Wow!
In March, Sony Computer Entertainment America held a lavish launch party in San Francisco for God of War II. In the course of the celebrations, Cory Barlog, the game’s outspoken director, dropped some none-too-subtle hints that the series would be coming to the PlayStation 3 along with force feedback.
"If we were to do a God of War III on the PS3," Barlog told the enthusiastic crowd. "We’re excited about the potential–maybe, no commitment, no announcement or anything like that–to maybe have [God of War hero] Kratos in 1080p with the Sixaxis and vibration. Vibration is coming back to the PS3, that’s pretty cool, huh?"
At the time of Barlog’s outburst, SCEA reps would comment on neither a rumble-enabled Sixaxis nor God of War III coming to the PS3. Now, less than two months after the Dual Shock 3 was unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show, Sony has officially confirmed that God of War III is indeed in development exclusively for the PS3 at SCEA’s Santa Monica studio. It provided no further details on the game.
Unfortunately, the God of War III announcement was tempered by some bittersweet news. SCEA has confirmed Barlog himself no longer works at the company’s Santa Monica studio. "We are grateful for his work and creative vision for the critically acclaimed God of War franchise," the company said in a brief statement in which it expressed faith in the remaining members of the GOWIII and God of War: Chains of Olympus teams.
Barlog’s departure remains shrouded in mystery. So far, he has shared no information about his future plans on his personal blog, where he last posted in mid-October. His exit comes just under four months after God of War series creative director, David Jaffe announced he was leaving SCEA’s employ after 14 years. Jaffe maintains close ties with Sony, and his indie studio Eat Sleep Play’s first project is a PS2 port of the PSP game Twisted Metal: Head On.

So what? All this means is that gamers are slapped in the face once again by the outdated notion of console exclusives.
Anyway God of War has always been a Sony exclusive so it’s not surprising.
Looking forward to it…I hope they can dish out another gem of a game but GoW2 will be hard to top.

I agree.
I think in this day and age console exclusives are silly. Companies struggle to make back a large profit mostly and it could hard the industry. I mean, it’s even projected that Konami will suffer heavily for having MGS4 as an exclusive.
GOW is a Sony property. So that’s a given.
This notion you speak of will always exist as long as the console makers don’t band together to make a system than can read all media types, from any developers. Which is really unlikely to happen in the near future (probably never during our lifespan).
In any case, it is rather futile to complain about first party exclusives.
The latest extended full trailer confirms that its Only on PS3 it states it on last 10 seconds of the trailer. Some game play footage was also leaked ( http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/312211.html ) (the footage was from GDC and its alpha stage)
and if you pay close attention many of the quick-time events are Playstation control button commands.
Overall all God of War games 1,2, Chains of Olympus were really good. The storyline for each of the games were awesome. Greek Mythology is incredibly rich so they have so much source material to use.
The only thing that is sad is the fact that they dropped the price on the playstation 2 instead of their PS3. So much for more sales on the console unit…
Microsoft would have to pay huge cash to get the game on the 360 and SCEA would probably denied them that and say it would be impossible as the PS3 is superior and blah blah blah…. GOW3 on the 360 would have been possible if the game was developed by a third party like Ubisoft or Epic Games and they would had to license the game engine so that 360 development could be done.
there goes my hopes of a DSi port.
