New Postishead album coming soon

Though, all is not fine according to founding member Geoff Barrow.

Work ain’t good at the moment. We’ve got stuck. Just a few more months and we can really go at it. Working everyday on this fucker. It’s really hard not to sound like you’re doing a bad impression of yourself.

I seriously cannot wait for their new album.

I think I just shat myself.

Any Portishead fans out there?

I love Portishead. <3 Their live albums are magnificent.

But I haven’t really checked up with their latest stuff, so yeah, I’m quite excited now. 😀

Seems like I’ve been waiting forever for this album. Hopefully, it’ll be out by the end of the year, if not early next year. Last I heard from the Portishead camp was that they were supposed to do a gig in Bristol with Massive Attack, that never happened.

massive attack, portishead, dj shadow, sneaker pimps, tricky etc. all good. i think tricky, massive attack and portishead were all bristol scene mates too

i havent heard any more news about this album, but ill have a listen when it comes out.

Will, they are all out of Bristol. Tricky’s done a ton of work with Massive, and a few tunes with Portishead. Don’t know Dj Shadow, but Sneaker Pimps, Mocheeba, Portis, Massive, and Tricky are stellar.

If anyone keeps up on Depeche Mode, a lot of their newer stuff sounds very Trip-Hop influenced.

Anyway, back on topic; what’s the projected release date? Album name? I’m too lazy to Google it right now.

They will be playing their first full live set featuring new material in nearly 10 years at the event which is set for December 7, 8 & 9 at Butlins Holiday Camp at Minehead.

"We have always loved the All Tomorrow’s Parties set up and we’re happy our first shows will be there. It’s great to have the opportunity to introduce bands we love or have influenced us. We’ve chosen a diverse collection of artists to play with us and we’re really looking forward to it" – we said that.

Details of the line up will be announced here and at the All Tomorrow’s Parties site www.atpfestival.com where you’ll also find details of how to buy tickets, accomodation available and how to get there."

Portishead is lovely! Hopefully the album will drop soon. Soo many good moods and emotions in those albums, ive been a loyal listener since Sour Times n Roads. I’m a huge fan of that style of music, but its really hard to put a name on it. Sneaker Pimps, Tricky, Mas Attack all very good artists and there are on the are on the regular rotation on my ipod.

DepecheMode, i think more so have influenced these artists than taken from them. Mode’s ballads and slower compositions have been remixed and redone by even Portishead (Waiting for the Night). But i’d agree that maybe in some way Martin Gore has mixed in those elements into modes music. He does DJ downtempo bytheway.

Dj Shadow is from Northern California, a few miles from here, he used to dj at old skool raves in the area. Husky Rescue, Chris Joss, Emiliana Torini n even older Goldfrapp (Felt Mountain) are preetty solid trip artists.

you see, i don’t know my portishead that much, apart from dummy really. but zero 7 – yep, they fucking stand out in this genre for me. i have when it falls and simple life and the garden and a 2002 blue room mix they did, and there isnt much they’ve done i don’t like. i havent managed to catch them live yet but they’re supposed to do a good performance too

All of Portisheads albums shine in my eyes at least, the 2nd release is slightly more haunting than the first, with more … i guess, with more of a musical influence. Roselands NYC Live doesnt even seem like a live album as all tracks are performed flawlessly. Its on DVD also.

I saw Zero 7 in 2004 (When it Falls) very good show. It was one of those you didnt want to end. I saw Sigur Ros the week prior for the 2nd time, also The Album Leaf and Royksopp around the same time. That was a good month.

New Album is krakin, i actually got it almost 3 weeks before release date. I did however purchase on the 28th.

Album is very very very good, it is that signature P-Head sound, favorite track right now is Threads. Hopefully they will be heading to the west coast again, i did not get to see them at Coachella.

I’ have some Boards and Mogwai, i’ll give the other bands a listen.

Portishead live at Coachella = Perfect.

Well I downloaded the new album and I must admit I’m a little disappointed, there are a few good tracks but overall it just isn’t as good as what I’m used to. I’m hoping that after a few more listens it will grow on me.

I wasnt too crazy about the Machine Gun track at first, now its one of my favorite. N i cant listen to PHead all the time, gotta be in the mood for some downtempo

My favourites are Nylon Smile, Machine Gun and We Carry On
