"Ripping" with Audacity

Hello! I’m a new member here on this forum going by the name Kashima.

Anyways, I just wanted to share a little "ripping" trick with Audacity.

First: If you dont have Audacity go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and download it. I recomend you dowload ver. 1.2.6

Second: Download the LAME MP3 encoder (found under download) so that you can have them in MP3 format.

now that you have Audacity you just start it up. Then you check the configurations and set them to 2.Stereo. Now in the top right corner there is a..Don’t know what it’s called, but you can choose different options. Set it to Stereo Mixer.

Now to make it "rip" the sound you want.
Firts you find the Sound or Song. Then you click the red circle button on Audacity, If all is done correct it should record the sound or song. When done click file and Make MP3 then you make what you just recorded into an MP3 file that you can listen to.

I know this is more like recording it, but it works. So if you want a song or sound that you just can’t find other than just beeing able to listen to it. This is the way. PS: Make sure that nothing else that could make a sound on the computer is on because that will get recorded as well.

Audacity is a great program for editing but it isnt great for recording off the sound card. There are better programs than Audacity for this.

Well if you want a better recording program try AAA Real Recorder. It requires a Serial and access Key to register it because it has limitations on the unregistered version but its very easy to track down the rego key for it anyway

I;ve been trying this myself without any luck.

I want to rip Hyper Street Fighter 2 music.

The OSTs on GH don’t have the sped up versions of the songs, nor any version of Akuma’s theme, all of wich are in the game.

Any help would be appreciated.

I only get shit like .sfd , .irx files and I have no clue how tyo get them to work

Taskmaster, have you dowloaded the LAME MP3 Encoder to Audacity?

The first time you make it an MP3 file it will ask for the MP3 Encoder, just browse you’r file where you dowloaded the MP3 Encoder and select the file it’s asking for. If it’s correct it should be an MP3 file insted of the other ones.

okay uno problemo. audacity doesn’t even pic up the sound at all. i’ve got my channel set 2 stereo and the other thing set 2 stereo mixer and everything else set 2 my computers settings. what the heck?

hmmm……..That’s weird, are you using plugin speakers or the ones on the computer? (What kind of computer do you use? Stationary or portable)

Have to agree with you, but when it works it works. Anyways all can think of as a problem is that the output sound is turned of? (on audacity) other then that I’m not sure, but I will check it out and come back with an answere
