardust Memory (0083) the Delaz Fleet is the remnants of what is left of the old PoZ army led by LaGuille Delaz. The Delaz Fleet uses a superweapon known as the RX-78-2-GP0A-2 "Physalis" Unit, a Gundam the Federation constructed that violates the Antartic Treaty (no nuclear, chemical, biological weaponry, or colony drops) due to the mobile suit’s use of a Nuclear warhead in its hyper bazooka (though, as far as I know, it was never fired). The last part of the Wing Gundam has the OZ factions trying to regroup, but the major threat in space is the White Fang and their special weapon is the Libra battlestation (it wasn’t nuclear and it acted more like the Carbon Dioxide Laser the PoZ used during the first part of the One Year War). Endless Waltz skips a big part of the UC and models itself after Char’s Counterattack. Endless Waltz has a little girl as the supreme commander of an entire army and wages war against earth. Char’s Counterattack has Dozul Zabi’s daughter, Minerva, under the tutelege (sp) of the old Zeon ace pilot, Char Aznable (there was a bit of pedo-stuff goin on between the 15 year old Minerva and the almost 30 year old Char, but I don’t think the little girl in Endless Waltz was like that toward that old guy…) and Minerva wages war against the earth. In the end of both, the Earth wins and thats about it. god, I have no life…::laughs::
Followed by Wing, because it was the first Gundam I watched. My brother and I used to race home so we could watch toonami after school – which at the time included Gundam Wing xD
For the Alternate it would be, Wing, Turn A, and SEED. Personally didn’t like SEED DESTINY that much. As for the newest addition, Gundam 00-I’ll have to see to give my opinion on it

Good stuff, I think Sunrise got something good going for Gundam again.
Good stuff, I think Sunrise got something good going for Gundam again.
Hey Blaze, has 00 been onto the internet yet. PM me on that when you read this message.
But anyway, Seed is my favorite series mostly because it was the one Gundam series I could comprehend when it came out. Wing and the original were confusing when I was a kid.
2. Gundam Seed
3. Gundam Wing
08th MS Team (IMO) is probably the most realistic gundam series. it doesnt have any angsty teens or pacifists, its just straight in the dirt and mud mobile suit combat. the gundams arent super weapons and are just as vulnerable as cannon fodder, none of the pilots have psychic abilities that give them an edge, just pure skills, no buster rifles, no mega particle cannons, just machine gun slugs and beam sabers
0080…this is probably the most gut wrenching anime ive seen. Not just gundam series but anime period. instead of focusing on battles between gundams, it focuses on how the war affects civilians, namely civilians with a glorified look at war. For anyone that hasnt seen this, go see it. The ending will leave you heartwrenched…trust me
0083, reminded me so much of Top Gun (MY FAVORITE MOVIE), plus it had one thing that i think kills alot of gundam shows, pilots with no other abilities except piloting skill.
Gundam Seed has my favorite gundam of all time in it (ZGMF-X10A Freedom) and while it can seem angsty at times, the show is pretty good. Don’t bother watching Gundam Seed Destiny, that was a flop IMO.
Gundam Wing, aside from being badass when I first saw it on toonami some odd years ago, looking at it again, I see that it really is a good show. Its up here because without it, I probably wouldnt know jack about gundam
i’ve seen most of the others except SEED Destiny….I didnt much care for that one although I did like Char’s Counterattack
I’m right up there with you on that one.
The first time I saw a Gundam I liked was this manga series.
So far as the TV versions go, 08th MS Team gets my vote.
all 49 episodes always had some kind of mobile suit battle.
And i’ve always liked the Epyon Gundam.
The first time I saw a Gundam I liked was this manga series.

Yeah, I liked the Astray series as well. Was hoping that they’d turn it into a full series, but they only appeared in a small spin-off show called Gundam SEED MSV. It looked so awesome, but I wish they could’ve made it a much longer series.
I never really got to see much of Gundam Seed, but 08th ms team was another of my favorites, even though it only aired it a few times.
from other timelines i have to say Wing from the AC timeline is awesome, and from the first 4 eps, 00 is looking pretty cool.
not a fan of SeeD, Seed Destiny or G though.
Quoted for stupidity.
Never, EVER, expect to get away with using that "It was the first I saw, so it’s the best" line. I will call you on it every time because it’s absolutely fucking retarded. And in this case, completely wrong.
You’re entitled to your opinion, wrong as it may be, but you do not want to cross the line of calling me a liar.
If you’ve never seen anyone call it a bad series, you’ve never paid attention. The music is atrocious, and you have no ear for music if you can’t see that. The problem with the mech designs isn’t the level of detail, it’s the fact that half of them are completely fucking ridiculous.
If you don’t see these faults, then you’re not so much a Gundam fan as a Gundam Wing fan. I have no problem with that (even I like a couple shitty shows, although I’m smart enough to know they’re bad), but know what you are and act accordingly.
how is what i said stupid? what i said was true. you’re the one who was being an ass contracting aakaido opinion. its just an opinion man….let it go
2. I have just as much a right to challenge an opinion as someone else does to express it, so please fuck off with all possible haste.
3. Opinions can be dead wrong, and stupid opinions deserve mockery. If you don’t like it, fuck off.
For the record, I now consider my discussion with you closed. Any further communication between us in this thread will be considered spam, and I will edit/delete posts accordingly. If you want to rail at me, do it in a PM, which I will promptly post publicly to further mock you.
Can you actually give any proper reasons to back up these statements? So far you’ve given none to indicate how these are valid in any way, which gives the impression you’re defending the series just because you happen to like it.
Just because something happens to fit in with your personal tastes, doesn’t automatically define it as being of good quality. Unless you can back up your arguments with evidence that you’ve got at least some idea of what you’re talking about, you’re not going to be taken seriously.
In general, most of the Gundam series are really good.
I thought SD Gundam was cute. lol
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
By the way, does anyone have any infomation on Gundam Unicorn…?
I’d love to go see it :D. Of course I’m always up to see any new animes I haven’t had a taste of seeing ;).
Just out of sheer curiousity, but when was Gundam X released? If I remember correctly it was either the 80s or 90s and I’m especially up for seeing older animes (I preferably like the older ones like 90s or less).

I forget when it was released but it’s at least over 10 years old
I have never seen the one with the cross bones or the F91 series but i want to see them very much.
-Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
-Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
-Mobile Suit Gundam 0080:War In The Pocket
-Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
-Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
-Mobile Suit Gundam Wing~Endless Waltz~
-Mobile Suit Gundam Seed
-Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny
-Mobile Suit Gundam Seed MSV Astray

-Mobile Suit Gundam Seed C.E 73: Stargazer

Gundam X ran in 1996 – had animation comparable to Gundam Wing.
Was Astray a series? or just a manga? cause if its a anime i want to see it i read almost all the astray stuff. and endless waltz and wing are good but waltz is really a favorite
Astray was a predominately a series of manga publications along with an OVA that ran for two episodes.
Dendrobium FTW!!!
I’m stuck in the UC with the original Mobile Suit Gundam (0079).
oh, by the way…Seig Zeon!
Will always love Gundam Wing the most. 🙂
Wing mainly because it was my first series watched, it’s still so dark and complicated and the corny guitar scream soundtrack that somehow pwned and suited the series so well.
Zeta and ZZ gundam
Even though I was intruduced to the series with gundam wing I liked these two the most be cause of the plots and quality.
And has any one noticed how the two main protagonists from stardust memory look smiler to the main protagonists of the movie Top gun. Or is it just me.
(Of course I mean the male and female leads.)
Like they say everyone has an anime twin.
yup! satelite canon!
unfortunately the pilot is brat! I prefer the pilot like amuro or kamille
@topic
I like Wing Zero (not custom) most. When I’m playing SRW Hero has the highest number of kill. Twin Buster Rifle is IMBA.
@shadowtheman
Not to sound prissy, but thread revival is a big no no, considering how long ago the last post was (04-13-2008 06:52 PM) in comparison to yours (12-06-2009 04:52 PM). Next time, create a new thread.

As a general rule, this would be correct. However, since this is more of a post count +1 spam thread than a discussion thread, I’m fine with reviving it.
and its stuckd
I also really liked SEED when I first saw it in 2005, and still like it *cough*Cagalli*cough*. xD
this.
I really gotta watch other Gundams I haven’t watched yet…..
Sieg, Zeon!!
Second off, I have seen every single gundam series including Unicorn, but minus SD, G-Savior, Igloo, and 00 (hoping the work on 00 this summer). Brain cannot comprehend SD and Igloo just cannot stand it. So my gundam knowledge is there…may not be 100%, but at a reasonably high percentage.
@ aakaido: Gundam 0079 (original gundam) wasn’t hated on the way you made it sound. It was "hated" on so to speak because it came right after Wing, so us Americans didn’t know that not only that there were more than one gundam series out there, but they each follow their own or a different timeline. With that said, when Gundam 0079 came here right after Wing, we (regular americans) expected Gundam 0079 to be more like Wing and hell no it wasn’t, not at all. Not to mention comparing how Wing looked at the time in the 90’s and 0079 looked via 1979, 0079 looked awful thus viewers shunned away from it. Which is how toonami discovered/came up with their conclusion that younger generation do not like older animation. This is why we received Gundam Seed later on instead of Zeta Gundam for example.
@ Tom’s Toonami Tunes: Gundam ZZ, from what I’ve heard, Zeta was soo dark that Tomino had to bring in a younger audience literally and as we all seen in America and I’m sure in the UK, kids equal mega money. Thus is why we see it being more cartoony and kid-ish. But like I’m sure you have been told, halfway through, the old Tomino gets back into the game and we see Gundam starts to pick up and bring that dark tone back into the light.
I will say that besides G Gundam, I swear with ever fiber in my being that Toonami should have went with Gundam X. Because not only is it its own timeline, but also it (at the time) was/had the closest relationship with the UC timeline thus the transition from Gundam X to 0079 would have been more smoothly than the jump from Wing to 0079.
Lastly I said this once and I will continue to say it till the day I die, everyone, and I mean everyone who’s into mecha should see EVERY gundam series at least once. Minus G-Savior ’cause that’ just cruel and unusual punishment. Plain and simple, I say this because each and everyone of them is worth being looked at and hell yes I do mean ZZ included.
Are you people serious? Was I the only person here who actually disliked Gundam Wing when it came out lolol? AT THE TIME…I disliked it because…I don’t want to say I was too young, want to believe that I was around the same age as you guys, but I just couldn’t grasp it or follow it. Mainly I guess it had to do with the fact that I may have missed a couple of episodes so I didn’t know what has happened, maybe that had something to do it. I actually got hooked when 0079 showed, and I want to say the reason for me being so hooked was 0079 toy line. I want to say they had more variety in action figures with 0079 than Wing.
My Favorite series would have to be Gundam X. I loooove that series and Garrod + Tiffa has to be the second runners up after Domon and Rain regarding gundam couples. Second would be G Gundam, I just like it. It was fun, exciting, something new. Something fresh.
Well stated, my thing though if I was CEO and had to make a choice…my thinking is that (with g gundam aside) I’m looking for that transition of AU to UC thus is why I picked Gundam X in that sense. Funny you mentioned Ault Swim because if I recall, Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory first aired on it. Back in it’s early/beginning Saturday block.
Darkerangel and Tom’s Toonami Tunes: You want a dark Gundam series? Try watching V Gundam. The internet meme song "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor!" applies so aptly to that entire series. Well, it would if the bodies had a floor TO hit. *chuckle*
Favorite series, eh? Don’t really have one, to be honest. I like them all(at least the ones I’ve seen).
As far as games go, I still have a soft spot for Gundam 0079: Rise from the Ashes for the Dreamcast. Definitely gave you a real sense of what the MS pilots saw and went through during the war.
Any locations where I can see the older anime series that you guys are aware of? It’s been a while since I’ve seen a number of them, and I need to refresh my memory.

Right when I had 5 episodes left of Zeta I found out that both it and 0079 where avalable on banbai’s youtube channal as well as hulu but now it looks like they’ve been taken down. Try anime stop (http://anime-stop.webs.com/index.htm) it’s a dead site now but a lot of their links still work, I got Char’s Counter Attack just a few days ago from there. It looks like there’s some gundam on Rapid.org (http://rapid.org/board/showthread.php?t=97879&highlight=gundam) too but you’ll have to register. For me ZZ was a pain and I had to keep skipping from site to site with these 2 being teh only ones still up right now: http://watchanimenow.com/anime/mobile-suit-gundam-zz/

lol totally true, Victory is the darkest. I’ll message you.
If the sites are different than the ones I posted I wouldn’t mind those links too!
What am I? LinksRUs? lolol, jk. Sure.
You have to make at least 5 posts in order to message someone, it should work for you now. Jusat go to there public frofile and there will be a send message button on the top of the info thingy.
Shoot. Nope, still not seeing it.
ah shat ap
Muahah, I finally got it.
Yes or Mobile Suit Victory Gundam and yes. F91 was suppose to be a fresh series that’s in UC, but has no connection with the One Year War. But with money problems and I want to say people dropping out of the project, it was condensed into an hour-ish movie. I also want to say the fight with Iron Mask was suppose to be episode 13…memory a bit fuzzy on that so don’t quote me lol =P.
@aakaido that is so awesome. I wanted to do a this whole DVD Collection thing so I bought the majority of the ones. And apparently from what I’m hearing, I bought them just in time because now they either becoming hard to fine or going out of print. X, V, and Turn A were the hardest to fine, but X pissed me the hell out bootleg piece of shiz-nit. God, I could tell ya stories lol.
you seen Unicorn yet?
So was that yes or no on the upload. Luckily I have all three, but they’re subbed but by by very good fansub groups though. I never knew these to be put out in english.

Yeah so Spring & Fall which you gotta admit is better than every year. So it’ll be what…3 years for 6 episodes. A little rumor, but I heard the artwork and stuff for project episode 2 is done, they are currently working on episode 3. Just a rumor though.
Yeah X, Turn A, V, & ZZ have yet to be in english. Which sucks because you would think Bandai would man up and do ZZ and V for these are the last two for UC timeine accept for Unicorn. Apparently ZZ went into blu-ray production recently.
Oh pffft, what really sent me over with my first GX set was when the subs would say Motor Driven Soldiers and the damn narrator even JUST SAID GUNDAM. I can look back and laugh now lol.
F91 isn’t a series and isn’t new. F91 is a movie and I think it’s a sequel to the F90 manga. At least I think I’m right.
No. F91 is not the newest series. It was release back in 1991 which victory then follows after in 1993.
This was all back in the day. Back in the day aka 90’s, F91 was "suppose" to be a series like all the others. F91 was/is suppose to be the first show with no connection to the One Year War. They are wayyy in the future…about U.C. 0123. But as I mention, things happened and I want to say they were either half way through or already had a couple of episodes done, but shrank the series down into a movie instead.
MSVG is set in U.C. 0153. But shows are "of their own" Meaning both have no connection with the One Year War, but both aren’t a alternate universe. Their both in the Universal Century timeline. MSVG does it’s on thing too, no connection with F91.
Gundam Unicorn U.C. 0096 — three years after Char’s Counterattack is the newest series besides SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors. (Also, Unicorn is not of an alternate universe, it’s still in Universal Century).
Did it come like that? Or did F90 manga come after F91 movie? I can’t remember.
I’m pretty sure F90 came first.
Anyways I’ll start uploading tomorrow. Which one does anybody want me to start with and which site would be best to upload with?
aakaido, my vote’s on uploading if you’re still offering.
Also aakaido what were you thoughts on Turn A?

That clears thing up. I figured that any shows that take place in the UC time line after CCA wouldn’t have anything to do with that overall story. I just needed to make sure I’m watching them as in order as possible.
Also aakaido what were you thoughts on Turn A?
Honestly I haven’t watched it yet. I’ve always been meaning to get around to it. Maybe I’ll get the chance to watch this summer. Is it any good?
Here’s the thing…Turn A Gundam is the best in a sense that Tomino brings back what Gundam actually is all about, which are the characters and not the mecha. If you dislike Victory in terms of what happens character wise, then you’ll defiantly gonna love Turn A for this is when Tomino was out of his "depress" state.
I’ll give you a brief history lesson: Turns out that in Turn A’s time calendar C.C. (Correct Century) 2345, is so far in the future that it has reverse and people are living in about the level it was during World War I era.
Although it’s old school anime in terms of look wise, it ain’t no 00, lol, but it’s really good in terms of story telling…you’ll want to see how each person turns out.
Mechas are defiantly original looking (at least at the time) and Turn A is one if not (haven’t seen 00 yet) the most powerful Gundam of them all.
So if you check Turn A out when you get a chance, then I’ll be checking out 00 =P.
I’d seen clips of Turn A, and it intrigues me. Of course, one of those clips happened to be the Zaku homages, so I originally thought they did another sidestory to UC 0079…no such luck.
Aakaido, I’d say that’s part of the fun…a number of mobile suits in Turn A are rip offs/homages to older MS, so that might be part of the fun for enthusiasts. As for the story…well, seems pretty good, all things considered. Little fantastic, but Gundam’s been that way since the beginning, right? Oh, and hope you don’t mind the main hero resembling a girl(’cause he really is pretty close, what with the art direction used).

I remember seeing the frist 2 episodes and I thought the main character was a girl until i saw some nude scene lol. But to me all of the gundams in each series are a rip off of another series beginning with the first Gundam show. It looks like they either add more armor or weapons to the mechas or take more of them away. At the same time, it’s expected to be that way, especially when they’re in the same timeline like U.C.
It hardly matters to me…each series/movie has proven itself to be quite enjoyable(hell, I even enjoyed G-Saviour, to be honest), and I treat just about all of them as standalones(aside from the obvious ones that connect together, such as Gundam Wing –> Endless Waltz, and Gundam 0079 all the way to Char’s Counterattack).
V Gundam was the worst as far as ridiculous weapons, though…helicopter beam rotors? Wheeled space vehicles? And that’s not even including the superweapons!
Was that the time after Neon Genesis Evangelion was released and Tomino was angry that Hideaki Anno did something original with what’s basically the same formula as Gundam, so he tried to out Anno Anno?
o0 ooo, I didn’t know about this. I want to say somethings were going on in his personal life at the time. But new news is interesting.
Apparently out of the entire U.C. (not counting Unicorn), V’s era has the most powerful technology of them all. So says a source which I had a back to back with. Also want to say that Victory Gundam is the first gundam to ever be mass produced.

I don’t know how true that is, I was reading some article on the industry and the site had another write up on anime series that could have been great but failed miserably; with one of the entries been some of Tomino’s work that he realeased after Eva. I can’t seem to find the site or article:/
So I started Gundam F-91 last night but megavideo has a 72 minute limit so I’ll be finishing it tonight.
Here’s the history of Model kits for Amuro Ray’s Gundam (http://en.gigazine.net/index.php?/news/comments/20100513_shs49_gunpla_history/) For a toy released in the late 70s- early 80s the first one has held up pretty well.

I finished F91 2 nights ago and will start Victory Gudam tonight. I really enjoyed the lover’s team up at the end of F91 and it was suprizing how graphic the detail of the collateral damage was done. Also large death discs that launch off small death discs. Did they realy expect that those could kill everyone in the world?
I’d seen clips of Turn A, and it intrigues me. Of course, one of those clips happened to be the Zaku homages, so I originally thought they did another sidestory to UC 0079…no such luck.

Now that I think about it, the whole homage thing makes more sense because Turn A was Gundam’s 20th anniversary.

Enjoy!!
Mediafire keeps saying that there are no servers available and it’s been like this for a few days now. I’m sure it’s not just that your links are bad though becouse I’ve tried downloading other files from MF too.
Sorry about that. Is there anywhere else that would be better for you? Megaupload, Rapidshare? Is anybody else having this problem?

Fine so far, I’m going to watch ep. 10 tonight.
While the modular design of the original gundam was both orginal and useful the Victory Gundam seems like it’s just a handicap and for that matter so does the ZZ’s 3 fighters become 1 robot. It’s jsut too easy to loose 1 part and then you’ve effectively lost your main gun before it’s even active and didn’t he ZZ house 1 of the cockpits inside the rifle? Those things get broke or cast aside all the time so I can’t imagine why you’d put one of your pilots in that postison.
I like the eyes on the yellow jackets.
I’m guessing that the reason the Feds aren’t bothering with this new threat is because just like with Haman dropping a colony on Dublin they just don’t care.
So far only that 1 general guy has been killed and Shaak Ti is always carrying the baby and has not 1 but 2 mascots with her so she’s got some heavy plot armor on.
The lead kinda looks like Nouta from FLCL.

Part of me wants to say yes and the other part of me want to also say that they are at their weakest. Based oh how the Earth looks in this part of UC, I just don’t see the Feds gaining anything by just letting the Zanscare go. .
I’m on episode 23, monitor broke so I fell behind a bit. It looks like Uso finally has some what of a fighting team now, I like it a lot better when it’s a squadron having to fight for each other than just the quarterback pilot bulldozing through on his own.
edit: and morally. man i hate cp. wanna punch someone now
anyway everyone go back to talking about gundams now
I hope the theme song is Cher’s "If I could Turn Back Time" but the lyrics are "If I could Turn A Gudnam".
Turn-A has a fantastic OST.
Oh by the way, any of you guys check out gundam soundtracks? Or anime music in general by any chance?

I tend to DL the OST of any anime I like.
I’ve DL’d way too much stuff….
I’ve DL’d way too much stuff….
Haha no way really? Me have very few non-gundam/soundtrack related. However if I like an OP or ED I’ll be all up on it. =P.
There’s a lot of good music out there.
I enjoy instrumentals, so it works out for me.
Turn-A Gundam has one of the best OST out there.
Then again anything by Yoko Kanno is fantastic.

omg tanis I love love love "Moon".
seriously, the one year war from the prospective of foot soldiers and tanks? AWESOME! the zaku is the almighty death god… this series is amazing, to bad its so short
I’m a sucker for cheesy love stories.
I guess that means all the pilots have a catheter or a water bottle with a vacuum on it.
F.Y.I. on the making of special that aired before the series finally of Star Trek: The Next Generation Johnathan Frakes said that the question he got the most was "Where’s the damn bathroom?" He said there was only one in the middle of the ship.
The episode ending with Uso reunited with his mother and then cuddling up together was sweet.

Goody goody gumdrops!
I’m a semi-traditionalist myself, as I enjoy the MS-18 Kampfer. Seemed pretty devastating in the 0080 anime, but when I actually used it, I fell in love with it.
LOL, yeah that was pretty amusing. Felt bad for him getting caught up in the politics though…given the Doms he was supposed to be resupplied with, he would have kicked White Base’s ass.
Of course, as we also know, the Federation was going in COMPLETELY the wrong direction with Newtypes, too. Only the Zeons understood what they were capable of(due in large part to Kycilia and the Flanagan Institute, of course).
Maybe someone should do a Gundam Infinities line, like they did with Star Wars, hm?
Maybe someone should do a Gundam Infinities line, like they did with Star Wars, hm?
Oh, speaking of which. A while ago in a different forum site someone posted Tomino’s original idea for Gundam 0079 which was suppose to be I think 50 something episodes, but was cut down to 43 and I think I also have the idea for Gundam ZZ before Tomino got the green light to do Char’s Counterattack.
Would anyone like me to post them?
Would anyone like me to post them?
I heard that at first Gudnam wasn’t all that popular but gained a cult fallowing in large part of the bandai model figure kits.
Tonight the last 2 Victory episodes.
I’m surprised not only by how many black people are in the main cast but for the fact that the only one to die so far was the "evil" one. Being preggers pretty much makes Marveto-san invulnerable and I really hop Shaakti makes it. She’s just so sweet I hope her and Uso raise that baby along side Marvet and her kid.
As we all know, 0079 aka "original" was suppose to be 52 episodes instead of the 43. According to Mark Simmons, he stumbled onto some work Tomino did published by Sunrise and within one or a few he found Tomino’s outline of the full 0079 story before cancellation and here it is…
The 52-episode version roughly parallels the broadcast version up through the Battle of Solomon (episodes 35 and 36). Then the weirdness begins…
EPISODE 37
Now we get the part where White Base pursues fleeing Zeons and runs into MQuves fleet near the Texas Colony. As in the TV series, MQuve has been dispatched from Kycilia’s lunar base at Granada to hold off the Federal Forces pursuers and allow the survivors of Solomon to reach safety. The Texas Colony segment is pretty much the same as the TV series, but it continues for three Episodes instead of two.
In this first episode, hostilities are joined between MQuve’s forces and White Base. Barom, one of the captains under MQuve, duels the Gundam in a Rick Dom. The fighting appears to spill over from Side 4 to Side 5, though the synopses of the following episodes seem to be confused as to which is which, a confusion that will continue throughout the entire Gundam saga.
Be it duly noted that in this outline, the names of most of the Mobile Suits are different – the Gyan is the "Bakuji", the Rick Dom is the "Dowadge", and the Gelgoog is the "Gyan". Tomino tends to latch onto certain names and keep trying to work them in someplace until they stick. To avoid confusion, I’ll use the names from the TV series where available.
EPISODE 38
Amuro duels MQuve’s Gyan.
EPISODE 39
Amuro duels Char’s Gelgoog. Incidentally, there’s no Doctor Flanagan in this version – the Flanagan Institute is headed by a Doctor Sophia, who’s a guy.
EPISODE 40
The Challia Bull Episode. Though he only lasts for one episode, Challia Bull’s name keeps coming up in later episodes, as he turns out to have a lot of Newtype underlings. When a character is introduced as "He used to work under Challia Bull", it’s shorthand for "He’s a powerful Newtype with no combat experience; watch him die". Here, the Braw Bro is called the "Gelgoog" – see what I mean about Tomino’s name-shuffling?
EPISODE 41
Now the divergence begins. Kycilia launches an attack on Luna Two, and White Base ends up helping fight it off. Kycilia’s fleet includes the mighty carrier Dolos, three Gwazin-class battleships, and a gaggle of cruisers – this is some heavy ****. To scout out Luna Two, Kycilia dispatches a recon team consisting of a Gasshia (piloted by a veteran named Daru) and two Goufs. The Gasshia never appeared in the broadcast series, but Okawara later drew up nice line art of it based on Tomino’s rough doodles. Yes, these are all ground-combat Mobile Suits, but I guess crawling around inside Luna Two counts as ground combat.
Anyway, Sayla impetuously grabs the Guntank (the Guntank!) and goes to intercept Daru’s recon team. Mobile Suit combat ensues.
EPISODE 42
White Base remains at Luna Two and, along with the rest of the Federation fleet, is restocked in preparation for an attack on Granada. Unlike the TV Series, the Federal Forces aren’t using the captured Solomon as a staging area – perhaps in the long version the asteroid fortress was destroyed outright rather than captured. At any rate, Luna Two is shortly attacked by Lalah Sune’s Elmeth, backed up by Char’s new Mobile Suit "Kikeroga" (this is described as "something like the Braw Bro").
As in the broadcast Episode where Amuro fights the Braw Bro, the Gundam can no longer keep up with Amuro’s superhuman reflexes, and after the fight it is refitted with magnetic coating by the scientist Mosk Han. From Mosk Han, Amuro hears that his father has been captured by the Flanagan Institute. "He’s alive?" gasps Amuro (I guess he didn’t meet dad at Side 6 in this version). "Naah, they killed him". Weird little interlude.
Then Amuro takes his retooled Gundam out for a spin and blows Char’s Kikeroga to kingdom come.
EPISODE 43
The Federal Forces depart Luna Two, destination Granada. Kycilia intercepts the fleet and dispatches space Adzams (space Adzams!) to mess ’em up. Amuro is able to find the space Adzam’s weak spot and the invasion proceeds on schedule.
Granada falls. At the last minute, Kycilia tells Char and Lalah to flee and save themselves. She knows Char’s true identity, and reckons that inflicting him on her brother Gihren will be revenge enough.
EPISODE 44
The Federal Forces occupy Granada as a staging point for an invasion of Side 3. The Elmeth stops by and sinks the Federation’s new battleship "Amerigo" (named after the explorer/cartographer/egomaniac Amerigo Vespucci, I presume). By the way, its Bits are called "doku" in this version.
EPISODE 45
Gihren sends Char some reinforcements – a batch of the new Mobile Suit "Galbaldy" (again, Okawara drew this up after the fact) and the "semi-esper" youth Paccadelia, one of Challia Bull’s hand-me-downs. When battle is joined, Amuro and Lalah enter a Newtype mind-meld (as in the broadcast series), but in this version their rapport is disrupted by Paccadelia, who thinks Lalah is consorting with the enemy and blows her up. D’oh!
Lalah gets the customary spectacular dying telepathic experience, Char blames Amuro for the whole mess, and Kai and Hayato blast the hapless Paccadelia into space dust.
EPISODE 46
Char meets Gihren Zabi in person for the first time. However, he’s now too obsessed with defeating the Gundam to take advantage of the opportunity to whack Gihren.
Meanwhile, Degwin Zabi, patriarch of the Zeon Duchy, has decided to seek peace. After all, he now has no heirs left other than the loony Gihren, and he doesn’t exactly want him to win the war. Degwin meets up with White Base and comes aboard with his dishy secretary Kusko Al (same name as the character in the novels, totally different character), to whom Bright takes an immediate liking. Degwin recognizes Sayla and begs her forgiveness for doing away with her father Zeon Deikun, corrupting Deikun’s dream, placing the fate of humanity in the hands of his crackpot son, and so forth.
Then Gihren’s Mobile Suit hit team shows up to do away with dear old dad. Degwin begs Sayla to ice him and put a stop to the fighting, but she refuses, pointing out that she’s not like her brother. Degwin is killed anyway, but Bright rescues Kusko Al.
EPISODE 47
Amuro is convinced Kusko Al is a spy, but Bright defends her. There’s a footnote pointing out that this is typical of Amuro, who’s a raging paranoid.
White Base makes a foray into Side 3, since this is where the Federal Forces will be heading next. They intercept a flotilla of refugees, who have been forcibly evacuated from Side 3’s 38 Bunch. White Base goes to check out this mysterious colony and is fended off by an expertly-piloted "Garaba" (yet another new Mobile Suit). They capture the pilot and he reveals that the colony has been commandeered for "Operation Solar Ray", but that’s all he knows.
EPISODE 48
We are treated to an explanation of why Char hasn’t whacked Gihren yet. Sure, he’s sworn an oath to avenge his father, he’s already murdered his best friend towards this goal, and now all that stands between him and vengeance is to ice the freak who’s standing right in front of him… but now he also has a major hate on for Amuro and the Gundam. If he nails Gihren, who’s going to build him a Mobile Suit tough enough to take out the Gundam? If he single-handedly ends the war and brings peace to the war-weary human race, when’s he gonna get a chance for a showdown with Amuro? Sorry, dad, one quest for vengeance at a time.
While Char agonizes, he and Gihren confer on personnel matters. They have one spare Braw Bro but two Newtype candidates; one is a veteran named Dardan, and the other is yet another of Challia Bull’s underlings, a powerful but inexperienced kid named Gola. Char opts for Dardan, opining that Gola isn’t cut out to be a soldier (after all, look what happened with Paccadelia).
Meanwhile, the Federal Forces conduct a whimsical violation of the Antarctic Treaty. In an effort to pinch Zeon’s energy supply, White Base leads an attack on a Jupiter Energy Fleet convoy. Kusko Al, who turns to be a spy after all, warns the Zeons and flees the ship. While Mirai takes over as captain, Bright must pursue his tragic love interest, hunt her down and kill her like a dog.
The attack on the Jupiter Energy Fleet begins. Amuro duels Dardan and blows him away. Amuro also senses the presence of Gola, and likens it to the second coming of Lalah Sune.
EPISODE 49
Gola has figured out Char’s secret identity. He tells Gihren, who quite reasonably reckons that if Char were really going to ice him, he would have done so by now. The Federal Forces mass at Granada to invade Side 3, and Gihren blasts them with the Solar Ray, taking out over half the Federation fleet.
Amid the chaos, the Zeons attack. Amuro duels Gola’s Zeong and, in a dazzling display of Newtype prowess, destroys it. However, Amuro is getting mighty tired of exterminating Newtypes – his butchery of Gola reminds him all too well of what happened to Lalah.
EPISODE 50
Amuro sets off for Side 3’s 38 Bunch to discover the secret of the Solar Ray. Char intercepts him in a Garaba for one final duel. As Char and Amuro fight, Gihren uses the Solar Ray a second time and wipes out the remainder of the Federation fleet. Char and Amuro are both stunned by the sight of the colony-scale laser cannon in action, but Amuro recovers first, trashes Char’s Garaba and then single-handedly (single-handedly!) destroys the entire Solar Ray.
Manifesting her latent Newtype powers, Sayla senses that Char ins’t dead, just horribly injured.
EPISODE 51
Char, who is really messed up at this point, limps back to Gihren’s headquarters at A Baoa Qu. Gihren pins a medal on his chest and gives him a hefty promotion for helping him attain ultimate victory. Char is horrified to realize that, distracted by his vendetta against Amuro, he’s not only failed to complete his original mission but he has in fact helped his father’s murderer become supreme ruler of the human race. Ooops.
Amuro, wading through Zeon plebes, also has an overdue epiphany. He finally realizes that these hapless minions aren’t the real enemy – it’s the leaders, nutcases like Gihren Zabi, who are responsible for war and bloodshed. Rather than slaughtering plebes and wiping out other Newtypes, he should be going after the evil scum who started this whole thing. Kill the leaders and the war ends. Thus resolved, Amuro leads White Base toward A Baoa Qu.
EPISODE 52
Amuro and White Base reach A Baoa Qu. White Base plows into the fortress and the crew begin fighting their way in through grueling hand-to-hand combat. Amuro duels the fortress’ last line of defense, the Gigan (the Gigan!), and the Gundam is trashed. He joins the rest of the crew in bloody hand-to-hand combat, closing inexorably in on Gihren’s hideout. Even Char limps into the fray, hoping to make up for his epic screw-up.
Ultimately, though, everyone falls by the wayside, wounded or captured by Gihren’s royal guard. Amuro alone makes it to Gihren’s hideout, where he confronts the evil genius.
"Ha-ha", Gihren jeers, "You’re too late! I’ve set A Baoa Qu to self-destruct!"
"In one minute and thirty seconds, right?"
"Damn you, Newtype!" cries Gihren, going down in a hail of bullets.
Amuro is immediately surrounded by Gihren’s tardy royal guard. Before they can blow him away, he points out that their leader is dead and the entire place is about to go kaboom, so they should probably run away while they can. They follow his advice.
What follows is something pretty close to the broadcast version. Amuro crawls back into the wreckage of the Gundam and telepathically directs his friends back to White Base so they can survive the destruction of A Baoa Qu intact. Sayla and Char run into each other and tearfully greet each other as brother and sister. Char insists that he can’t escape with Sayla, but the synopsis doesn’t explain why – I dunno if he’s pinned by a girder, riddled with bullets, or just so ashamed of himself that he can’t go on. At any rate, everyone but Char makes it back to White Base and rides out the blast. Amuro emerges from the explosion in what’s left of the Gundam and the White Base crew are reunited.
It’s year 0080 of the Universal Century. On January 3, the Earth Federation and the Zeon Republic make peace and everyone lives happily ever after.
Roux shows up from La Vie En Rose and Elbow Smash shows up. Elbow is an AE technician. Oh ya, members of Gigaa joins Ahgama crew. Apparently Gigaa and Ahgama crew don’t like each other. Emma might die (don’t ask me). Haman and Bright met or got close enough to have a dialog. Bright rejects Haman’s offer about agreeing to the Zabi family’s return. Judau kicks all the weak members of the Ahgama crew to La Vien Rose and now Gigaa controls Ahgama. Next is a plan to retake Shangria. Apparently Bright and Ahgama are successful at the retake. Behind the scenes Char helped out with this as his last salute to the crews of Ahgama. Camille becomes missing and Fa returns to Ahgama. the scenario switches to Earth, where Bright heads there to talk with the Earth Federation Forces. The EF official tells him, "Char is going to monitor Haman." in response to Bright’s displeasure about giving Haman Side 3.
Judau becomes pissed and punched the EF official. Judau is jailed. Amuro, Hayato, Beltochika came up a plan to rescue Judau and do so. From them, they hear Camille is at Hong Kong (doing something. sorry the kanji is too blurry). Haman laughed at Bright and Judau’s debacle. Ok, Haman Kahn’s dictatorship started and she began to purge any that resisted. She also worked on a plan to take over Earth. Judau and Roux infiltrates the colony and is suprised at the fact they don’t feel Char’s presence. They only feel Haman’s dictatorship. Judau recognizes that Haman is going after Earth. So he decides to kidnap Mineva but fails. Haman’s force centering around Axis heads toward Earth. EFF panicking asks for any help. It says that Fa might become the next Emma (Fa bitchslap!). It also says that Char hasn’t killed Haman because he was too busy commanding a force responsible for assassinating all of Earth Federation high officials.
After the EF government passes a legislature giving a go sign for Space Migration, Char joins Haman’s force. Mineva is happy about Char’s return. Char kills Haman when her force was about to attack Earth. During this Bright rescues Mineva. In the last battle, the whole world sees Judau’s NT thingy. Judau apparently says something like "being selfish won’t free the people and Char’s way is selfish too". Char agreed to what Judau said and he actually has a long quote here (which I don’t feel like translating, something like people being able to understand each other and able to conquer space, blah blah blah). Camille heard this. The story ends with Judau joining the Mars exploration and Mineva going to Earth.
ALSO
The original plan for the second half of the series was that the Axis forces would stage an invasion of Earth using ballutes and HRSL capsules, landing a large force of mobile suits without any motherships or support vehicles. Designs were commissioned for a variety of amphibious mobile suits – the Zaku Mariner, the Gaza Mariner, the Methuss Mariner – which both sides would use to secure their splashdown sites and escort their landing forces safely to dry land. The mobile suit forces would then have to make their way over land in caravan formation; the Mission ZZ book notes that it’s impossible to operate flying platforms like the Dodai and Base Jabber without a support base on the ground, so instead we’d have a lot of a ground convoys centered around vehicles like the Zaku Tanker.
At this point, the plan was that the Axis landing forces would consist largely of upgraded One Year War-era mobile suits. Specifically, these would be space mobile suits retrofitted for ground combat; for example, the Dowadge was originally supposed to be a ground version of the Pezun Dowadge, which is why it has the same name, and the original design for the Desert Zaku was based on the MS-06R High Mobility Type rather than the One Year War-era MS-06D Zaku Desert Type. Many of these Axis mobile suits, such as the Zaku Mariner, were meant to be variations of a new "final model" of the Zaku series known as the Zaku III. However, since the Zaku III itself hadn’t been designed yet, the designers just assumed it would look pretty much like the standard Zaku II and figured they could match up the details later.
Then, at the last minute, the writers changed their plans and decided to just give all the spaceships Minovsky craft systems so that they could carry their mobile suits down to Earth. This eliminated any need for ballutes and HRSL capsules, not to mention amphibious mobile suits to secure the landing sites. And since the Axis ships would be loaded with the same mobile suits that had already appeared in the first half of the show, all the Dom and Zaku variants that were in the design process suddenly became leftover One Year War machines operated by Zeon remnants who had stayed behind on Earth. (Any postwar technology they possessed, like the huge beam cannon carried by the Dowadge Kai, was explained away as booty plundered from Federation bases.)
The Zeta Plus, which was meant to appear during the Dakar battle, was eliminated for other reasons. Since there was already a Gundam team aboard the Argama, the writers were worried that adding even more Gundams into the mix would simply confuse the viewers. They had also decided to push the rest of the AEUG and Karaba forces into the background, which is why the Sturm Dias, originally meant for use by elite AEUG special forces, ended up being given to Zeon loyalists instead. In the end, the only new AEUG/Karaba machine to appear in the story was the GM III.
And finally, a note regarding the Zaku III. As noted above, the original plan was that this would simply be a "final type" of the Zaku II, which had remained in use because its versatile design allowed it to be customized for things like desert and water environments. Designer Masahiro Oda seized on the idea of the Zaku as being an all-purpose, infinitely extensible machine, and his design for the Zaku III became more and more grandiose as he came up with options like anti-ship mega cannons and extension boosters. By the time Oda started coming up with upgrades like a chest-mounted hi mega cannon and optional funnel containers, the staff decided that the Zaku III had become too all-purpose, and these features were assigned to separate machines like the Geymark and Doven Wolf instead. (Incidentally, Oda was also the main writer of the original MSV profiles, and it seems likely that his concept for the "final type" Zaku III is similar to what he had in mind when he originally described the MS-06R-3 Zaku III in the MSV kit manuals. Even its white-and-gray color scheme is similar to what Oda is said to have intended for the MSV incarnation.)
Lalah getting killed by someone else isn’t as sad or thematic as cross fired by Char & Amuro.
I have to say I like the ending we got better but we would have gotten more Kycilia commanding stuff.
Emma’s death at the end of zeta was touching and if she would just get killed later anyway you might as well give her the better death scene.
No mention of Puru puru puru puru puru! For shame.
No!

Yeah the people on the podcast were thinking the same. That it wouldn’t have been as powerful with anyone but Amuro when it comes to Lalah. They also didn’t like Amuro encountering Gihren Zabi. Also Emma last part did seem sort of BLAM, lets put it here.
lol blame the calendar not them. They said 2010 autumn. Still summer =P.
Oh gawd…speaking of which, did anyone see the entries made in Animerica some time ago for various ‘Neo’ countries? The Santa Gundam for the Neo North Pole was hilarious, I thought…
this is gundam right?
It wasn’t until last year that I got to watch the last episode of that. Cartoon Network didn’t want to air the children soldier episode.
Turn-A Gundam is also good like that.
Not really the ‘common soldier’ aspect, but rather the more realistic…no 5 dudes being able to win a war against >9000 special opts type crap.
I’m like the lone soldier in the fanbase that did not like 8th MS Team. Don’t get me wrong, it was great, but…not my top fav. My roommate and I would get into it alot because he’s more of a "realistic" person and I can careless if it’s realistic or not. If I can’t do it in my own back yard, then whateve. I’m the opposite from it.

Beyond that, I’d go with Zeta.

You should watch out for 2012 then. A new project called Gundam SEED HD Remaster will be released with lot’s of new changes. So get ready!.
i love X and Turn A and all the UC ones too
and g gundam felt more like a cheap dragon b zall knockoff than a gundam show
But recently , the Gundam UC is also nice.
I was surprised by the Gundam Seed episodes when I watched one on youtube. I can’t remember but I think the first set of episodes didn’t have the clotheless passings of censored only by removal of definite sensitive parts. That’s why I’m here but I’m going to another thread when I have time…
Ok nevermind. Only three of the posts on this page are ‘excited’ and blunt. I guess it’s ok..nobody watches..
We all have our flaws.
