First, here’s the download link:
A Prologue Christmas.mp3 (http://uniextract.c1pher.com/A_Prologue_Christmas.mp3)
It’s a Christmas-oriented remix of the Final Fantasy Prologue, and was officially made available by SquareSoft (pre-Square Enix) a few years ago as a Christmas gift to their fans. It was posted on their website for direct download, I want to say around 1999 or 2000, for just a limited time. I was fortunate enough to have downloaded it at the time, and it’s managed to survive my various computer moves and upgrades through the years. It’s actually a very cool mix, and I highly recommend checking it out. No serious collection should be without it. ๐
Now, here’s the odd part. In all the years since then, I’ve NEVER seen this anywhere else. I’ve never seen posted for download, have never seen it discussed… if I hadn’t downloaded it myself, and still had a copy available, I would’ve thought that I had either imagined it or just inadvertently downloaded a fan-made remix. However, I know for a fact that this was officially announced on and downloaded from SquareSoft’s website.
So, has anyone else heard this before? Does anyone else actually remember seeing/hearing mention of it, or have any details about it? I’m really curious about it’s origins, and why I’ve never seen it publicly discussed.
Any feedback would be much appreciated! Also, even if you haven’t seen it mentioned before… what do you think of the song? ๐
Sorry, what? Are you asking if this is Prelude instead of Prologue? If so, it’s not. It’s definitely Prologue. If you mean something else, I don’t follow…
Ever since I switched over to another computer [which was three years ago.], I thought I’ve lost this track forever!
Thank you so much!!
EDIT: after hearing it i still think it’s a fan-made remix but it sounded so cute at the end of it. great arrangement though.
It may very well be a fan-made remix, but it was offered officially, as a free download, by Square Soft at one point. I think that makes it fairly distinguished from other fan remixes. ๐ I’m just trying to figure out any information on its origins, beyond the fact that I downloaded it from Square Soft’s website. Eg., if it is a fan-made remix, who did it? Where can I download it from today? Have they done anything else? Alternatively, if it’s some official thing, who was responsible?
The big puzzle for me is simply that I downloaded this thing 7 or 8 years ago, and it’s a fantastic little remix, but I’ve never seen it anywhere since. That just strikes me as unusual, and I was hoping one of the other űber-fans on this board may know a little more about it.

come to think of it my guess is you could be right. although that number of years ago i didn’t know anything about Square’s music or video game music in general at the time so it’s pretty nice to hear it 7 years later
Thanks
Here is by the way the Arranged Themes-track:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/db2b00/
I was searching for this music long time.
I hear this is arranged by Kenji Ito, who is a composer of Romancing SaGa sereies.
You’re very welcome. Like Roxas20, though, I wasn’t aware that they offered other arranged tracks on their site. I only remember seeing the Christmas one.
The filefactory link that you posted seems to have expired, and I missed your reply earlier. Is there any chance you could upload it again? Or point me to another copy? I’d love to take a listen.
Thanks.
